WEST HIGHLAND WHITE SKC MAY 15 Judge: Mr A H Brace (Tragband) BEST OF BREED : 3853 WEST, Mr I & Mrs F & WEST Mr T Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest JW WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE SKC 15 West Highland White Terriers MPD (1 ) 1 Dale’s Lynnsto Gunner Be a Star, very smart puppy to start the day with, 7 months full of quality, excellent head & expression, firm solid body, correct angulation, well ribbed, firm backline with tail bang on top & well carried. Moves true up & down, promising coat well presented. RCC & BP. JD (1) 1 Noyce’s Armadale’s Son Of A Gun at Maxula, 13 months, very masculine head, ears a little low set but basically well balanced. Good length of neck, well bodied but could be better let down behind. Movement could be a little firmer, coat texture OK. PGD (3) 1 Fisher’s Bobo Whiskey, well made & well balanced, quality head, excellent bite, stands well on his legs, good coat texture but more could have been made of his coat. True mover; 2 Windram’s Louie Conquistador, good basic type, balanced head, but not using his ears to advantage & preferred dentition of 1. Firm backline, again good coat texture but presentation could be better. Moved soundly enough; 3 Ladhams & Rudd’s Juraspirit Caimbaul. LD (2) 1 Dale’s Hopecharm Edd Turner at Lynnsto, very well presented, excellent overall type, pleasing head & expression, balanced outline, firmly bodied, quality coat, could be firmer in hock but still moved smartly, albeit with too forward tail carriage; 2 Windram’s Leonardo Ventura, not as well presented & not as on his toes as 1 but he is a basically typical dog, soundly put together, well bodied with a strong head. OD (2) 1 West’s Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest, ultra-smart, beautifully balanced & sensibly but not too dramatically presented. Very impressive head, expression & general forehand, excellent neck & topline, firm solid body, harsh coat, well set & carried tail, super mover, dead true up & down & stylish in profile. Great to go over on the table & carried himself with style, purpose & accuracy. Easily CC & BOB & delighted to watch him take G2 in a very strong terrier group under Mike Vickers; 2 Jenkinson’ss Highcross Willie Be Charmed, superb coat texture, not quite as classical in head as 1 but very solid, basically well balanced, not the tail carriage or front movement of 1. VD (1) 1 Tullis’ Drumsheugh True Grit, 8½, dead sound on the move, appealing head & expression, well balanced & bodied, tail carriage could be a little more assertive, quality coat in good order for his age. MPB (2) 1 Morton’s Swifdon Sweet Surrender, 8 months with pleasing head type, typical expression, sound & smart mover, well bodied, pleasing coat sensibly presented; 2 Woodward’s Fernsunrise Fly The Flag, 6 months & very raw by comparison, a little longer in foreface, not as firm in topline & movement not so true up & down. Promising coat texture, excellent pigment. PB (1) 1 Burns’ Burneze Geordie Girl, 10 months & what a little gem. Standing she is an absolute picture with the most glorious head & expression, superb pigment, copybook outline with perfect topline & tailset & her presentation was flawless. Moving could have just had a little more enthusiasm & used her rear more determinedly but she is stunning. In the challenge she didn’t really try but had I just judged static pictures she could well have gone further. BPB & should end up with her crown. JB (3) 1 Griffiths’ Armadale’s Rosebud for Karamynd, strongly made bitch of 14 months, well balanced head, typical head & expression, well boned & bodied with workmanlike coat sensibly presented. Well angulated front & rear, firm backline, well set & carried tail. Smart mover, just needs to tighten in front a little but in the challenge she really sparkled & went around with determination so won her first CC; 2 Burns’ Burneze Diamond Diva, close coated 10 months bitch of quality, & I see litter sister to the exciting Puppy winner. Another with an engaging head & expression, excellent overall proportions, just not quite the rear angulation of 1 but still she moves well holding a firm topline & carrying her tail confidently; 3 Dale’s Lynnsto Bling In The Ring. PGB (3) 1 Woodward’s Fernsunrise Face The Music, well balanced bitch of good basic type, pleasing head & expression, good neck, firm backline, well set & carried tail, quality coat, looks good going around but comes on a little wide; 2 Ladhams & Rudd’s Juraspirit Jonquil, longer, lower & not as well presented. Stronger head than 1, moves well behind but even wider than 1 in front; 3 Crozier’s Carshairn Caol Ila. LB (4) 1 Jenkinson’s Highcross Charmer, solid, typical bitch nicely presented, attractive head & expression, well pigmented, good neck & firm topline, moves out with reach & drive but comes on a little wide in front; 2 Noyce’s Maxula Box Of Tricks, not quite the expression of 1 & she tends to stand & move rather wide in front. Set up she makes a very typical picture but on the move didn’t quite have the scope of 1; 3 Smith’s Lingbeck Playing The Lady. OB (2) 1 Smith’s Ch Faymar Fine Romance, mature bitch, well bodied, very pleasing head & forehand, good basic shape, quality coat, handles very well on the table & was very well conditioned. smart mover but could just be a little firmer in hock. Still her overall quality & correctness took her through to the RCC; 2 Morton’s Swifdon Stormy Days, essentially excellent type, another solidly made bitch with decent headpiece but tends to break a little in topline. Moves quite soundly. VB (2) 1 Smith’s Lingbeck Leading Lady, 8½ year old of excellent type & in great order for her age, pleasing head & expression, well balanced outline with still firm backline & well set tail. Goes around smartly but comes on a little wide; 2 C Cao Ila, rather outclassed by 1 & presentation left a lot to be desired but she is basically typical & well bodied. ANDREW H BRACE |
