Critique for The West Highland White Terrier Club Championship Show 1st October 2016
I would like to thank all the exhibitors who entered under me; it is an honour to be invited to judge a Breed Club championship show. It was a shame quite a few were absent especially in males. Overall I did not find any major concerns though teeth could be bigger and while they all had scissor bites quite a few were just a scissor and no more. Movement on the whole was good as was temperament.

Spec Bg Dog(1)
1. Fisher’s Havasu Head Boy, raw 6 month old puppy, good head and expression, excellent mouth with big teeth, Good return of upper arm,  layback of shoulder ok, strong bone, slightly long coupled but kept his topline on the move. Harsh coat is just coming through, moved well.

MPD (2)
1. Dale’s Lynnsto Special Agent, 7 month old attractive young dog, good head, mouth ok correct shoulder angulation giving a good reach of neck without exaggeration, short coupled, strong backend lovely straight white harsh coat, excellent presentation, level topline, moved true. Should have a bright future. BPD
2. Fisher’s Havasu Head Boy

PD (2)
1. Fryer’s Hopecharm Hanky Panky, very compact puppy, head ok, good mouth, good shoulder angulation but carrying too much weight which makes him look a bit stuffy in neck. Short coupled, strong backend good bend of stifle, moved well.
2.Tullis’s Drumsheugh McClintock, probably the best head of the day, lovely expression, mouth ok, not as good in shoulder as 1 but good hind angulation, I liked his overall balance, rather unsettled on the table but moved well on the floor. Coat needs time but will be good when it is through properly.

JD (1)
1. Jenkins, Crockett and Western’s Havasu HerculePoirot, lovely young dog, good head and expression, good mouth, excellent shoulder giving correct reach of neck into level topline, Short coupled, good tailset, strong hindquarters, good bend of stifle, moves effortlessly round the ring. Confident showman, pleased to award him CC & BOS

YD (1, 1)
GD (2, 1a)1. Mitchell’s Lord Leonardo at Franzandmitch Compact dog, good head and mouth, good bone, layback of shoulder could be better, so runs downhill a bit. Short coupled, good backend, not happy on the table, not making the most of himself there or on the move.

PGD (3)
1. Cooper’s Brorastar Wanna Be Your Man. I liked the balance of this young dog, good head and expression, good mouth. Well laid shoulders, strong hindquarters. Slightly narrow in front but that will improve as he matures. Lovely coat, moves well
2. Purchon’s Lindenka I’m Dexter, Good head, mouth okay, short coupled, good tailset and hind angulation, just preferred the shoulder of 1, moves and shows well.
3. Fisher’s Bobo Whiskey

LD (4,3a)
1. Szulzycka’s Neuvoldemort Al Capone, well balanced dog, head ok, good reach of neck, , shoulder okay, level topline, excellent coat but would prefer less furnishings. Good tailset and hind angulation, moves well. For some reason this coat felt tacky.

OD (6, 4a)
1. Purchon’s Ch Lindenka Chesterman well balanced dog, good head and expression, well angulated forequarters giving a good reach of neck, level topline, coat of correct texture and length, good hind angulation with excellent tailset, moves and shows so well for his handler – RCC
2. Jenkins, Crockett and Flamang’s Matisse Vom Maerchengarten, Compact dog who shows so well. Good head and mouth, a bit too wide in front for me, short coupled, level topline, strong hindquarters which power him round the ring, just preferred the front assembly of 1.

VD (3.1a)
Tullis’s Drumsheugh True Grit, 10 year old who belies his years, lovely head and expression. Correct reach of neck into well laid shoulders, short coupled, harsh coat, good hind angulation, nothing exaggerated about him, moves and shows well.
2. Pearson’s Winoski Mr Chips, almost 8 years old, another compact dog, good head, biggest teeth of the day, good shoulder and depth of rib, short coupled, strong back end but not entirely happy on the move.

MPB (3,1a)
Two very nice young bitches, both should do well in the future if they fulfil their promise. I was told afterwards they are related.
1. Dale’s Lynnsto Evelyn All, very nice head, correct proportions, neat ears, good mouth, Well laid shoulders, correct reach of neck, level topline which she held on the move, short coupled with good depth of rib, good rear assembly, moves well.
2. Pearson’s Braxquin One In A Million, I loved her attitude, she was taking everything in when she was in the ring. Lovely head and expression, similar comments apply as 1 just not as good in shoulder, moves and shows so well.

PB (2)
1.Fryer’s Hopecharm Christmas Rose, very nice puppy bitch, I liked her size and balance, head okay, good mouth, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, short coupled, lovely coat which was well presented, Well angulated without exaggeration, strong hindquarters, moves and shows very well. BPB and BPIS
2. Tullis’s Drumsheugh White Diamond, rangier bitch than 1, like her brother in PD she has an excellent head and good mouth, good straight front, coat is coming but not at its best yet. Good hind angulation moves and shows well, just preferred the shoulder of 1.

Smaller bitch, very compact, good head and mouth, lovely reach of neck into well laid shoulders, short back, tail on top, excellent hind angulation which drives her round the ring, moves and shows so well, close decision, I had to split hairs,  I just preferred the free front movement of 1.
