WEST HIGHLAND WHITE SKC AUGUST 15 Judge: Mrs M Purchon BEST OF BREED : 4666 HUGHES Mr A I & Mrs E Ch Brychdyn Diamond Geezer WEST HIGHLAND WHITE SKC AUGUST 15 West Highland White Terriers I would like to thank the exhibiters for giving me the chance to go over their lovely dogs. Fortunately there were no health issues evident but the breed in general is beginning to lose the good heads that the Standard requires & no amount of long hair will compensate. Grooming plays a big part with this breed but underneath should be a working terrier with good bone & substance. My BOB went to Hughes’ Ch Brychdyn Diamond Geezer & I was delighted to see him get G3 & my BP was Cooper’s Brorastar Wanna Be Your Man. He did the breed proud by getting PG1. MPD (2) 1 Cooper’s Brorastar Wanna Be Your Man, he is a smart well balanced puppy. His broad head carries neat correctly placed ears & his strong muzzle has a correct bite. With a short back & good angulation he held a level topline on the move; 2 Bell’s Pentangle High Five, a pleasing puppy to go over but slightly larger than 1. When stacked he looked good but he was reluctant to keep his tail up on the move. He was very apprehensive in the ring but I am sure this will all change as he matures. PD (2,1a) 1 Anthony’s Charmedautum Willis, very outgoing puppy just 4 days short of his birthday. Good head, neat ears & correct bite. Level topline & tail on top. Lovely harsh coat & moved true both back & front. Looking a little bit long at the moment but maturity should sort that. JD (2,1) 1 Dunne’s Charosmack Codron Flite One, very smart young dog. Lovely strong head with good stop & broad muzzle. Correct bite. Well laid shoulders, short back & tail on top. Correct movement both fore & aft but he had other ideas when it came to being stacked. However, he eventually gave in & he was well worth waiting for as he became worthy of getting the RCC. I was informed afterwards that this was his first time in the show ring. PGD (3) 1 Kinnaird’s Pepperknowe Och-Aye-The-Noo, correct head with neat ears. Lovely big teeth with correct bite. Level topline which he held on the move. Carried his tail on top & all covered with a harsh coat; 2 Windram’s Louie Conquistador, more mature dog. Pleasant head with strong muzzle. Good layback of shoulder but slightly longer in the back. Harsh coat but I would have preferred a little less of it. Moved well; 3 Fisher’s Bobo Whiskey. LD (2,1) 1 Windram’s Leonardo Ventura, similar attributes to his litter brother in previous class but not as outgoing on the move. OD (6,3) 1 Hughes’ Ch Brychdyn Diamond Geezer, & what a diamond. Lovely head that really filled my hand. Well defined stop, broad muzzle with correct bite & dark eyes of the correct shape. All topped off with neat ears that he uses. Good layback of shoulder & short level back. Short coupled & with a good bend of stifle & firm hocks. Wearing a beautifully prepared jacket & with his tail on top he sailed around the ring as if he owned it. A worthy winner of the CC, BOB, he later went on to G3; 2 West’s Ch Tomlyndon Eager Earnest, a lovely dog to go over. So very close to 1 but I preferred the hind movement of 1; 3 Engelbrecht V Orden’s Int Ch Multi Hopecharm Prince Harry. VD (1) 1 Tullis’ Drumshaugh True Grit, 9 years but certainly doesn’t look it. Strong head, well defined stop, dark eye & broad muzzle. Correct bite. Short back & well muscled hind. Harsh coat well presented & correct movement. Just wish he had held his tail a bit better on the move. MPB (4,1) 1 Smith’s Highcross Precious Charm to Lingbeck, very smart baby obviously enjoying her day out. Feminine head with good expression. Perfect bite with lovely big teeth not often seen on one so young. Good layback of shoulder & short back. Correct movement both fore & aft & she held her topline on the move; 2 Jenkinson’s Highcross Cristal Charm, litter sister to 1 & so much alike it was very hard to choose between them. However, I just preferred the ring presence of 1 on the day but I am sure they will change places many times in the future; 3 Cooper’s Brorastar Honey Pie. PB (3,1) 1 Fryer’s Pride And Precious Sweet White Angel by Hopecharm, pleasing puppy with a good head, neat ears & a correctly shaped dark eye. Good layback of shoulder & level topline. I would have preferred a little less hair as this spoiled her outline on the move; 2 Morton’s Swifdon Sweet Surrender, slightly smaller than 1 but with a very sweet expression. Very good neck & shoulders, level topline & carried her tail well. Moved well. JB (2,1) 1 Burns’ Burneze Geordie Girl, very dainty little girl. Head of the correct shape. Good neck & layback. Short back, well set tail & good angulation. Wearing her best dress she just flowed around the ring. Worthy of her RCC. PGB (4) 1 Fryer’s Hopecharm Ops A Daisy, liked this bitch a lot. Short & cobby with a good head. Nice reach of neck & correct shoulders. Good angulation & topped off with a lovely short tail. Just wish she had less hair as this spoiled the overall picture; 2 Burns’ Burneze Diamond Diva, lighter boned bitch than 1 but everything in the right place. Groomed to perfection she moved as one with her handler; 3 Kinnaird’s Pepperknowe Party. LB (3) 1 Smith’s Lingbeck Playing The Lady, well boned head with great expression. Broad muzzle with correct bite. Reach of neck & shoulders as they should be. Level topline, short coupled & well set tail. Good angulation & moved well. Just wish she wasn’t quite so fond of her dinner; 2 Jenkinson’s Highcross Charmer, another lovely bitch. Good head, correct reach of neck & well placed shoulders. Short back & tail on top. Not quite the topline of 1 as she tended to run up slightly at the back. Moved correctly; 3 Windram’s Carlola Show Girl. OB (3) 1 Lancaster’s Clanestar Cloud Chaser, what a lovely bitch to go over. No exaggerations. Good head, neat ears & dark eye. Strong muzzle with correct bite. Good layback & level topline. Short coupled & well angulated hindquarters. She moved true both fore & aft. Lovely harsh coat & groomed to perfection. CC; 2 Cooper’s Brorastar Ain’t She Sweet, compact little bitch. Lovely head & expression. Correct bite. Short coupled & tail on top. Carried herself well as she moved around the ring; 3 Morton’s Swifdon Stormy Days. VB (2,1) 1 Smith’s Lingbeck Leading Lady, 8 years & enjoying herself in the ring. Lovely head & expression. Short back & tail on top. Well angulated & moved well. Just wish she had a little less dinner. M PURCHON |
