WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE LKA 16

West Highland White Terriers

It was pleasure to judge the breed again &, considering that it was only 15 months ago that I last awarded CCs to the breed the entry was good. There were however quite a high number of dogs absent. I was very pleased by the top winners. Coats were pretty good on the whole, & I felt that heads were by & large also very good. Again I think that fronts need working on. Presentation was of a sensible standard & very few of the dogs present were over the top in this department.

My thanks go to my very hard working steward.

MPD (5,2a)

1 Berry’s Karamynd Star Player with Ashgate, a very smart puppy, moved better behind than in front. Good neck & was slightly more compact than 2. Good tailset, well carried. Head coming along well & good small ears;

2 Bartley’s Atelib The General, also moved well behind but not quite as compact in body as 1. Good feet. Needs time to develop in head & steady up somewhat in front. Good coat.

PD (3,1)

1 Walden’s Thozow Great Expectations for Taramount, very pleasing in head & expression, excellent neck. Really good in topline with the correct proportions of length to height. Moved pretty well in front & well behind. Good ears & scored there over 2. Good coat for age. Went on to be BP;

2 O’Connor’s Master Blaster Du Moulin De Mac Gregor, another pleasing pup & good coated with a good tail & tailset. Pleasing in head with enough stop. Good eye but not as good in ears as 1 & needs to pay a shade more attention to front movement when showing.

JD (3,1)

1 Master Blaster Du Moulin De M G;

2 Tadhunter’s Krypto The Vagabond Prince, an older dog with more maturity & somewhat more finished in head with correct stop & good expression, but moved a shade close behind & could be tidier in front. Good coat texture though needs a bit more of it to complete the picture.

PGD (5,3)

1 Bradbury’s Gelmoore Midwinter Magic at Fourastay, in much better coat than 2. Pleasing in head with good skull & excellent expression without being overdone. Good neck well carried, moved better behind than in front. Good tail & tailset. Good rib carried well back;

2 Stacey & Lloyd’s Charmhela’s Macho Man, another with a good head & expression & correct compact body. Tail carried a bit high & leg hair a shade overdone & not of good texture which spoiled his overall appearance. Moved better behind than in front.

LD (5,2)

A difficult class.

1 Lilley & Milling’s Lilmill Nosey Parker, not quite the head of 2 but was good in coat & moved better in front & was really good in neck flowing into correct topline. Good tail. Moved well behind were he strode out very well. Good outline which he held well going around the ring. Not small, but good in rib & correct in loin;

2 Thomson’s Fernsunrise Fairplay to Ashgate, very pleasing in head & expression but not quite the coat texture of 1 today but scored there over 3. Good tail & good hindquarters but could move somewhat more positively in front;

3 Gale’s Bocans Bolt To Bellevue.

OD (4,1)

1 Foster’s Hillsted Masquerade at Thozow, very pleasing dog with an excellent head & expression. He strode out well & was good in neck & topline which he held very well on the way around the ring. Pleasing hindquarters. Good coat of correct quantity & texture. Moved better in front than 2;

2 Gillott & Carlin’s Lizandycris Line Me Up, another really pleasing dog with a good expression & the correct level back & compact body. Good tail & OK in coat. Very pleasing outline standing, but today not quite the reach & drive of the winner & didn’t hold topline quite so well when seen in profile going around the ring;

3 Noyce’s Armadales Son Of A Gun at Maxula.

VD (1)

1 Lynch’s Bobby Jozef at Linacrelads, an 11 year old, very good in coat & texture of coat, good topline & body. Not thin. Correct tail. OK in hind movement. Feet could be better & his head stronger. Good bone.

MPB (7,3)

1 Griffiths’ Karamynd May Queen, a very appealing youngster with lots of personality & presence. Very good in neck, topline & tailset. Head coming on well for her age. Good mover for her age & scored there over

2 Berry’s Yoho Summer’s Dawn with Ashgate, Really good outline & proportions & must have a positive future. Good feet & enough bone for age. Was BPB & with more maturity might even have become BP;not quite the neck of the winner. Good head. Moved well behind but needs to tighten up a bit in front. Good coat. Tail could be better carried;

3 Cotton & Jones’ Woo Woo Schnapps.

PB (3,1)

1 Foster’s Thozow Edelweiss, good neck & correct outline with good level topline, I thought scored slightly in head over 2. Moved better behind than in front. Not quite the body of 2 but tail well set & carried;

2 Thomson’s Ashgate Birnie, OK in skull & good in bone. Plenty of body but needs a shade more neck & could move better in front. Good bone & correct rib.

JB (6,2)

1 Gillott & Carlin’s Lizandycris Maggie May, very pleasing in head & expression with correct stop & strength of jaw. Very good outline & moved very well. Held topline & shape well when going around the ring. Excellent coat of good texture. Had to withdraw later which was a pity;

2 Fryer’s Hopecharm Christmas Rose, another with good neck & pleasing head & expression. Didn’t have the coat of the winner or the positive outline on the move. Good rib & enough bone with good feet. Moved well behind & scored there over 3 & 4;

3 Bradbury’s Lizandycris Misschieves at Fourastay.

PGB (6,2)

1 Gale’s Bellevue Gossip Catcher, very pleasing in general outline & proportions. Good compact body & level back. Correct head, eye & expression with enough strength of jaw & correct small ears. Moved better in front than 2. Very pleasing in neck & topline. Good bone & enough bend of stifle behind;

2 Bacon’s Reifrandies Furzey at Cabon, good in coat for length & texture. Not quite the topline or outline of 1 when sent around the ring. Good skull & OK in feet. Good hindquarters & though not quite the front movement of 1, was better there than 3. Good tailset;

3 Woodward’s Fernsunrise Forget Me Not.

LB (5,1)

1 Burns’ Burneze Billie On Air, very good expression & head just right without being over presented there in any way. Correct in coat of good harsh texture. Good feet. Excellent neck flowing correctly into good level topline & just the right amount of compactness of body. Showed all the time & was very good in hindquarters. Has much type & quality & went on to win the CC & BOB;

2 Fox’s Hillsted Sweet Mystery, another which caught my eye going around. Rather smaller but not quite the soundness of 1 but better in front than 3 & 4. Good neck & another with good topline. Good tailset & held tail well going around. Good feet & good coat;

3 Davison’s Braxquin Forget Me Not.

OB (5,1)

1 Squire’s The Dashing Devil’s La Diva, a bitch with a very typical outline. Enough neck, good head, ears & eye making a pleasing expression. Good topline & not in any way long in back. Good rib & correct tailset. Good coat & moved better in front than 2. Good hindquarters which she used well & scored for compactness over 2. In the challenge for the CC it was a close run thing & I eventually decided that the winner scored slightly for showmanship. RCC;

2 Mealing’s Reifrandies Muirne, another pleasing bitch with a good head & expression with good small ears. OK in body proportions but moved better behind than in front;

3 Davison’s Lynnsto That’ll Do Nicely at Braxquin.

VB (2)

1 Roche’s Kintilly Justrite at Sanjoc, not a small bitch but quite a good deal older than 2 at 12 years of age. She has held her shape very well. Scored in front over 2. Not in the best of coats. Moved around the ring well & was good behind & went on to be BV;

2 Windram’s Dales Pride, smaller type which was very compact. Not quite the front movement of 1 but good in outline with a good tail & tailset. Good coat & well used hindquarters.
