West Highland White Terrier Club of Wales Open show Sunday 21st August 2022.

Judge Ida Bouwhuis (Judge) Llovall

I was honoured to be asked the judge the WHWT of Wales Open Show and have been looking forward to the appointment for some time. My thanks goes to the committee for putting on a lovely show, the stewards for their efforts and support, but most of all to each and everyone that entered and allowed me to assess their dogs, none of my decisions on the day have been taken lightly and I hope that everybody has accepted my opinion as just that, my opinion on the day.

2nd Burnâ s Burneze Here Comes Trouble - 17 months old, another nice male with a lovely outline, Nice head, good eye and ears, correct bite. Good topline, good tailset, had all the qualities of the winner but in the end I preferred the shoulders and movement (bit more animated on the day) of number 1. Well presented.

PGD (4/1)

1st Biscoeâ s Jamabis Devon Boy Blue â 5 year old male with a good head, eyes and ears. Short back, enough angulation at the rear, good coat, well presented, moved well.

2nd Goodwin-Nolanâ s Mac Too Hi Ho Silver â 3 years old nice male, good head and eye but in my opinion the ears could be better placed, good neck and shoulder, good coat and condition, slightly longer cast then 1. Nicely presented, and moved ok

LD (1/0)

1st Owensâ Frisbeck Guitarman â 6 year old male of good size, nice head, teeth a bit small, nice shoulders and good topline, could be better angulated at the rear which shows in movement, good coat and well groomed.

OD (2/2)

VD (1/0)

1st Bradburyâ s Gelmoore Midwinter Magic at Fourastay â lovely 8 ½ year old male, of a good type who clearly enjoyed being in the ring. Good head, eyes and ears, teeth a bit small but this could be age, good coat, well presented and handled, moved ok. I would have preferred a bit more layback of shoulder. Reserve Best Dog & Best Veteran in Show.

Special Beginners D/B (2/1)

1st Johnsonâ s Lucky Star Fairy â 6 month old female, nice head and eye, good ears. A bit long in body at the moment, good tailset. Was not very confident on the move.

MPB (3/0)

1st Burnsâ Burneze Hello Dolly â Lovely 8 month old female of good shape and proportions, wellshaped head, dark eye, good bite and well placed ears. Good layback of shoulder, correct length of upperarm, good topline and good rear angulation, and tailset. Moved with drive, well presented and handled. The most difficult decision of the day between male and female pups but in the end the eyes did it for me, whenever I looked her in the eye she was staring straight back at me. Best Puppy in Show.

2nd Thomsonâ s Circinus Circus Star to Ashgate â 8 month old female with a lot of good qualities but would prefer a slightly better layback of shoulder, level topline, Good tailset, enough rear angulation, well presented.

LB (3/0)
1st Noyceâ s Forever Friends De New Gryffindor At Maxula â one I have judged some time ago, at the time I liked her but there was something missing. It was all there today, good size, nice head, bite ok, nice well placed ears, good shoulders going into a level back, good tailset, moved well.

2nd Bradburyâ s Fourastay Fedora â another nice female of correct size, good shape head, good ears, nice shoulder placement, good tailset, moved ok. For me she could have done with a bit less hair to accentuate her shape more.

OB (4/2)

1st Edmondsonâ s Highcross Prosecco at Pepabby - Was pleased to see her come into the ring and was looking forward to put my hands on her, I have watched her ringside on several occasions and liked her a lot. Female of the correct shape and size, strong skull with good eye, good bite and well placed ears, nice layback of shoulder and correct length of upper arm, level topline that she kept on the move, good tailset, correct rear angulation with the hocks under the body, necessary for the correct movement. Well presented and handled. To me this is a true to type westie. Best Bitch & Best in Show.

2nd Bradburyâ s Lizandycris Misschieves at Fourastay â A nice female of good size, good head and ears, level topline, moved and showed well.

Brace (1/0)

1st Bradbury â lovely couple of westies who were having fun going around the ring, nice type.
