STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 26

I would like to express my gratitude to the officers and committee of Three Counties for inviting me to judge their wonderful show, at the lovely showground in Malvern, Worcestershire. My thanks also to my ring stewards, Elaine and Tec Norton who I was greatly surprised to see on the day, knowing that they would look after me and the exhibitors and keep the ring running smoothly. My humble gratitude must be expressed to all exhibitors for taking my decisions in a truly sporting manner and for supporting and cheering each other on, it really does top the day off! I was overall really pleased with the dogs on the day, the numbers weren't great however. I had quality in abundance and in quite a few of the classes was really spoilt for choice, I had to work hard splitting hairs in some instances to get it right (for me). I'm sure most places could easily swap around on another day. Observations â€" I observed two bad mouths on the day with inverted canines, a few with misplaced teeth but other than that mouths were good. Stifles seem to be getting straighter so this is something to be mindful of when breeding. A few exhibits could've done with a bath and their teeth cleaned, but other than that I was really pleased with what was offered in front of me. MPD (3,1) 1. Gough's Jackstaff The Patriot. Red and white puppy who is standard in size. Head shows strength, neat well-placed ears, dark eyes and lip is ok. He is well-bodied for his age with ample width to his chest and a good spring of rib. He has enough bone and strength in his pasterns. Showing good rear angulations and a good topline standing. I found him very hard to assess his movement as he was just enjoying his day out whilst making his lady handler work very hard, however I saw enough to enable him to win his class. This lad would definitely benefit from some ring craft lessons! 2. Heron's Dilirystaff Bullseye. White dog with brown eye patch, his ears are correct and his eyes are dark, lip is ok. He is well off for bone and stands strong on decent feet, he displays a good front and ample rib at this stage, a level topline standing and decent rear quarters. He moved really well for his handler; I just preferred the cleaner muzzle of 1st. PD (2) 1. Davis' Sharmara Fidelius Charm. What a cracking puppy this is! He is a striking brindle and white dog with a typical head shape, clean lip, coal dark eyes and correct ear carriage all making for a stunning expression. He is so standard in size and at this age displays balance from any angle viewed. His front is straight, legs well-boned and lovely neat feet. His rib is correct and topline is level moving and standing, good rear angulations and correct onset of tail. He moved ok and made his handler work really hard today but he breezed his class with ease. I'm sure this lad will go all the way and trouble the best of them in time. Good luck! BPD & BPIB. 2. McCafferty's Wonderstaff This Boy. Bl/br lad with white toes, Top size lad with a good head, dark eyes, neat ears, lip ok, he has a keen expression. Width to front is ok at this stage and he displays ample bone with ok feet. He has enough rib and tapers to a firm loin; he held his topline well on the move albeit he seemed a bit skittish in this class. He was handled well but unfortunate to meet 1st of whom I preferred the size and balance. JD (6) 1. Kerry, Houwaart & Daly's Jacobeaus The Legacy. Now here's a game lad who enjoys being in the show ring! He's a standard sized balanced bl/br with nothing overdone in any department. His head is typical, clean, with dark eyes and neat well-placed small ears making a beautiful expression which is intensified by his desire to ‘meet' his class mates! He has decent width to his front, correct depth of brisket, enough bone, strong pasterns and lovely neat feet. He has plenty of rib and a firm loin. He displays a clean underline and a level topline when stood foursquare. Good bend of stifle is shown and correct tail carriage which he held well on the move. He was shown in great condition and handled very well. My absolute pleasure to award him the DRCC today which I'm sure will not be his last. I predict a very bright future for this youngster and will follow with interest. Good luck! 2. Seymour's Dekayro's Eye Of The Tiger. Standard size brindle lad with a clean head. Neat ears, dark eyes, clean lip, good length of muzzle, keen expression. Ample width at the front, shows strength in bone and neat feet. Rib is ok and topline level standing. Firm loin and decent rear quarters. Correct onset of tail and carried it well on the move. He moved well and was handled well and shown in lovely condition. Preferred the balance and gameness of 1st. 3. Gutierrez Gonzalez & Hirst's Dusklight Small Town Boy at Maskalon JW. YD (2,1) 1. Wells' Wellsstaffs Warrior JW.
