WEST HIGHLAND WHITE LKA 14 Judge: Mrs D A Britten (Krisma) BEST OF BREED : 6524 WEST, Mr I & Mrs F & WEST Mr T Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest DO YOU WISH THAT THE KENNEL CLUB WOULD PUT IT'S OWN HOUSE IN ORDER? PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION ABOVE. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS USE AN ALTERNATIVE NAME. WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE LKA 15 West Highland White Terriers The last championship show of the year & one I always enjoy. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered. Overall I was very happy with many of the dogs entered. It is easy to lose optimism about the state of the breed when we have such fewer numbers than a few years ago. However I thought there was a trend to more typical West Highlands than a few years back & less tendency to exaggeration. There are definitely some better heads around & I was really happy to see a number of exhibits with large teeth, which is definitely a good step. MPD (2) 1 Noyce’s Armadales Son Of A Gun at Maxula, well grown puppy at almost 9 months, well off for bone & substance. Excellent head with broad skull & defined stop & strong muzzle. Large teeth. Good reach of neck, running into well laid shoulders. Level topline & well set tail. Strong hindquarters & moved well when he wasn’t trying to outwit his handler. Super coat with good texture. BP; 2 Molony’s Killynether Kingdom, another quality puppy, masculine with a lot of promise. Good head & expression, presented a good outline with well laid shoulder & short back & tail carried well. Not in the best coat at the moment, but that will come. Full of himself on the move & enjoying his day. PD (2,1a) 1 Jenning’s Comdale Johnny Junior, strong puppy with excellent harsh coat. Pleasing head, good sized teeth & good bite. Strong neck with good reach & level topline & well set tail. To be critical would like him slightly shorter cast, however he has strong hindquarters with good angulation & he moves very freely. JD (5,2) 1 West’s Tomlyndon Eager Ernest, a dog I hadn’t seen before & just fell for him on the day. He has excellent balance. Well proportioned head & broad skull & excellent bite, lovely run in of neck to shoulder, short coupled & tail set bang on the top. Well boned & moved very freely & with that attitude that screams look at me. He never stopped showing and just had it all on the day. CC, BOB I was very pleased to see him being placed G3; 2 Dale’s Hopecharm Ed Turner at Lynnsto, a quality dog I have seen in puppy classes & admired. He also has great attitude & a beautiful head & expression, excellent neck & shoulder & short back. As always from this exhibitor he was in sparkling condition & immaculately trimmed. However I felt his hindquarters were overly carved out that made him look a different dog in front than behind & accentuated his carrying his tail gaily on the move; 3 Bradbury’s Gelmoore Midwinter Magic. PGD (5,1) 1 Gillott and Carlin’s Lizandycris Line Me Up. Well balanced dog , very masculine without being coarse. Excellent head, straight front, strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Short back, well set tail and well off for bone. Sometimes drops his tail slightly on the move because he is strong willed and insists on going too fast. Typical of a young male and I am sure with a bit more maturity, he will go on to do very well; 2 Coles’ Reifrandies Esprit D’Amour, short backed dog, with pleasant head & expression. Well placed shoulders but trimming does not reflect this. Free on the move & enjoying himself; 3 Windram’s Leonardo Ventura. LD (8,1) 1 Strand’s Crinan Code Name Westlake, a very attractive dog that is so full of breed type. Correct size, well balanced, with great head, broad skull & strong muzzle & large teeth. Strong neck running into well laid shoulders & short back & tail bang on the top. Freestanding with no need to stack. Free moving but lacking enthusiasm on the day. I guessed he was saying that he has better places to exercise & he is probably right; 2 Gale’s Bocans Bolt to Bellevue, another dog with real quality. Excellent bone & substance & a great head & large teeth. Strong neck, short back & well set tail. Excellent hindquarters & a free mover. Very well presented. I preferred the type & size of 1 but he is a dog with a lot to offer; 3 Coley’s Kingsview Warwick. OD (8,1) 1 Hughes’ Brychdyn Diamond Geezer, a dog I liked very much when I judged him last time around. Super head with broad skull, strong muzzle & defined stop. Felt his head furnishings were a little over done today, & this is a dog that doesn’t need to hide anything. Well balanced with strong neck & good shoulder placement, excellent hindquarters, well muscled. Lost out in the final challenge because he insisted on pushing his neck & head down on the move spoiling his outline. I am sure that after a heart to heart with his owner, he will learn to please her, rather than the other way around. RCC; 2 Storey’s Nossimp Written In The Stars, a lot to like about this dog, very nice type with good make & shape. Beautifully presented. Good head & well laid shoulders, short coupled & well set tail. Felt he moved rather closely behind today; 3 Carmichael’s Can Windacre Ready to Rhumble. VD (5,2) 1 Millen’s Sarmac Starlite Express, pleasing dog to go over, with good head, neck & shoulder, level topline. Well angulated hindquarters. Responded well to his handler, coat could do with some attention; 2 McLoughlin’s Ley Hey Living Legend, another elderly gentleman showing well & with good construction; 3 Lynch’s Bobby Josef at Linacrelands. GC (1) 1 Fletcher King’s Kellbany White Wizard at Ley Hey, I understand this dog is now a gold citizen & I am not surprised. He gave a very good account of himself & behaved impeccably. Good head & short in back, carries himself very well on the move. MPB (7,2) 1 Griffiths’ Armadales Rosebud for Karamynd, confident young girl making the most of her lovely reach of neck & clean shoulders. Short coupled & tail set bang on top. Well angulated hindquarters & moved with purpose. Very promising. BPB; 2 Thomson’s Ashgate Hinnie, still a very raw baby in comparison to 1 but has all the essentials. Well constructed & with a super expression. Short backed & level topline, moved freely; 3 Molony’s Killynether Kentucky Woman. PB (4,1) 1 Minett’s Matheron Connex Again with Duskhunter, presented a very nice outline, straight front, feminine head. Moved fluidly; 2 Steemson’s Roxholm Reign Dance by Bocans, pleasing head & good shoulder placement, short back, tail well carried. Well grown on leg & not as feminine as 1; 3 Dale’s Lynnsto Bling In The Ring. JB (8,2) 1 Squire’s Dashing Devil’s La Diva, top quality youngster, such a great outline & balance. Piercing expression, short back, best of tails & set on. Moved with purpose & drive & with such good carriage. Considered her in the challenge but decided she was still too immature in body & feel her best is still to come; 2 Davison’s Braxquin Forget Me Not, well balanced, free moving bitch with clean shoulders & good reach of neck. Excellently presented; 3 MacBean’s Pryorvale Whisper. PGB (5,1) 1 Hands’ Crinan Calista, such a good bitch for type. Super head & expression with excellent bite. Well balanced & with good substance & bone. Confident & moved with drive; 2 Harper’s Westigo Cheeky Girl, pleasing head & good neck & shoulders, short coupled & very well set tail. Liked her carriage standing & on the move, she holds herself so well. Excellent presentation; 3 Bacon’s Reifrandies Furzey at Cabon. LB (10,4) A very nice class. 1 Jennings’s Comdale Charlie Girl, mature bitch of good type & construction. Broad skull & strong muzzle with excellent bite. Good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, level topline & well set tail. Excellent white coat. She moves with ease & has a long stride & I was happy to award her the CC; 2 Lancaster’s Clanestar Cloud Chaser, a classy, feminine bitch with a lovely head & expression, good reach of neck & well laid shoulders, level topline & plenty behind a well held tail. Moved well; 3 Owen’s Egremont Seventh Heaven. OB (4,2) 1 Edmondson’s Pepabby Pirouette, great outline on this bitch. Close decision in the challenge with the CC winner. Strong head & good bite. Well placed shoulders, slightly heavier than eventual winner. Tail carried extremely well with nice broad hindquarters. Free mover with good carriage. RCC; 2 Rose’s Jopeta Jorja On My Mind, pleasing head, clean shoulders, short back with level topline. Moved well. VB (3) 1 Gaydon’s Wistonant Royal Ruby at Gilbri, smart bitch in excellent coat & condition for her age. Good head & expression, short back, well angulated. Moved beautifully & was very sympathetically handled to bring out the best in her; 2 Andrews’ Kellethrigg Christmas Rose at Rupann, neat bitch with short back & well angulated hindquarters. Moved freely; 3 J Jorja On My Mind. GC (2,1) 1 K Christmas Rose at R. DOT BRITTEN |
