WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE LEEDS 14

West Highland White Terriers

Many thanks to Leeds Society for my invite as replacement judge & to my two stewards for doing a great job. I must mention the ring which was not good, uneven ground with holes & long grass; this combined with the heat didn’t help the dogs at all unfortunately. Presentation & cleanliness on the whole was very good, but on the downside I found far too many level bites for my liking, which is worrying. Westies should have scissor bites!

PD (3,2a)

1 Purchon’s Lindenka Chesterman, nicely shaped 8 months boy, crisp white coat, well placed ears, tail on top, moved out well. JD (4,3) 1 West’s Tomlyndon Eager Ernest, this lad is out of the top drawer, super head with neat ears, well placed shoulders running into a short compact body, tail bang on top at all times, one of the few that handled the long grass & uneven ground, good front & rear action, a real showman who was expertly handled, a joy to watch. Great to see such an outstanding top quality young male, an absolute pleasure to award him the CC. Should have a bright future! Loved him!

PGD (7,4)

1 Bell’s Pentangle Hello Oscar, cobby dog with good reach of neck, clean in shoulder, well angulated backend, strong head with dark eye, moved better in the challenge, this boy gives his handler a hard time, presented in tip-top coat & condition. RCC;

2 McLoughlin’s Ley Hey Latest Legend, dark eye & pigment, level topline, moved & covered the ground well;

3 Windram’s Louie Conquistador.

LD (12,3)

1 West’s Tomlyndon Power Of Love, strongly built well-made dog, good balance & size, lovely masculine head with good expression, powerful rear action, a sound mover with good reach & drive;

2 Coley’s Kingsview Warwick, another strongly built dog with good reach of neck, harsh coat, preferred movement of 1;

3 Strand’s Crinan Code Name Westlake.

OD (9,2)

1 Noyce’s Ch Maxula Name Of The Game, 1 & 2 of different type, well constructed solid built dog with super head & ears, short coupled with excellent reach of neck, lovely shape, clean harsh coat, well presented, moved with drive;

2 Fox’s Ch Hillsted Same Again, well balanced male, taller to 1 which helped him move in the long grass, level topline, tail well set, coat & presentation A1;

3 Corri’s Inverglen Lord Of The Manor.

VD (2,1)

1 McLoughlin’s Ley Hey Living Legend, well balanced dog, coat of good harsh texture, showed & moved well. BV.

PB (4,2)

1 Davison’s Braxquin Forget Me Not, what a super baby! Lovely head with dark piercing eye, neat ears, good reach of neck running into good shoulders, well set tail, excellent sound movement. BP;

2 Purchon’s Lindenka Jelly Bean, not as finished as 1, good pigment & super white coat, clean shoulders leading into short back. A very raw baby.

2 McLoughlin’s Llovall Look Here Ley Hey, longer & lower than 1. Nicely presented, showed well;

3 Woodward’s Fernsunrise Forget Me Not.

OB (6,4)

1 Fox’s Ch Comdale Miss January at Hillsted, I have admired this very attractive lady from the ringside on many occasions & was not disappointed, she is absolutely stunning, excellent head with neat small ears & dark eye, good length of neck running into well laid clean shoulders, solid front, super angulated backend which she used to advantage, tail bang on top, very sound mover covering the ground with ease, excellent presentation as usual from this kennel without being overdone. Delighted to award her CC & BOB;

2 Smith’s Ch Faymar Fine Romance, very pretty bitch with a super head, good in shoulder running into compact body, tail on top, shapely backend, pure white harsh coat presented in excellent condition as always.
