WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE RICHMOND 12

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER

Thank you for entering and making my day an interesting one being the first appointment to judge this breed in UK. Some classes made for close decisions which make judging that more interesting. I would have liked to see more of true strong westie heads and strong hindquarters "wide across the top" as laid down in the breed standard. More is not always more. The breed is often the victim of overdone extreme presentation which does fool some eyes. Hands on is essential when judging. On the other side poor presentation and condition should not take you far. The first was no problem here but in some cases poor condition of coat had to play its part when placing otherwise excellent exhibits.

VD (1)

1 McLoughlin's Ley Hey Living Legend Sh.CM. 7 year in excellent muscular condition and showing very well. Very good over all balance, compact. Very good skull, eye and neat ears, would like more stop. Very good top line and set on, decent front, lay back of shoulder and rear angulations. Coat a bit open on the day. BV.

MPD (2,1)

1 Thomson's Ashgate Gleouraich. 6 months, strongly built compact male puppy. Very good bone. Short coupled. Excellent rib, top line and set on. Very good quarters. No small amount of self-esteem and showed beautifully for such a young one. A bit high stepping in front at times but thought that to be an effect of being so full of himself and wanting to please.

PD (3,1)

1 Dale's Lynnsto Truly Special. 10 months, very promising. Excellent type, compact, balanced outline, strong bone and head, ears a bit wide. Excellent top line and set on. Balanced angulations of quarters. Excellent presentation and coat condition. Showed and moved very well.

2 McLoughlin's Ley Hey Latest Legend. Most of above applies. Preferred lay back of shoulder and finish of 1. Moved and showed very well.

JD (5,1)

1 Jennings' Comdale Johnny Boy. 12 months. Strongly built compact male. Strong skull and foreface, very good ear and eye, clean shoulder, very good front and depth of chest and rib, excellent top line. Hindquarters strong, powerful action on the move. Excellent presentation and coat.

2 West's Tomlyndon Power of Love. 12 months. Handles very well. Lots to like about him. Moved and showed so well but would like him to keep his top line better on the move and lacked finish of coat on the day.

3 Hayton's Pedrohay Roberto.

PGD (2)

1 Bezuidenhout's Lamanzie Crackerjack. Masculine. Very good bone and muscular condition. Good head, big wide ears. Nice top line standing but would like him to keep it better on the move. Decent angulations of quarters. Movement could have more reach and drive.

2 Budge's Charmedautum Dazzle. Good size and type but I would like him stronger built all through. Very nice pigment. Very good top line and set on. Decent structure and action front and rear. Very nice coat.

LD (8,1)

Two attractive representatives of the breed to top this class.

1 Dale's Something Special Superbia Lynnsto. 23 months. Excellent type of male. Compact, very well balanced general appearance, strong bone. Clean shoulders and straight front. Very nice depth of chest and ribs. Excellent top line, short coupled, strong loin. Excellent mover and presentation second to none as all dogs from this breeder/handler.

2 Fox's Hillsted Same Again. Same age and almost same notes as 1. Liked him a lot. Just thought 1 had the edge on shoulder, coupling and rear action.

3 Noyce's Maxula Name of The Game.

OD (5,1)

Strong class but lack of condition and finish of coat had to have its say!

1 Britten's Ch Walk The Line Vom Deipen Brook to Krisma. Thought him to be the easy winner here. Smart, game and hardy. Excellent profile and balance, strong boned male in top muscular condition. Skull filled the hand very well, pleasing jaws. Neat ears, dark eyes and sharp expression. Clean shoulder and excellent top line standing and moving. Short strong coupling. Hindquarters strong and wide across the top, Moved and showed to perfection and in complete harmony with his handler. Presentation second to none. CC & BOB.

2 Lewis' Ch Lynnsto Man About Town Sh.CM. Very close up to 1 in most ways. Did not put all in on the move and not the animation and presence of 1. Res-CC.

3 Gordon's Ch Lamsmore Fitzwritin.

MPB (7)

Strong class headed by two very promising 8 months old puppy bitches. Should have a bright future in the show ring. Lots to like about both. Very typy and smart, balanced general appearance. Just thought 1 had the edge on lay back of shoulder and personality plus.

1 Gaydon's Gilbri Christmas Angel. BP.

2 Dale's Lynnsto Ultra Special. 3 Lewis' Bellevue Day Dream at Leodhas.

PB (2,1)

1 Mealing's Reifrandies Muirne. 11 months, good type. Feminine head and expression. Good bone. Very nice top line and set on. Decent front. Would like a bit stronger hindquarters and coat need time.

JB (9,2)

Strong class headed by three lovely bitches, will change places another day.

1 Britten's Krisma Storm In A Teacup. 12 months, caught my eye the minute she came into the ring (a daughter of BOB and apples don't fall far away from the apple tree). Excellent balance and general appearance as laid down in the breed standard. Skull filled the hand very well and good strength of foreface. Very good depth of chest and back ribs. Excellent top line and short coupling. Strong hindquarters, wide across top, used to advantage, which was the main reason for winning the class. Had the coat been in peak condition she would have been a strong contender for the CC. Res-CC.

2 Dale's Lynnsto Eye Candy JW. Very little to separate the two. 1 had the edge in stronger head and rear action.

3 Noyce's Maxula Box Of Tricks.

PGB (6,1)

1 Cooper's Brorastar Words Of Love. Very good balance and compact outline stacked. Very good head but ears set a bit wide which did not help the expression. Excellent pigment and eye. Straight front. Decent lay back. Would have liked slightly stronger hindquaters. Moved and showed very well and presented in very good condition.

2 Fox's Comdale Miss January at Hillsted. Short backed compact bitch of very good type, balanced profile. Nice feminine head and expression, neat ears but a bit wide set and carried. Very nice top line and set-on. Good hindquarters and movement. Presented in very nice jacket.

3 Nas' Bellevue Foreign Affair.

LB (4,1)

1 Gale's Bellevue Dream Girl. Excellent type, outline and balance. Compact, very good depth of chest and back ribbing. Strong top line and excellent set-on. Very good front. Very good head, eye and expression but ears a bit wide. Moved and showed very well and presented in a close fitting double coat.

2 Davison's Braxquin Beginning A Dream. Much of above applies but preferred top line and presentation of 1.

3 Nas' Bellevue Foreign Affair.

OB (10,3)

1 Cooper's Brorastar Ain't She Sweet. Excellent type, profile balance and outline. Very honest and handles very well on the table. Strongly built yet feminine. Strong head and jaw. Excellent eye, ears well set and carried but a little broad at base. Balanced angulation front and rear, which is strong, serving her very well going around. Excellent top line, firm short back. Very well carried carrot tail balancing the head so well. Excellent condition and showing to advantage. Thought she had the edge in stronger head and bone. CC.

2 Dale's Lynnsto Platinum JW. Eye catching super feminine bitch. Excellent top line and set-on. Feminine head and expression, neat ears and lovely expression. Short coupled, very good depth of chest and rib. Straight true front, clean shoulder and strong short back and very good hindquarters. Moved and showed to perfection. Presentation second to none.

3 Gaydon's Ch Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri.
