WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE SOUTHERN COUNTIES 15

West Highland White Terriers

The overall quality was rather mixed, like it is everywhere. There were differences in size & proportions. There were some long bodied ones & some with coats not hard enough. I was very pleased with the line-up for challenge both in dogs & bitches. Grooming in general left a lot to be improved. There were many who had far too long hair hanging underneath the body, which makes the dog look heavy & low to ground, & many had also too much hair on their heads, which only makes the head look too large & out of balance. Having done grooming professionally for about 20 years of my life I know exactly how hard work it is to keep the wire haired dogs in show condition, but it is easier when the coat texture is correct. More & more hair is not better & better! Also the hair on head, legs & belly should be stripped & kept tidy.

MPD (5,1a)

1 Foster’s Hillsted Masquerade at Thozow, well developed, short, compact body, excellent topline, good bone, clean white colour & well pigmented;

3 Anthony’s Charmedautum Willis.

JD (3)

1 Johnson’s Roxholm Ready To Rumble with Salmark, short, compact dog with excellent topline. Excellent head, good pigmentation. Still needs to body up, good coat texture, colour could be cleaner;
