WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE SKC AUGUST 16

West Highland White Terriers

A disappointing entry numerically but fortunately amongst the few which attended there was some lovely quality. Thrilled to hear that young the BOB bitch had won the group & I watched her go BIS from a really strong line up, judged by Mr Cool himself, Sigurd Wilberg.

PD (1)

1 BP, Tullis’ Drumsheugh McLintock, just 9 months & needing lots of time to develop in forechest. All male in head with a delightful eye & expression, good reach of neck, well sprung ribs & fairly compact in outline. Tail well set & carried, in very good coaty & his side action is even striding. Just a trifle narrow in front when fore viewed.

PGD (3,1a)

1 Windram’s Leonardo Ventura, 5 year old but acting half that age & still spritely on the move. Pleasing head, lovely mouth & jet black nose. Carries his ears well, quite well bodied & went around the ring with a touch of arrogance;

2 Fisher’s Bobo Whiskey, nice head shape with a decent degree of stop & ample muzzle. Ears could be higher set & carried to improve his expression, nicely bodied with a good tailset & carriage. Did not give of his on the move as he is somewhat short stepping in front.

LD (1)

1 RCC, Noyce’s Armadales Son Of A Gun at Maxula, such a well presented dog of love size & substance. Really appealing head, eyes & expression though at times lets his ears hang a little low. So well ribbed, good length in neck & excellent head carriage both on the stack & when moving. He was a credit in coat & presentation & he moved around the ring with such purpose.

OD (3,1)

1 CC, West’s Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest, really the complete package & shrieks quality. Loved everything about him, his head, construction, coat texture, presentation & he moves about with an air of self belief bordering on swagger. Never gives up showing, is outstanding on the move & only bowed the knee to his daughter who went on to win the group & BIS. I recall learning post judging that this is his 20 somethingth CC. Nuff said!

VD (3,1)

1 Tullis’ Drumsheugh True Grit, 10 years old & still bright eyed & bushy tailed & ready for anything. His coat was spotless, his eyes remain so alive & dark & he has muscles which defy his age & are testament of his fitness & the exercise he must enjoy. A charmer;

2 Lynch’s Bobby Jozef at Linacrelads, a year older & not quite the litheness of the winner on the move. Has a such a kind & knowing expression, is well bodied, good bone legs & feet & is well coated.

PB (1)

1 Tullis’ Drumsheugh White Diamond, I’d like a more defined stop & she needs to come together with maturity as she stands a little long cast at present. She scores in having such good eyes, the neatest of ears, ample reach in neck, well sprung ribcage & a very correct tail carriage. Took time to settle on the move but once she did, she was quite sound.

JB (1)

1 Burns’ Burneze Copyright, I see is the first of three sisters, all sired by the DCC winner. What a pretty package this is. Delightful head & expression which will beguile many admirers. Ultra short coupled, beautiful ribcage, short loin, tail bang on top & straight. Her coat was flawlessly presented & she powered her way around the ring with such self belief that it made me smile. A certain ch.

PGB (5,2)

1 Burns’ Burneze Billie On Air, another with that air of sheer class & quality that it is impossible to ignore her. Again that long neck, super headpiece & carriage, spotless harsh coat, tail bang on where we want it, amply weighted boned with good feet & she drives her way around the ring with effortless ease. Another which will attract green & white cards very soon;

2 Jenkinson’s Highcross Crystal Charm, a nice bitch but not giving of her best as she did not like the noise in the hall. Delightful to go over, certainly compact. Well muscled hindquarters, well balanced head with well shaped dark eyes & a strong foreface. Not quite the reach in neck of the first & although quite sound, not the alertness & power of the winner;

3 Smith’s Highcross Precious Charm to Lingbeck.

LB (6,2)

1 RCC, Griffith’s Top Secret De New Gryffindor at Karamynd, I really liked this bitch & she had to be of outstanding quality to win the RCC in this company. So short coupled, well spring ribs, firm loin, beautifully set & carried tail, well laid shoulders, straight forelegs with well padded feet, the harshest of topcoats. Her head handles so well, slight dome with a good stop definition & excellent eyes. She moved out so well & I’m sure her crown will not be far away;

2 Smith’s Faymar Tartan Fling, another stunning example of the breed & as always, presented to perfection. Like the RCC winner she oozes breed type at its best, has a lovely headpiece, excellent neck & body, just that little longer cast than those I put over her but surely she too will become ennobled with time;

3 Jenkinson’s Highcross Charmer.

OB (4,2)

1 CC, BOB, G1 & BIS, Burns’ Burneze Our Marnie, just 13 months & when I awarded her the CC I thought it must be her first at that tender age. After BOB I was told that it is her 5th CC...wow! She certainly has the ‘It’ factor for me. Simply stunning, shrieks breed type in spades, does everything you would ask & never stops showing. She is a powerhouse on the move with an almost cocky attitude as she circles the ring with an air of invincibility. A joy to judge & certainly one for the memory book;

2 Coley’s Karamynd So What at Kingsview, how unlucky to meet such a star! She is an extremely good quality bitch, big head which is well furnished, lovely eyes & ears, so well constructed, beautiful ribbing & loin, level back, in excellent coat & she moved out soundly.

VB (2)

Both 8 years old. The winner was in better jacket & benefitted from improved presentation while I gave the second the edge in having the better eye & expression. Both still active on the move, of good size & have kept in fit condition.

1 Windram’s Cochansa Dales Pride;

2 Andrew’s Kellethrigg Christmas Rose at Rupann.
