STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE WINDSOR 09

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

My first opportunity to awards CCs. Although on the whole the exhibits were my type, I was presented with some extremely exaggerated specimens, likewise some underdone animals with too little bone, tight fronts & intoed (giving the impression that both front legs could fit into a Wellington boot). I do feel that we need to work our way back to a correct blend of bull & terrier not one or the other. Finally the movement of a lot of exhibits appeared laboured on the day, due to the hot weather perhaps?

MPD

1 Asker’s Dazmarnic Don’t Tell Um, brindle, good head for age, neatish ears, good dark eye, correct placement, distinct stop, good strength of muzzle & bite, adequate body properties for age, will improve with age;

2 Jones’ Maxta Loud And Proud, b/br/w, didn’t have the head of 1, nevertheless this animal was particularly sound, more mature body than 1, in excellent condition.

PD

1 Scarlett & Reid’s Ramblestaff Ebenezer Good, b/br, quality young puppy with a bit of style about him, fine head & expression, dark eye, good bite, clean lipped, good front & depth of brisket, level topline, backend muscular & of good shape, moved & handled well;

2 M Loud And Proud.

JD

1 Marachowska’s Kalhols Black Magic at Passernomen, b/br, quality young dog, grand head, right up my street, good eye placement, distinct stop, deep through skull, strong foreface, powerful underjaw, correct bite, good strong neck into well laid shoulders, strong well boned front displaying width & correct depth of brisket, good spring of rib, powerful hindquarters enabling him to move with drive & purpose (one out of a few), in quality condition. RCC;

2 Partlett’s Wardwellstaff Badgers Best, b/br/w, head of adequate style, neat ears, strong in foreface, correct bite, level topline, good ham muscle, moved & handled well.

YD

1 Pickett’s Valglo Singin’ The Blues, bl/w, don’t be deceived by his colour, needs to be gone over to appreciate his virtues, strong head, black nose & dark eyes, deep through skull, distinct stop, strong in foreface, strong underjaw, correct bite, good front, nice depth of brisket, black toenails, good spring of rib, short coupled, level topline, good quarters, good bend of stifle, moved well, handled excellently;

2 W Badgers Best.

PGD

1 Woollett’s Ashstock Red Miller, classy red, another you appreciate more when assessed, great head style, lovely dark pigmentation, dark eye, good depth of skull, strong in foreface, distinct stop, short strong neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of brisket, well boned legs, correct turn at pastern, good spring of rib, strong backend, in first class order;

2 Pickston’s Marmaduke My Lord, b/br/w, classy animal, possessing all the virtues of 1, just piped to post in two classes, keep going, the future’s bright.

LD

1 Lawrenson’s Crossguns Tom Jones, contrary to popular belief I had never set eyes on this dog until now. Grand top size dog in top condition, br/w, punishing head, round dark eyes, muscles on top of skull & neat ears, powerful underjaw, correct bite, strong neck, perfect front, smashing lay of muscle over shoulder, well boned front legs, correct turn of pastern to well padded neat feet, good depth of brisket, well sprung rib, plenty of engine room, close coupled, as hard as teak rearquarters, good bend of stifle, moved with drive & purpose, one of few that demonstrated true Stafford spirit, on his toes to the end on this hot summers day, it was my privilege to present this fabulous specimen with his first CC & BOB, credit to his owners;

2 M My Lord.

OD

1 Gilmore’s Britstaff By Jove over Dumbrition, sound red, nicely balanced head, correct proportions, nice dark pigmentation, strong neck, good front & depth of brisket, short backed, good backend, moved & handled well;

2 Hehir’s Jagstaff The Red Cibie, red, not quite the head style of 1, fantastic body properties, strong well boned front, good spring of rib, well tucked up, powerful hindquarters, moved like a train, tip-top condition. V 1 Williams’ Ch Eclypstaff Sheza Truble, b/br, very tidy veteran bitch, still in good order, still possessing all the attributes that made her a ch;

2 Funnell’s Knockon Minerva of Powerpack, b/br bitch, good qualities, slightly racier than 1 for my liking. In good condition.

MPB

1 Edwards’ Chapmeek Macy Gray at Mooreview, br/w, head starting to take shape, dark eye, good strength of foreface, well boned front, short coupled, strong quarters, moved & handled well;

2 Longley’s Emperorstaff Red Romance, r/pied, head of adequate proportions, good eye placement, enough stop, correct bite, good front, level topline, good backend, moved freely.

1 Wood’s Bultery Black Magic, b/br/w, already a punishing head for age, a points winning virtue, neat ears, dark eye, distinct stop, deep through skull, strong foreface, correct bite, short neck, good shoulder placement, straight front, ample spring of rib, level topline, in very good condition, handler worked extremely hard. BP;

2 Stones’ Ashbull Black Magic, b/br/w, similar in every respect to 1, just lost out to the head of 1. Handler worked extremely hard.

YB

1 Membury’s Mitzstaff Crazy Mazy, b/br/w, crazy by name & by nature, tidy balanced little bitch, made her handler work to the full;

2 Vine’s Advocates Slayer, b/br/w, very similar to 1, not quite so short coupled. Handled & moved OK.

PGB

1 Welsh’s Valglo Matilda for Staffwize, b/br/w, lovely head & expression, good dark eye, neat ears, distinct stop, strong muzzle, clean lipped, strong underjaw, good bite, short, strong neck, good front, correct depth of brisket, hard hindquarters, in A1 condition;

2 Funnell’s Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, b/br/w, all the virtues of 1, just not quite possessing the same balance in head. Nevertheless a lovely bitch, in fantastic condition, handled expertly

. LB

1 Jackson & Whitehouse’s Bourtie Wot A Steal, b/br/w, what a bitch, smashing head & expression, neat ears, correct eye placement, coal like eyes, distinct stop, powerful foreface, correct bite, strong neck, correct shoulder placement, good front, well boned, correct turn of pastern into good feet, good spring of rib, level topline, powerful hindquarters, good bend of stifle, correct tailset, coat in great condition, moved well, my type of bitch. I’m sure a title beckons;

2 Gent & Jackson’s Advocates Kween Of The Ring, b/br, cracking bitch, all the attributes of 1, just not quite as powerful. Could have done with four CCs.

OB

1 Blacker’s Ch Crossguns Memphis Belle, b/br, I have adored from the very first time I saw here, an animal with immense power & prowess, grand head, neat ears, beautiful skull muscles & cheek bumps, dark eye, distinct stop, correct depth of muzzle, strong underjaw, good bite, short powerful neck, similar in many respects to Mike Tyson, muscular shoulders, good straight well boned front, correct depth of brisket, correct turn of pastern, very tidy feet, well sprung rib offering plenty of heartroom, level topline, short coupled, hardest of hindquarters, good bend of stifle, tail well set, giving me just about enough to assess her movement, in my opinion a blue print to the breed, let us all remember we must demand these sound, strong bitches to produce our strong, sound, healthy puppies. CC;

2 Smart’s Arnhem Nice N Feisty, r/w, great head style, smashing pigmentation, good depth of skull, darkest of eye. Not quite as distinct in stop as 1. Strong foreface & underjaw, correct bite, short powerful neck, great front, good width of chest, correct depth of brisket, well boned front legs, correct turn at pastern, neatest of feet, beautiful spring of rib, level topline, well tucked up, powerful backend, moved with drive & purpose, in fantastic condition. So very close to 1, one of four bitches I would love to own. RCC.
