STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE WELSH KC 17

Well guys my last judging appointment in the UK, I had decided to call it a day about a year ago owing to 2 slipped discs and a right dodgy knee, I can never tell when my back is going to perform, and a sudden bout of sciatica at the wrong time makes me unmovable, this happens about twice a year and when it happens I'm stuck to the spot and have to be carried from the spot. So although I look forward to judging the breed that I love, I have had to do the sensible thing and hang up my dancing shoes. Now I'm taking a chance here by saying a few home truths about some of the poor entries this year including my own, where are the minor puppies and Puppies that we need for the future of our breed, and my entry was no different with the first three classes with only one entry in each class, with this being typical over the last couple of shows this means that in about a years time there won't be many juniors, yearlings or even graduate dogs or bitches and that beggars belief, now we have some clever younger and older guys and gals in our great breed that need to get together and come up with a plan to reverse what's been happening, before it is to late to do anything about it. Apart from the above I enjoyed my judging and thought that overall the bitches were better than the dogs except for a few exceptions, I have never judged on faults and did not at this show either, good points only were added to the critique, anyone who would like to question me about your critique feel free to ask, always ready to give good advice if needed. And now it comes to my by now well known statement at the end of all my judging stints. I know I did not please everybody, but I certainly know I pleased myself!

VD. (1)

1 Smart and Worthy, Fifa Blue. Blue with a touch of white on front, nice shaped strong head, neat correct set ears, and eye colour, good body shape, needed to tighten up in front, but he's 8 year old, moved okay, would have a liked him to have had a bit of competition. The handlers had to leave early so missed the Best Veteran in Breed award.

MPD (1)

1 Owen, Tagstane Tomahawk. Black with White flash, 7 months old, nice head for age, neat correct ears, nice dark eye, good bite, nice shape to body, too early to assess but ok at the moment, moved ok, once again no competition in this class to compare, another dissapointing class but this one deserved his prize.

PD (1)

1 Boulton and Hayton, Albermarbull Against All Odds. Nice White Dog, very strong head, looked the part, dark eye, neat ears, strong backend, level topline, good bend to stifle, plenty of bone, moved correctly, once again I say you need to look at the white ones more than once, we seem to miss there good points first time around, once again poor entry for this class, future looking gloomy if this continues.
