STAFFORDSHIRE BULL WELSH KENNEL CLUB 09 Judge: Mr T M Hehir STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE WELSH KC 09 Staffordshire Bull Terriers An excellent entry. I was very pleased with my final line-up of both dogs & bitches for the CC challenges. MPD (2) 1 Smith’s Kylorda Koda, 7 months, b/br, white on chest, very much a baby. Head good for age, bone good. A little tight in front. Topline good, movement good; 2 McDermot’s Badgerlee Ring Leader, 7 months, b/w front & feet, reasonable head. Not as strong as 1. Good straight front & bone. Topline not 100%, movement a bit slack. PD (9,2a) 1 Ridley & Tennick’s Jagsstaff The Fisherking, Standard size r/w front, typical expression, good head, distinct stop, dark round eye, strong foreface, round bone, short level topline, excellent coat condition, strong backend, movement good with plenty of drive. BP; 2 Scarlett & Reid’s Ramblestaff Ebenezer Good, b/br, Standard size. Not as strong as 1, nevertheless balanced dog. Good head, distinct stop, mouth good. A little tight in front. Topline good, standing & movement good; 3 Halifax’s Jackstaff Desert Storm. JD (12,2) 1 Robinson & Hedges’ Leger We Stand United at Ramblix, b/br, white chest, Standard size, good head, deep through skull, good stop, dark round eye, terrific expression, clean lips, straight front, topline OK, movement good, well balanced & handled to advantage; 2 Birbeck’s Janikasto Jumpin Jack Flash, r/w chest, stronger head than 1 but not as good expression, ears a little heavy. Good eye, dark muzzle, bone good, level topline & held on the move. Would like a little more height to bone ratio to give overall balance; 3 Sutcliff’s Pendlestaff Thonderbolt. YD (11,3) 1 Bouter’s Old Cross Guns Aibhlinn Diabhal, b/r, white chest, Standard size, terrific head, distinct stop, dark round eye, straight front, sufficient bone, good topline held on the move, good backend, good muscletone, movement good; 2 Pitas’ Angranian Saiorse Warrior, b/br, white chest & feet, a little stronger than 1 & more on the leg, good head, distinct stop. Not as strong in foreface. Straight front, good bone, topline good standing & moving, good muscletone; 3 Fletcher & Seedhoose’s Granitangel Zircon. ND (4,1) 1 Jones’ Maxsta Loud N Pround, Standard size b/br, reasonable head, dark round eye, clean front. Topline not the best on the move. In good condition, movement OK; 2 Powell’s Mcalon Son Of The Lord, slightly longer & taller than 1 & not the expression hence the placing; 3 Membury’s Mitzstaff No Mercy. GD (3) 1 M Loud N’ Proud; 2 C Son Of The Lord; 3 Robert’s & Stubbs Smylinataya Active Ambusher. PGD (9,3) 1 Dowse’s R Black Tie, top size, b/br, good head, good bone & front, topline OK, movement good when settled. Inclined to pace, handler has to work harder with him; 2 McTrusty’s Buddastaff Red Rogue, red, black mask, white chest, top size. Not quite the head of 1. Dark round eye, good front & bone, terrific topline & excellent coat condition, good muscletone. Movement a little close behind; 3 Mangean’s Action Doggy Dog Chester One. LD (24,3) 1 Fitzpatrick’s Cumhil Hellraiser, top size red, black mask, deep through skull, dark round eye, distinct stop, strong foreface giving very good expression, good front & bone, topline OK, good backend, well muscled up, good free movement with plenty of drive, stood out in this very strong class. RCC; 2 McGrath’s Jajca Phoenix From The Flame, red, similar type to 1 but slightly finer. In excellent condition, good head but not as strong as 1, good topline, standing & moving, good proportions all round. Movement good but just not as free as 1; 3 Peacock’s Dringshaw Stoner. OD (10,1) 1 Stanway’s Ch Waystaff Strikes Back, Standard size br/w, pied, terrific balance, everything in correct proportion, good head, deep through, distinct stop, dark round eye, short foreface, clean lip, straight front & good bone, short, level topline, movement good when settled. CC & BOB; 2 Atherton’s Buddastaff Midnbight Sun at Lancstaff, Standard size, r/w chest & feet, black mask. Not quite the classic head of 1 but still a very good head. Nice front, good bone, good topline held on the move, strong backend, movement good; 3 Creaney’s Ch Bourtie Red Prospect. MPB (4,2) 1 Fell’s Scratchline Tatanka, 8 months, b/br, white flash, Standard size, nice expression, dark round eye, good bite, clean straight front, sufficient bone, good topline standing & moving, movement good; 2 O’Connor’s Karliatul En Vogues Return for Chezatree, 8 months b/w pied, not the substance of 1 & not as strong in head, marking may be the problem. Good front & bone, topline good. Close moving behind. PB (11,1) 1 Longley’s Emperostaff Red Romance, r/w pied, good head shape, dark round eye, clean muzzle, nice expression. Ears a little untidy but head will develop into them. Good front & bone, neck & shoulders, level topline held in the move; 2 Scanlan & Frayne’s Tsarina Xenia, Standard b/br, tight front, beautiful head shape, dark round eye, good bone, topline & backend, movement OK. Would like to see a bit more alertness; 3 Carter’s Seastaff Polar Star. JB (13,3) 1 Norton’s Mintmaar Look Again for Tikkurlian, Standard size b/br, good head shape, good dark round eye & distinct stop, good front & bone, topline OK & movement good; 2 King’s Kylorda Kazashi, not quite the head of 1, not as strong in foreface or as square in front. Good bone, good topline, movement good; 3 Stone’s Ashbull Black Magic. YB (8,1) 1 Bouter’s Old Crossguns Dearbhall Diabhal, Standard size b/br, white flash, beautiful head shape, dark round eye, distinct stop, clean foreface, mouth good, straight front, round bone, level topline held on the move, good backend, movement good. Not happy with tail carriage. Well balanced bitch. RCC; 2 Parr’s Parbeau Virtuoso Good, same virtues apply here, good headed bitch, straight clean front, round bone, good topline & backend. Tail carried a bit to one side which spoils the overall picture. Two very similar animals; 3 Vanduk’s Old Crossguns Better Than Sex. NB (4,1) 1 Membury’s Mitzstaff Crazy Mazey, Standard size, dark round eye, reasonable head, bite & front good, topline OK standing. Movement a little erratic, makes her handler work hard; 2 Thomas’ Samtan She’s All That, to size, brindle, very strong head, dark round eye, straight front. To be ultra critical a bit too masculine; 3 Morris’ Amy/Staff Red Hot Caper. GB (2,1) 1 Arthur’s Yantha Somme Princess, Standard size brindle, good head, dark round eye, clean lips, straight front, level topline, movement good, in good condition, good quality coat. PGB (7) 1 Jenkin’s Celtic Rose at Cazomic, Standard size red, beautiful head, dark round eye, good stop, short clean foreface giving very good expression, adequate bone, good topline held on the move. A little tense, may need to relax a bit more; 2 Welsh’s Valgo Matilda for Staffwize, Standard size, good head, dark round eye, good round bone, topline OK. Movement a little close behind; 3 Membury’s Mitzstaff Touch Of Clazz. LB (16,2) 1 Martin’s Lisas Lucky Charm at Alvis, top size red, white front, good head shape & expression, neat ears, short strong foreface, clean lips, mouth good, good straight front, level topline held on the move, good backend, moved very freely. Just a little close behind. Presented & handled to perfection. CC; 2 Simpson’s Briganah Black Orchid, Standard size b/br, terrific head, beautiful expression, distinct stop, good eye, good front & bone, topline OK standing. Movement close behind; 3 Walker’s Tiptoe Red Lady at Janikastco. OB (16,2) 1 Blacker’s Ch Crossgun’s Memphis Belle, Standard size b/br, terrific head, dark eye, distinct stop, strong foreface, mouth good, good front & bone, topline OK. Not too happy with movement; 2 Robinson & Hedges’ Leger Photo Finish for Ramblix, b/br, not the strength of 1 or as punishing a head. Very balanced, good topline, movement OK; 3 Smart’s Arnhem Nice N Feisty. THOMAS M HEHIR
