WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE LKA 11

West Highland White Terriers
On paper my entry was excellent but there were quite a lot absent. For the first time ever, I found more quality overall in the dogs than the bitches. Sadly, I must stress once more, that we are losing the Westie head, some are narrow throughout which of course makes eyes too close together giving the wrong expression, dish faced & narrow jaws with small teeth & a few iffy mouths. Backcombing cannot hide these faults. Some exhibits were out of condition & lacking muscle tone. Moving fast around the ring does not give good movement, the dog should move at his own speed & the handler keep up to him not the other way around. Nearly all were well presented & had good temperaments which is also very important.

MPD (3)

1 Molony’s Killynether Kolumbo, super head & bone, correct movement, excellent tailset, lovely outline on the move covered the ground with ease. Straight white coat & full of himself. Just needs time, should have a good future;

2 Windram’s Louie Conquistador, promising puppy showing well, moved around the ring with ease, just a baby needs time, mouth could be better.

PD (3)

1 Windram’s Leonardo Ventura, a baby needing a lot of time, good in shoulder giving him a good reach of neck, level topline, moved OK but did not like the show ring.

JD (5)

This was an excellent class, best of the day, all five were very close & could probably change places. I could have done with five first cards they were all a pleasure to handle.

1 Britten’s Walk The Line vom Deipenbrook to Krisma, best of heads which filled my hand as it should, with good wide mouth big teeth, correct expression darkest of eyes, nice ear set good reach of neck well placed shoulders running into level topline with good tailset, good bone, straight front & excellent stifle giving him the movement which catches the eye as he covers the ground with ease. He just put all in & said me, me, me. CC, BOB & G2;

2 Dale’s Something Special Superbia Lynnsto, he is something special, has all the qualities needed & his movement is a delight to see. Beautifully presented as always from this kennel. Put all in & pushed 1 hard, slightly longer caste than 1 & I preferred 1’s expression. Just needs more maturity;

3 Storey’s Nossimp Written In The Stars.

PGD (5)

1 Gillott & Carlin’s Lizandychris Devlin In Disgise, smart dog who has presence, liked his size, good head & dark eyes, enough reach of neck, level topline, well muscled stifle & correct hock, sound quarters, driving both back & front, very male, well presented;

2 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Arlo, have liked this dog from a puppy, lovely head & good shoulders, a lot of quality, excellent white straight coat, well constructed, strong bone & eyecatching when stacked, just a little longer cast than 1;

3 Pegg’s Ambalasi Frisky Whiskey.

LD (10)

1 Davison’s Antonia Apple Pie at Braxquin, this dog was a surprise to me, pleasing skull with good stop, good eye & earset, best of mouths & lovely expression, good reach of neck running into good shoulders, level topline short coupled, good bone, well muscled hindquarters, moved with drive both back & front & well presented with super white coat of correct texture, showed well for his handler, made a nice picture on the move;

2 West’s Tomlyndon Spoilt Rotten, smaller dog with good bone & plenty of presence, excels behind, when moving covers the ground with ease. Level topline & good tailset, full of himself. Preferred overall balance of 1;

3 Millen’s Sarmac Starlight Express.

OD (10)

1 Gordon’s Ch.Lamsmore Fitzwritin, first time I have handled this well known ch & what a pleasure it was, so good in all departments, everything has been said about him before, full of quality & as always presented to perfection, I just preferred the attitude of my CC winner. RCC;

2 Edmondson’s Ch Pepabby Prank, worthy ch who puts all in when in the ring, he & his handler gel so well together, like my CC winner his head is what a Westie head should be. Good skull & stop, good eye & ear set, filled well in below the eyes, strong jaw & teeth of correct size, held on the correct length of neck, level topline & excellent tailset. Nice outline both moving & stood, showing all the time;

3 Macbean’s Ch Bellevue Going Dutch with Pryorvale.

VD (0).

GCD (2)

1 Fletcher-King’s Kellbany White Wizard at LeyHey, good headed dog with good mouth, good bone & substance, showed well for his handler who had him well presented.

MPB (12)

1 Clement’s Roxholm Royal Flush, Just 6 months & such a baby if she matures well she should have a good future. I liked a lot about her, she has shoulders in the correct place enabling her to move correctly in front, held her tail on top & showed well for one so young, very feminine & my type;

2 Dale’s Lynnsto Eye Candy, 6 months puppy also & full of promise, excellent coat, good to go over on the table with pleasing feminine head, moved & showed well, not at balanced as 1. Will watch her progress;

3 Harper’s Westigo Sheeza Delight.

PB (7)

1 Jennings’ Comdale Starr, pretty feminine head with good stop & earset & darkest of eye. Good mouth & good shoulders, moved well & showed her socks off. Full of promise & should, with time, make the top drawer. BP;

2 Fox’s Comdale Miss January at Hillsted, this decision was very close, pushed her litter sister very hard for the top spot, lovely outline when stacked & on the move. Putting all in could change places;

3 Purchon’s Starstruck at Lindenka.

JB (7)

1 Carlin, Gillott & Dunne’s Lizandychris Ruby Tuesday to Charosmack, what a surprise & a delight to go over, from her lovely feminine correct head, running my hands down the correct length of neck & shoulders, correctly placed. Good bone, good upper arm, short coupled with good stifle & hock I only hoped she moved as she should with this construction & I was not disappointed. CC;

2 Hunt’s Kellethrigg Serenade Girl, very typical, with most pleasing head & feminine expression, not over trimmed moved with drive both front & back, held her outline on the move & I thought made the correct picture. Should mature well;

3 Cooper’s Brorastar Words Of Love.

PGB (7)

1 Griffiths’ Krisma Asking For Trouble at Karamynd, easy winner of this class, good to handle, nice pleasing head with wide mouth, darkest of eye, carried her tail well & moved with drive both back & front. Overall in very good condition, well balanced;

2 Davison’s Braxquin Beginning A Dream, has to be handled to be appreciated I found her very good in all departments, showed & moved well, could be better trimmed, too much coat giving the appearance of being overweight which she was not;

3 Pegg’s Bellevue Dream Spirit.

LB (10)

1 Gillott & Carlin’s Lizandychris Ain’t She Grand, yes she is, with good head & mouth, level topline & good angulation, straight front & nice feet, moving with drive & covered the ground with ease. Could carry her tail better to be critical. Very well presented & balanced, nice picture stacked;

2 Squire’s Kimgarwyn Bramble, liked this girl very much, found everything in the correct place, one of the quality ones, well presented with white straight coat, moved well & stacked looked a picture, felt she needed a few more months then would trouble the rest;

3 Hunt’s Kellethrigg Snowflake Lass.

OB (10)

1 Gaydon’s Ch Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri, what can I say that has not already been said about this outstanding bitch, she is always beautifully presented & always gives her best & loves the show ring. Holds the breed record for bitches, well done. I thought she was carrying a little too much weight which affected her movement giving her a rolling gait behind. RCC;

2 Lilley & Milling’s Lillmill Give Me Your Answer Do, bitch I have always admired. Good to handle very well contructed, correct coat & well presented, just did not put all in;

3 Jenning’s Ch Llovall Mama Said to Comdale.

VB (1)

1 Windram’s Cassara Princess, 7 years, full of herself & enjoying her day. Nice to go over & well handled. GCB (0).
