I was reminded of a day in the mid-1990s when we met a young lady who had a young puppy and we asked what is its name and she said this is 'Fluffy', we were amused at this but after a number of years of showing and massively improving the presentation of her dogs this 'young lady' has developed a kennels that is producing quality dogs. This young lady is Mrs Jennie Griffiths, an example that hard work, determination and selected breeding can bring results. VD (6,3) 1 Fox's Ch Hillsted Same again 9yrs old and still showing with youth and enthusiasm, good head with broad dome, erect ears and sparkling eyes, scissor bite, well lad shoulders, level back, short coupled and moved with drive. BV 2nd Storey's Ch Nossimp Written in the Stars, I remember giving him best puppy in breed and was glad to see that he went on to become a Ch, has much the qualities 1st but today I preferred the overall balance of the first. 3rd Goodwin-Nolan's Mac without a doubt. MPD (1,0) 1 Jasper's Clavelshay Wilberforce, good head and bite, shoulders OK, level back, good tail set, needs to settle on the move. PD (3,0) Burns' and Gordon's Burneze Party Prince, good head, broad between the well set ears, dark eye, scissor bite with good sized teeth, good lay back of shoulders, level back, short coupled, good tail set, moved well. BP. 2nd Jenkins', Crockett's etc Duncabury Hear the Boss via Havasu, good head, dark eyes, correct bite, shoulders well placed, level back, needs to settle on the move. 3rd Claridge's Bogarhazi Lucky Strike. JD (5,0) 1st Dale's Pheonix Superbia Lynnsto 1st & 2nd were both very well presented and had strong heads, good ear placement, dark eyes and scissor bite with large teeth, shoulders well placed, level back and short coupled. On the day I preferred the movement of 1st. 2nd Fosters' Thozow Master of the House. 3rd Monochou's Sushi's Furious Man Dolce Con Spirito Jch. BeJW. YEAR (5,1) 1st Flamang's Mechta Nataly tally-Ho Ger.JC. Good head, well placed ears, dark eye, scissor bite, good lay back of shoulder, level back, moved well. 2nd Tadhunter's Otto The Macerick Prince, much the same as 1st but not so good on the move today. 3rd Junghof's Perfect Boy from Superbia. PGD (5,1) 1st Bradbury's Fourstay Fontayne good sized head with correct ear placement , dark eye, scissor bite, good shoulder placement, level back, short coupled , moved well both ways. 2nd Smith's Lingbeck The One and Only, qualities as 1st but I preferred the overhaul balance of 1st. 3rd Biscoe & Biscoe's Jamabis Devon Boy Blue LD (4,1) 1st Eason's Andjoliam Silent Witness, well presented and constructed dog, broad dome with ears correctly spaced, dark eye, definite stop, large teeth giving scissor bite, well laid shoulders, level back, short coupled, tail well set on, moved with drive. DCC. 2nd Biscoe & Biscoe's Jamabis Devon Boy Blue, good head, well set ears, dark eye, scissor bite, sdhoulders well placed, level back, moved OK. 3rd Newcombe's Comdale For Your Eyes Only at Newrane. OD (12,1) 1st Berry’s Ch Karamynd Star Player with Ashgate, lovely presented dog, strong head with well placed ears, dark eye, scissor bite with good sized teeth, shoulders well laid back, level back, short coupled, moved well RDCC 2nd Carlin & Gillott’s Lizandycris Paco Rooban, again another dog well presented, and of quality matching the breed standard, today I just preferred the movement of 1st. 3rd Rimkiene’s Jolly Joker Sunshine Celebration. VB (6,3) 1st Maul’s Int/KFT/VDH/L/B/CH White Bandits’ Chilly Pepper, 8yrs old with good head, ears well placed, dark eye, level back, moved well. 2nd Ilczyk’s I’m Mad about You another 8yr old, again looking very well for its age and moved well. 3rd Crozier’s Carshairn Caol. MPB (3,0) 1st Coley’s Maxula Here Comes Summer at Kingsview, very confident little bitch, ears well placed, dark eye, scissor bite, well laid shoulders, level back short coupled and move well 2nd Szulycka’s Newvoldemort Prada , sound little puppy who shows promise but needs more handling and training, particularly on the table. 3rd Thacker’s Clavelshay Thomasina. PB (4,2) 1st Carlin & Gillott’s Lizandycris May I Play, good head with well placed ears, dark eye, scissor bite, good shoulder placement, level back, moved well, very promising puppy. 2nd Thacker’s Clavelshay Thomasina, still needs to mature and receive more training otherwise well constructed. JB (7,2) 1st Fox’s Hillsted Sweet Destiny, lovely head, ears well placed and dark eyes, good stop, scissor bite with good sized teeth, well laid shoulders, level back, short coupled, moved with drive and full of confidence 2nd Fosters’ Thozow I’d Do Anything, much the same can be said of this bitch as the first but on the move could have better head and tail carriage, 3rd Maul’s White Bandits’ Out of Control. YEAR (3,2) 1st Bouwhuis’ Ladyleigh As Time Goes By at Llovall, strong head with ears well placed and eyes dark, mouth good and shoulders well placed, level back, moved well. PGB (9,1) 1st Fox’s Hillsted Sweet Whispers, another quality bitch from this kennel, good sized head with ears well placed, dark eye, scissor bite with teeth of good size, well placed shoulders, level back, short coupled, moved with drive. 2nd Harper’s Westigo Flirty Gertie who was on good form today because she has similar qualities as the first but head carriage when on the move today was not at its best. 3rd Bradbury’s Fourstay Fedora. LB (11,4) 1st Storey’s Lizandycris Dior For Nissimp, just my type, well presented, lovely strong head, ears well placed, dark eye, good sized teeth giving true scissor bite, shoulders well laid back, level back, short coupled, moved with drive. RBCC 2nd Clavelshay Hurry Up Harriet, again a quality bitch. I preferred the compactness and movement of the first today. 3rd Harper’s Westigo Full of Cheek. OB (9,2) 1st Griffiths’ Ch Karamynd Guilded Lily, lovely bitch, very well presented and has matured well since I last judged her, has slightly dome head and well placed ears, dark eyes, distinct stop, large teeth forming scissor bite, good lay back of shoulder, level back and short coupled, tail well set on, moved with drive and carried tail well. BCC and BOB. 2nd Dale’s Lynnstro Evelyn All, this bitch too of high quality and excellently presented, strong head, good ear placement, dark eyes, good stop and scissor bite, well laid shoulders, level back, short coupled and moved with drive. 3rd Nisbeth’s Deerhaven Can Buy Love John Griffin Judge Go To Top Of Page

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIERS

It was a privilege to be asked to judge this breed at Crufts and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I was reminded of a day in the mid-1990s when we met a young lady who had a young puppy and we asked what is its name and she said this is 'Fluffy', we were amused at this but after a number of years of showing and massively improving the presentation of her dogs this 'young lady' has developed a kennels that is producing quality dogs. This young lady is Mrs Jennie Griffiths, an example that hard work, determination and selected breeding can bring results.

VD (6,3)

1 Fox's Ch Hillsted Same again 9yrs old and still showing with youth and enthusiasm, good head with broad dome, erect ears and sparkling eyes, scissor bite, well lad shoulders, level back, short coupled and moved with drive. BV

2nd Storey's Ch Nossimp Written in the Stars, I remember giving him best puppy in breed and was glad to see that he went on to become a Ch, has much the qualities 1st but today I preferred the overall balance of the first.

3rd Goodwin-Nolan's Mac without a doubt.

1 Jasper's Clavelshay Wilberforce, good head and bite, shoulders OK, level back, good tail set, needs to settle on the move.
PD (3,0) Burns' and Gordon's Burneze Party Prince, good head, broad between the well set ears, dark eye, scissor bite with good sized teeth, good lay back of shoulders, level back, short coupled, good tail set, moved well. BP.

2nd Biscoe & Biscoe's Jamabis Devon Boy Blue, good head, well set ears, dark eye, scissor bite, sdhoulders well placed, level back, moved OK.

3rd Newcombe's Comdale For Your Eyes Only at Newrane.

OD (12,1)

1st Berry’s Ch Karamynd Star Player with Ashgate, lovely presented dog, strong head with well placed ears, dark eye, scissor bite with good sized teeth, shoulders well laid back, level back, short coupled, moved well RDCC

2nd Carlin & Gillott’s Lizandycris Paco Rooban, again another dog well presented, and of quality matching the breed standard, today I just preferred the movement of 1st.
