WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE CRUFTS 14

West Highland White Terriers

What a wonderful entry, I was spoilt for choice & sad that many worthy Westies went cardless. The breed must be in a strong healthy position. Very few small teeth, many wide bites. Excellent temperament throughout & not the slightest hint of any health issues.

Thank you to my excellent stewards.

VD (9,2a)

1 Dale’s Ch/Ir/Dan/Int Ch Lynnsto Mastercard, a credit to breeder & owner, looking in excellent condition, great head & expression, balanced outline, true fore & aft, moved well;

2 Grubiauskiene & Klikna’s Int Ch My Number One Superbia, masculine head & expression, straight front, level topline, good tailset, moved soundly;

3 Walden’s Kilmersdon Stanley of Tatamount, pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck, firm topline, strong quarters, well angulated, covered the ground well.

PD (6)

Really quality class throughout so splitting hairs to separate.

1 Gale’s Bocans Bolt to Bellevue, masculine head with good bite, good reach of neck, straight front, firm topline with good tailset, strong quarters, covered ground well. BP;

2 Lilley & Milling’s Krisma Line Dancer at Lilmill, more mature, good head & expression, short back, good tailset, plenty of substance, good coat texture, great pigmentation. Not quite so free on the move as winner;

3 Dale’s Lynnsto Candyman, lacking the maturity of the first two, quality all through, good head & expression, good reach of neck, well balanced with plenty of substance, moved soundly.

JD (5,2)

1 Coley’s Kingsvie Warick, good head & expression, straight front, balanced outline, short back, tail well set, strong quarters, excellent harsh coat texture, moved soundly;

2 Bartley’s Davot Chief Whip Atelib, masculine head & expression, good reach of neck, well laid shoulder, firm topline, good depth of chest, shining white jacket, moved soundly;

3 Fisher’s Bobo Whiskey, pleasing head & expression, plenty of substance, good pigmentation, would like to see better jacket, losing the topline on the move.

YD (7)

1 Corri’s Inverglen Lowe’N’Behold, great head & expression, balanced reach of neck to short back, good tailset, strong quarters, moved soundly;

2 Deipenbrook’s Royal Gigolo vom Deipenbrook, pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck to short back, firm topline, good depth of body, true fore & aft, sound;

3 Van Der Veen’s The Dashing Devil’s Busybody, making up a trio of quality dogs. Masculine head, good bite, great reach of neck, firm topline, good tailset, well angulated behind, moved out with ease, needed a fit handler, would have liked a harder coat.

PGD (8,1)

1 Claridge’s Hamish Ivory at Sunniwhite, masculine head good reach of neck, firm topline, good depth of body, strong quarters, plenty of substance, moved with drive;

2 Strand’s Crinan Code Name Westlake, pleasing head & expression, straight front, short back, tail bang on top. Not quite the drive of winner on the move;

3 Roper’s Niroka Breaking Dawn in Jusbar, good head & expression, balanced all round with good tailset, hard white jacket, good pigmentation. I feel less weight carried could improve his attitude to movement.

LD (9,2)

1 Hughes’ Brychdyn Diamond Geezer, I have to admit one that I have admired from the ringside since he was a youngster & he did not disappoint. Great head & expression, good reach of neck, firm topline, straight front, good tailset, plenty of substance, moved well. RCC;

2 West’s Tomlyndon Power Of Love, pleasing head & expression, balanced compact body, straight front, strong quarters, amazing drive round the ring, good thing he has a fit handler;

3 Corri’s Inverglen Lord Of The Manor, masculine head & expression, balanced outline, true fore & aft, covered ground well but a little lazy with tail carriage today.

OD (18,2)

What an exciting class, I am afraid many lovely dogs went cardless.

1 Metcalfe’s Flassendale Fairlie, another dog I have admired since a youngster, he earned the RCC last time I judged & has gained even more character with maturity. Great head & expression, what a mouth! Big teeth & great pigmentation, great reach of neck, straight front, depth of body, firm topline, good tailset, strong quarters, really covered the ground. Dare I say, handler had trouble keeping up. CC & BOB, looked great in the group & went well;

2 Gordon’s Ch Lamsmore Fitzwritin, impeccably put down, not a hair out of place, no wonder he has been so successful over the years, well put together, good head & expression, compact body, straight front, strong quarters, moved soundly;

3 Fodill’s Gr Ch Karamynd Play The Ace, pleasing to see this dog in excellent condition having judged him in the US 18 months ago. He has improved with maturity, pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck, short back, strong quarters, tail on top, moved out well, hard white jacket. Jenny Griffiths should be proud how well he is representing her in the States.

GCD (2,1)

1 Fletcher-King’s Kellbany White Wizard at Leyhey, pleasing head & expression, compact body, true fore & aft, moved soundly. His performance of sit & recall was perfect.

2 Roche’s Kintilly Justrite at Sanjoc, pleasing head & expression, well laid shoulders, firm topline, good depth of body, strong quarters, plenty of substance, moved with drive;

3 Hyczewska’s Int Ch Secret Touch My Hairy Braveheart, feminine head & expression, good reach of neck, firm topline, tail on top, true fore & aft, moved soundly.

PB (7)

1 Coley’s Karamynd So What at Kingsview, mature lady with feminine head & expression, good reach of neck, straight front, firm topline, strong quarters, moved soundly;

2 Dale’s Lynnsto Candy Crush, full of quality, very pretty feminine head, short back, true fore & aft, moved soundly. Not the maturity of winner;

3 Harper’s Westigo Cheeky Girl, pleasing head & expression, straight front, short back, strong quarters, moved soundly.

JB (7)

1 Minett’s Matheron For’n Affair with Duskhunter, feminine head & expression, good reach of neck, firm topline, straight front, strong quarters, moved soundly;

2 Foster’s Thozow Forget Me Not, a very showy bitch with a pretty head & expression, short back, true fore & aft, at times lost her outline standing, no doubt in excitement of the moment, however earned her place on the move;

3 Dunne’s Leonhards Chasing Snow at Charosmack, pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck, short back, good tailset, moved soundly.

YB (10,2)

1 Gaydon’s Ch Gilbri Town Tease, very glamorous bitch, full of quality with plenty of substance, feminine head & expression, good reach of neck, straight front, level topline, tail on top, strong quarters, covered the ground with drive;

2 Jenkinson’s Highcross Charmer, pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck, firm topline, strong quarters, moved soundly, plenty of substance;

3 Fryer’s Hopecharm Flower Power, pretty head & expression, well put together, moving well. Lacking the finish of the two winners at the moment.

OB (14,3)

1 Gaydon’s Ch Bellevue Town Flirt at Gilbri, put down to perfection, lovely feminine head & expression, good reach of neck, short back, ample depth of brisket, well set tail, strong quarters, plenty of substance & full of quality, covered the ground with ease. CC;

2 Downing & Campbell’s Am Ch Camcrest Andsurely Jasmine, another very feminine quality bitch, pleasing head & expression, straight front, level topline, strong quarters, moved soundly but not quite the drive of winner;

3 Fox’s Ch Comdale Miss January at Hillstead, excellent head properties, good reach of neck, ample depth of brisket, level topline, good tailset, plenty of substance, moved soundly.
