50th SINGLE BREED CHAMPIONSHIP GOLDEN SHOW
Sunday 29th September 2019
Judge: Miss Nicola Foster (Thozow)
What an honour to be invited to judge this special event, not only did I have top quality dogs to select from; the club warmly welcomed everyone. Unfortunately the president Mrs Connie Hartman (Fritsilver) was unable to attend and she was most sorely missed.
It was a new venue at Kilwaughter Village Hall, in a beautiful village set on an autumnal day.
The hall was decorated with lots of balloons and trinkets, the beautiful rosettes were presented on a tree and the ring dressed with Westie plaques. There were lots of gifts from Sponsors to individual donations all on display. These included Leather leads from Essenjay Leather, grooming equipment from Cristies’s Direct, The Scissor Boutique and Top Trimz. There was also a Westie Hip Flask donated by Mrs Sue Hawes and the main winners jackets were beautifully made by Kirsten Fox. There were also slate plaques and my judges gifts supplied and uniquely made by Rachel Wray (Perrault Rosettes)
We were joined by the mayor who seemed to thoroughly enjoy her day and learnt a lot about our breed. We also had an overseas visitor from Sweden, Anne Kristine Wilson.
After judging was completed everyone sat together and had a lovely lunch which was provided by the club. Many thanks for all the hard work that was put in by the committee, to put on such a special day for everyone.
The day began with a free cup of tea/coffee and westie shortbread to all that attended.
The chairperson Modwena Johnston opened the event by asking for a minutes silence in respect of Mary Torbet. Kirsten Fox (My guest for the weekend) spent most of her day behind the camera capturing shots of all the dogs and the event. These are now published on the Club Website. It also needs to be mentioned that Julie Wall spent most of her day on the floor assisting Kirsten to get the best shots.
Many thanks also to my very experienced steward of the day Sharon Ames.
