WEST HIGHLAND WHITE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 09 Judge: Mr D Ericsson WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE WELSH KC 09 West Highland White Terriers It gave me great pleasure judging such a good quality entry & I left the ring quite overcome by the overall quality of the breed. The top classes in both sexes were a particular joy to judge. MPD (3,1a) 1 Dunne’s Charosmack Cool Days, masculine, attractive puppy, lovely type, very good head & expression, strong muzzle, short back, excellent tailset, good rear, good straight coat of excellent quality, moved & showed well. BP; 2 Owen’s Egremont Musketeer, very typical, but taller & longer in body & not so pleasing in front. Good outline, tail & movement, excellent coat. PD (3,1) 1 Cooper’s Brorastar Super Trouper, young dog, excellent type, I liked his overall type & style, very good masculine head, short back, good set on of tail, excellent coat, moves well. Front could be straighter; 2 Macbean’s Pryorvale Euro Star, showy youngster, built on good lines, very good rear, coat & presentation, showed well. Not so pleasing in head & expression & front not his fortune, but nonetheless a pleasing young dog. JD (6,1) Lovely class with several really exciting youngsters. 1 Minett’s Duskhunter Dutch Courage, very well constructed, of the type I like, short back, good outline, tail & coat texture, excellent bone. Lovely head but ears not his fortune, I however liked him very much & he headed a strong class; 2 Lewis’ Lynnsto Man About Town, very good young dog, all the essentials, pressed the winner hard. Fails a little in front. Moved & showed well, he too was in good order; 3 Dale’s Lynnsto Barclaycard. ND (2) 1 L Man About Town, won this class with a bit in hand; 2 Morton’s Havasu Hey Dude for Swifdon, well made dog, but not so masculine & his coat needs attention. Excellent mover. GD (2) 1 McLoughlin’s Ley Hey Loyal Leader, rather tall & fine in build with poor front & shoulders. Short back, hard coat, showing too much colour & his head is not his fortune. Excellent temperament, he showed enthusiastically; 2 Windram’s Kristenkenzie Fagan, completely different in type, very strongly made & too heavy all through. Good coat, needs to lose weight which would improve movement. PGD (7) 1 Gaydon’s Gilbri Williwowtee, very pleasing dog, correct make & shape, beautiful neck & shoulders, short level back, very good coat & rear, masculine strong head, good eye. Tail detracts a little from overall impression. Moved & showed faultlessly; 2 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Outlaw, well made dog that I liked a lot, good neck & shoulders, body, tail, coat & rear. Stands a little lower on the legs than 1 & I would have liked him more masculine, but all in all a very good dog. Presented in good order; 3 Taylor’s Birkfell Second Chance. LD (9,1) Lovely class of quality dogs ultimately headed by 1 Gordon’s Lamsmore Fitzwritin, snow white short backed dog, in first class coat & condition, very good head, lovely expression, excellent bone, legs & feet, very good front, short back, tailset well & carried perfectly, moved well. RCC; 2 Thomson’s Ashgate US Patriot, lovely type, typical head, very good expression, good neck set into well laid shoulders, level back, good tail & rear, excellent hard white coat, moved effortlessly. Just preferred front & bone of 1, but he pressed hard for the top spot in this class; 3 Macbean’s Bellevue Going Dutch with Pryorvale. OD (7,2) 1 Griffiths’ Ch Karamynd Play The Game, top quality dog, very hard to fault, combining quality & substance with correct proportions, almost perfectly, great outline, body, rear, bone, legs & feet, a very pleasing head, well placed ears & eyes, hard coat, showed with great gusto. CC & BOB; 2 Abbey’s Kristajen Know It All, quality dog of correct type, very good head, lovely front, neck & shoulders, short back, good double coat of correct length, moved well, showed sensibly; 3 Deipenbrock’s Int Ch Here I Am vom Deipen Brook. MPB (7,1) 1 Ash’s Hillcloud Drizzle, very pretty baby puppy, lovely head, eye & expression, good front, short back, excellent rear & tail, moved well for one so young. Perhaps a little short in neck but a very promising puppy; 2 Jennings’ Llovall A Real Deal at Comdale, very pleasing, she performed perfectly & showed really well for one so young. Well made all over, but longer in muzzle than 1 & she was a little longer in loin. In good order; 3 Kabel’s Llovall And All That. PB (6,1) 1 Ash’s Hillcloud Cirrus Sky, lovely type, clean neck, straight front, short back, good rear, coat & movement. Tends to flatten out a little on the move, but nonetheless an easy winner in this class; 2 Stock’s Lindenka Apple Charlotte, strong bitch, in heavy condition, well constructed with very white coat. Would look better with less weight. Happy showgirl; 3 Woodward’s Standeridge Star Spangled von Fernsunrise. JB (6,3) 1 Gaydon’s Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri, really lovely young bitch, captured my heart immediately & she did not disappoint on the table, lovely head & eye, perfect neck & shoulders, very short back, good rear, she carries herself like a queen. Just had to give way on maturity in the challenge, but pressed very hard for the big green card. RCC; 2 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Bramble, attractive young bitch, excellent type, excellent topline & coat, moves well. Not the head & ears of 1; 3 Rose’s Jopeta Just Jentl. NB (0). GB (3,1) 1 Purchon’s Lindenka Clancy, bright white bitch, fantastic pigmentation, glorious head & expression, good bone, body & topline, very sound behind, moved well & was an easy winner in this class; 2 Chambers’ Circinus Winning Ambition, very different in type, shoulders not her fortune & I would have liked a better rear. Good head & excellent coat, moves OK. PGB (5,2) 1 Dingley’s Davot Chi Ki, very feminine & most attractive, good body, neck & shoulders, sound behind, very good white coat, head not so pleasing. Moved & showed very well; 2 Rose’s Jopeta Jorja On My Mind, bigger & not as short as 1, but well constructed throughout. Excellent movement & presentation; 3 Hayton’s Pedrohay Silver Rosebud. LB (12,5) Some beautiful bitches in this class & a joy to judge. 1 Hughes’ Brychdyn Kite Mark, I really liked this bitch, she handles really well, lovely feminine overall make & shape, good head & expression, straight front, very short back, great texture of coat, good tail & rear, moved as well as one would expect. A very good bitch indeed, would have looked even better with fewer furnishings; 2 Lancaster’s Clanestar Careless Affair, this bitch also appealed greatly, her free effortless movement was a joy to behold, perfect outline & overall balance, pressed very hard indeed, showing a little colour, more maturity will be a very difficult bitch to beat; 3 West’s Tomlyndon Look Of Love. OB (15,3) Wonderful class of bitches, not to be found anywhere else in the world & they literally brought tears to my eyes when they paraded round the ring. 1 Deipenbrock’s Int Ch Royal Diva vom Deipen Brook, strongly made, hard coated bright white bitch, very short back, good front, perfect rear & tail, feminine head, good eye, one of the best movers I have ever seen, she headed this glorious class, in hardest possible competition. CC; 2 Edmondson’s Ch Pepabby Priceless, lovely bitch of beautiful type, sound, very good topline, coat, movement & showmanship, pressed hard, she too is a lovely bitch; 3 Steemson’s Bocans Hot Stuff.
