WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE WELSH KC 11

West Highland White Terriers
A real concern for me was the teeth – lack of, dirty & tiny. I was quite shocked. I have never been a tooth fairy as I believe a dog must be viewed for everything, but sometimes even I have to take this into consideration no matter how good the dog looks, moves etc. The bite on a terrier must be also considered. The Norwich Terrier, a numerically small breed I also judged today, used to have a problem with size & lack of full dentition, but the breeders have sorted this problem out so it is hoped that the WHWT breeders can & will do the same.

I am happy to report that my top winners all had excellent large full dentition.

MPD (4)

1 Dunne’s Charosmack Changes Pace, super make & shape, so well put together, moving fore & aft as he should, in excellent coat & condition. Breeder should have some fun. Correct pigmentation;

2 Kabel & Bouwhuis’ Llovall A King Of Hearts, another baby, loved his head. Not so positive in front but young yet. In good coat & well handled.

1 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Arlo, very eyecatching, just my sort, so sound. Excellent coat free from any curl, crisp & white. Excellent head, reach of neck, correct shoulders, large teeth, loved his bone. I just know this dog once he gets his act together will trouble the best. Handler tried hard, will watch with interest.

PGD (5)

1 Minett’s Duskhunter For’n Conexion, loved his head, distinct stop, well placed ears, good pigmentation, correct eye shape, shoulder placement & topline held firm on the move;

2 Stock’s Lindenka Baxter, well presented, moved OK, tail set on correct, good angulation, correct feet, well handled. Needs to firm up in front.

LD (6)

1 Edmondson’s Pepabby Prank, when he walked into the ring I just knew he was my winner. So very sound, looks & knows he is fit for function. Excellent head, correct proportions, sharp dark eyes with a piercing look, teeth set square to the jaw. Muscular neck, firm topline, straight front, well padded feet, black nails, short firm back, held topline on the move. Not overdone on trimming, this is no fancy dog, a true WHWT. Later saw his breeding & wasn’t surprised as both are excellent specimens. Feel this dog has such a lot to offer the breed. Pulled into the group. Wish he was mine, just loved him. CC & BOB;

2 Dunne’s Charosmack Cool Days.

OD (7)

Good class of quality dogs.

1 Gordon’s Ch Lamsmore Fitzwritin, what can I possibly say that hasn’t been said about this well known ch other than he has a look of Moonpicker about him. Not a hair out of place. Excellent rapport between dog & handler. RCC;

2 Minett’s Ch Duskhunter Dutch Courage, correct for type, held topline on the move, well angulated hindquarters.

MPB (5)

Really good class of quality babies.

1 Purchon’s Starstruck at Lindenka, one for the top, excellent feminine head, firm body, moved so well for one so young, good coat & pigmentation. BP;

2 Jennings’ Comdale Starr, promising baby, good reach of neck, correct shoulders.

PB (3)

1 Gaydon’s Gilbri Royal Sapphire, promising baby, in correct coat & colour, moved round the ring with free movement, excellent pigmentation & correct bite;

2 Hammett’s Hollowview Ellie Jo, lovely head, neck & correct bone, in good coat.

JB (7)

1 Thomson’s Ashgate Moonsie, my notes read wish she was mine. Everything so well put together, lovely head, so feminine, correct placed ears, a huge set of teeth set square into her jaw, short firm body, moved expertly by her proud breeder. Shall watch her progress with interest. When she matures she will be hard to beat & will rate as one of the best I’m sure;

2 Cooper’s Brorastar Words Of Love, sound bitch of correct type, moved well, firm pasterns.

Strong arched neck, correct shoulders & straight front, short firm topline, correct movement, well padded feet. Loved her. Was told this was her 2nd CC & should easily make up. Very well handled. CC;
