WEST HIGHLAND WHITE MIDLAND COUNTIES 12 Judge(s): JEAN LANNING West Highland White Terriers A breed I always enjoy judging. One of the unspoilt breeds in that they have changed little over the years. Overall quality as always remains high, a number of dogs of the highest merit. My main criticism would be regarding size. Part of the charm of this breed is in its size & I did feel few were over the top. MPD (4) 1 Smith’s Lizandycris Call My Bluff at Roxberg, smart, sound, grand stamp, has time to firm in front action. BP; 2 Thomson’s Ashgate Gleouraich, giving away with age. As one expects from this kennel, lovely quality, good eye & pigment, can finish well; 3 Squires’ Kimgarwyn Defender. PD (2) 1 McLoughlin’s Ley Hey Latest Legend, good jacket. Tailset a little low. Needs time; 2 Strand’s Crinan Code Name, coat has time to harshen & topline firm. JD (4) 1 RCC, Jennings’ Comdale Johnny Boy, strong quarters, moving out well, coat has time to harshen; 2 Purchon’s Lindenka Donovan, can turn the tables, excellent coat. Not quite so collected on the move; 3 Hayton’s Pedrohay Roberto. PGD (6) 1 Jenkinson’s Highcross Willie Be Charmed, smart dog, excellent coat, moving & showing well. Colour could be clearer but a good pattern of the breed; 2 Molony’s Killynether Kolumbo, loved his size, neat dog of lovely quality & temperament. Could have been more positive on the move; 3 Stock’s Lindenka Baxter. LD (5) 1 Noyce’s Maxula Name Of The Game, much to recommend, excellent make, shape & coat; 2 Taylor’s Flassendale Fairlie, standing appeals for type & quality. Could be firmer in front; 3 Millen’s Sarmac Starlite Express. OD (6) 1 CC, Britten’s Ch Walk The Line vom Deipen Brook to Krisma, great Westie, smart, short backed with excellent coat, soundest of movers coming & going, has a glittering career. Just lost to the BOB as he became a little disinterested when the chips were down. I was reminded afterwards that I gave him his first RCC as a youngster; 2 Jenkins’ Ir Ch Havasu Hugo Boss, unlucky to meet 1. A classy dog of the highest order, pleasing size, could gain his UK title; 3 Dale’s Something Special Superbia Lynnsto. MPB (8) 1 Clements’ The Dashing Devils Precious Star, high class, has the look, strong quarters, good coat; 2 Jennings’ Comdale Charlie Girl, good mover, short back, excellent coat, lovely puppies; 3 Dale’s Lynnsto Crystal Kiss. PB (6) 1 Lancaster’s Clanestar Cloud Chaser, all quality, smart; 2 Lewis’ Bellevue Daydream at Leodhas, same excellent type, short back, excellent coat, can turn the tables; 3 Mealing’s Reifrandies Muirne. JB (10) 1 RCC, Dale’s Lynnsto Eye Candy, smart, pleasing size; 2 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Orchid, close up, excellent quality, short back, good jacket, this breed has some really classy youngsters about; 3 Hooper’s Yorsar Betsy Ross. PGB (4) 1 Stock’s Lindenka Apple Charlotte, good honest type, excellent coat. Overweight for the showring. LB (11) 1 Smith’s Lingbeck Playing The Lady, high class, cobby & so sound on the move; 2 Burns’ Burneze Plan Bea, another out the top drawer, up to size but lovely pattern; 3 Cooper’s Brorastar Words Of Love. OB (8) 1 CC & BOB, Steemson’s Bocans Hot Stuff, fills the eye with her great quality type & soundness, first class harsh jacket, short back, like the DCC she is a top show dog, I was spoilt for choice for BOB, on the final go-round she was so collected & won by a whisker. G4 in the strong terrier group; 2 Griffiths’ Ch Karamynd Drama Queen; 3 Cooper’s Brorastar Ain’t She Sweet. JEAN LANNING |
