WESTIE SOUTHERN COUNTIES 09 Judge(s) HANS LEHTINEN [FINLAND] DCC LAMSMORE FITZWRITIN (MR A GORDON) West Highland White Terriers A big entry but as usual the first time one judges a breed you get big numbers. Anyone wants to have a try with a new name. The overall quality was very pleasing & there were many excellent exhibits. I was a bit surprised about the way of grooming WHWT nowadays. Many dogs had far too much coat on the heads & you could hardly see the eyes. As well the furnishing under the body was too long giving a heavy expression that many Scottish Terriers would envy. I also noticed that some experienced breeders had used the clippers a bit too much on the ears & fronts. Thinking about the conformation of the dogs I like to mention the fronts in general. There were quite a few number of straight fronts, short in upper arm & with flat feet standing east & west. Some were moving quite widely in front & some could have had more rear action. I also saw narrow skulls & some were lacking stops. The dogs were in good condition had also excellent coat textures. Toplines were very good with floating over the shoulders as well as the set ones. MPD (7,3a) 1 Purchon’s Lindenka Sullivan, well constructed, very pleasing outline, should not grow anymore; 2 MacBean’s Pryorvale Euro Star, puppy of good model, in excellent condition, good coat, a bit straight in front; 3 Budge’s Charmedautum Dazzle. PD (5,1) 1 Dale’s Lynnsto Barclaycard, very smart puppy, very promising, well built, he was among the best movers, in top form; 2 Griffiths’ Karamynd Play It Again, well balanced, beautiful head, full of spirit, good coat. Needs better front angulation; 3 Thomson’s Duskhunter French Connects. JD (5,2) 1 Minett’s Duskhunter Dutch Courage, very nice shape, lovely head & expression, well made body, moved well. RCC; 2 West’s Karamynd Playing Away at Tomlyndon, nice head & beautiful neck, very good coat texture, shade wide in front. Slightly more leg would complete the side picture; 3 Squire’s Dashing Devil’s Shotgun. YD (1) 1 Bezuidenhout’s Lamanzie Crackerjack, well constructed dog, good body, beautiful neck & topline, good coat, he needs a little bit more ring presence. GD (1) 1 Millen’s Sarmac Starlite Express, well bodied, nice size, good head, needs a stronger topline, he was one of the few with absolutely the correct length of coat & of good texture. PGD (9) 1 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Oulaw, very nice sihouettte & excellent movements with good reach, he looks still young but can surely improve; 2 Gaydon’s Gilbri Willwontee, in top condition, beautiful head, very nice in body shape, his front is not his best part; 3 Carlin & Gillott’s Lizandycris Pick Of The Pack. LD (9) 1 Gordon’s Lamsmore Fitzwritin, he caught my eye, he was absolutely beautifully prepared for the show, nice expression & beautiful head, lovely neck & topline, well made body with the correct form of ribcage, correct mover. CC & BOB; 2 Thomson’s Ashgate Us Patriot, excellent general appearance, very nice head, well bodied, in good coat & shape; 3 Dale’s Lynnsto Mastercard. OD (8) 1 Griffiths’ Ch Karamynd Play The Game, very nice dog, beautiful outline, well constructed, excellent coat quality, I believe that even less coat should be enough, I always like to see eyes of the WHWTs; 2 Purchon’s Lindenka Bennington, nice outline, good body, beautiful head & expression, very nice dog; 3 Abbey’s Kristajen Know It All. V (2) 1 Dingley’s Ch Davot Chivalrous Chap, in good shape for his age, nice body & good mover; 2 Barton’s Ryebeck Willow The Wisp, nice but like to see a little bit more of everything, the coat was a little short. MPB (8,1) 1 Jennings’ Llovall A Real Deal at Comdale, most promising & eyecatching, has everything a rising star needs. BP; 2 MacBean’s Pryorvale Rock It Girl, puppy of good sort, very similar to 1, not in full coat; 3 Dunne’s Charsomack Candlelight. PB (4,1) 1 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Bramble, beautiful bitch of good quality, beautiful head & expression, well balanced & good shape; 2 Ash’s Hillcloud Cirrus Sky, very nice when standing but she did not give her best in the ring; 3 Harper’s Westigo In On The Act. JB (7,2) 1 Gaydon’s Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri, delicate bitch, beautiful outline, in excellent form, overall very promising, she should have a bright future. LB (10,3) 1 Steemson’s Bocans Hot Stuff, lovely on her tip toes, she has a lot of type & quality. RCC; 2 Squire’s Krisma Joyrider, liked her, compact with excellent head, very nice shape; 3 Hughes’ Brychdyn Kite Mark. OB (11,2) 1 Corr’s Ch Inverglen Sula, really a beautiful bitch, short & compact, excellent coating; 2 Thomson’s Ashgate Ardlussa, full of quality, correct shape, beautiful all over; 3 Cooper’s Ashgate Camellia.
