WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE SOUTH WALES 12

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER

Thank you for this lovely entry, it was so good to stand in the middle of the ring again. Since I last judged the numbers of exhibits has really dropped and with it an increased divide between good and bad. The good were really good, with many classes being difficult to separate, and the bad were really! Two main points of difference I noted, small teeth were in the majority (4 incorrect mouths) and a lot of exhibits had pink skin pigment patches on their chests. My only other niggle on the day was the condition of some exhibits, it's a show! So make sure they are wearing their best clothes and are bikini diet fit. Thank you to my steward who worked so hard at keeping me on the move and trying to hurry me up.

MPD (5)

Encouragingly good class of nice youngsters.

1 Smith's Lizandycris Call My Bluff at Roxberg. A well balanced pup who held his top line and carried himself round the ring so well with his sound movement and correctly set and held tail.

2 Corri's Inverglen Lowen'N'Behold. Close decision, cobbier type to 1, sound but just not as settled on the move, a lovely head, good stop and dome with neat well placed ears.

3 Fryer's Hopecharm Star Ship Trouper.

JD (2)

Two very different types.

1 Hughes' Brychdyn Diamond Geezer. Free standing boy with an excellent head, good length of neck and short back. Moved soundly fore & aft and won the class on how well he covered the ground on the move.

2 Jennings' Comdale Johnny Boy. Unlucky to meet 1 sound overall with an excellent spring of rib, harsh jacket but not so good in head.

GD (1)

1 Hayton's Pedrohay Roberto. Straight front, harsh coat, nice head and eye, not settled on the move.

PGD (2)

1 Corri's Inverglen Lord of the Manor. A sound moving dog with a harsh jacket and good eye. Correct mouth and excellent pigmentation.

2 Stock's Lindenka Baxter. Very harsh coated dog with a dark eye and sound movement who would have benefited from carrying much less weight.

LD (2)

1 Dale's Something Special Superbia Lynnsto. The stand out winner of this class. Such an eye catching dog, presented and handled to perfection. Straight front, excellent length of neck into well laid shoulders Tail set bang on top and good rear angulation, moved soundly fore & aft. Very close decision in the ticket, the winner just had the edge on energy going round the ring.

2 Thomson's Ashgate McKenzie.

OD (4)

1 Britten's Ch Walk The Line Vom Diepen Brook to Krisma. Have liked this stallion of a dog ever since he appeared as a puppy. Won on his overall balance and movement. He has a lovely head correct eye and nice neat well placed ears, good length of neck and excellent shoulders, well placed without any heaviness. Short back and good tail set, well angulated rear end. Covered the ground so well on the move with his top line held at all times. CC and BOB.

2 Lewis' Ch Lynnsto Man About Town. Another dog I have always liked, such a worthy champion. Credit to his handler on his pristine top coat. He has all the essentials and more, was very unlucky today. Pushed 1 hard but had to give way on movement, he just didn't seem to want to settle on the move, I would have preferred to see him carrying a little less weight. 3 Moreton's Ir Ch Havasu Hey Dude for Swifdon.

VD (2)

1 Davison's Antonia Apple pie at Braxquin. Tall dog with a good straight front, harsh white coat and good tail set. 2 Lynch's Bobby Jozef at Linacrelads.

MPB (5)

1 Jennings' Comdale Charlie Girl. Raw 6 month old pup with all the essentials every where. She is so well balanced and used her good conformation to such good effect on the move. Her movement is so sound, she held her top line always and never dropped her tail. She excels in head and coat, which was well presented. She fought off more mature and experienced opposition to steal the RCC. I will watch her with interest.

2 Hands' Crinan Calista. Free standing bitch who is larger and heavier than 1 but still very sound in confirmation and movement.

3 Hammett's Holloview Madame Sophie.

PB (6)

1 Lewis's Bellevue Daydream at Leodhas. Such a sweet cobby bitch, very feminine head and expression, good length of neck and shoulder placement, very short back, nicely angulated rear end and straight front, moved soundly fore & aft.

2 Lancaster's Clanestar Cloud Chaser. Very different type to 1 but still so good, the best of coats and so well constructed in front and rear, which showed with her sound movement with an economy of effort.

3 Moreton's Brychdyn Carrie On Swifdon.

JB (9)

1 Dunne's Hillcloud Ice Flake. WICKED! A real varminty expression and attitude to match, She stretched her handlers abilities to the limit. The look this bitch gave to the MPB winner in the challenge when she got in her way was priceless. Good neck, shoulders, short back and tail set. Moved soundly with enough fizz for the whole class and some!

2 Dale's Lynnsto Eye Candy. A really well constructed bitch I have admired, immaculately presented as always. Today she was just not happy on the move which was even more noticeable in comparison to 1.

3 Britten's Krisma Storm In A Teacup.

GB (1)

1 Hayton's Pedrohay Silver Magnolia. Stood alone in this class like her litter brother in GD, all the same remakes apply here.

PGB (5)

1 Rose's Jopeta Jorja On My Mind. 2 Stock's Lindenka Apple Charlotte.

3 Hammett's Holloview Ellie Jo.

LB (6)

1 Burn's Burneze Plan Bea. Really thought this was going to be my winner in bitches today as I went over her on the table. She is so very eye catching, a tall girl who stands solidly four square, superbly presented. She had the best mouth of the day, correct bite and BIG teeth. Good straight front and shoulder placement, very short coupled, excellent rear angulation. Such sound movement but in the challenge dropped her tail and was out moved by the MPB.

2 Jennings' Comdale Starr. Unlucky to meet 1, smaller bitch with a good length of neck running into a short back, nice rear angulation and tail set on top, sound movement, hard well presented coat, not as good in head as 1.

3 Woodward's Standeridge Star Spangled von Fernsunrise.

OB (4)

3 very good bitches.

1 Gaydon's Ch Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri. Would like to put nothing more needs to be said about this bitch as her record speaks for itself. A dog doesn't win this much without being superb. She is a dream to go over with her excellent conformation and then she puts it all together on the ground, out moving the opposition with ease. Her coat was in an immaculate condition. The difference she has is something else that can't be bred for, that immeasurable X-Factor! Think this was her 22nd CC wow!

2 Griffiths' Karamynd Drama Queen. Cobby bitch with a lovely head good stop and dome, good length of neck into excellent shoulders, short back and tail set on top, moved soundly but didn't hold her top line and her jacket could have been in better condition.

3 Carlin & Gillott's Ch Lizandycris Aint She Grand.
