STAFFORDSHIRE BULL SOUTHERN COUNTIES 10 Judge(s) PENNY FUNNELL DCC IR CH LACKYLE DIABHAL DEARBHCHLO (MR J BYRNES) Staffordshire Bull Terriers My first time judging a ch show. I found the quality of exhibits to be generally high particularly in the higher classes which meant some good dogs going cardless. Some were carrying excess weight & lacked muscletone which reflected in my decisions. I also found a number with over large skulls & short muzzles which I consider spoils the typical Stafford expression. MPD (1) 1 Wall & Webb’s Manark Predator, b/br of 8 months showing lots of promise, strong well shaped head with a dark round eye & good ear carriage, short coupled with a good spring of rib, level topline. Movement was difficult to assess. PD (4) 1 Hyde’s Sedgbred Black Diamond, 9 months b/br who is developing well for age, nice shaped head, correct bite, well developed body with good muscle development for age, level topline, moved & handled well. BP; 2 M Predator; 3 Williams’ Gazannlou The Pretender at Bellajazz. JD (7,1a) 1 Folwell & Morris’ Rowelstaff Mr Ferguson, red of very good type, nice shaped head with neatest of ears & dark eye, straight front with strong legs, nice level topline held on the move, well muscled hindquarters, shown in super condition, moved really well; 2 Essex’s Javawolf Mighty Mouse, white with brindle marking to the head, well proportioned, shown in excellent condition, lovely body with correct angulation & good spring of rib, moved really well. Not as good in head as 1; 3 Jones’s Blazinstaff Light My Fire. YD (4,1) 1 Scarlett & Reid’s Ramblestaff Ebenezer Good, b/br standard size, strong head, straight front, good rib, moved & handled well; 2 O’Sullivan’s Bullhawk Code Black, another b/br who was shown in excellent condition. Slightly larger than 1 but had all the right attributes, strong head with nice cheek bumps, good stop, correct dentition, dark eye, deep brisket & level topline held on the move; 3 J Mighty Mouse. GD (3) 1 M Predator; 2 J Mighty Mouse; 3 Pickston’s Marmaduke My Lord. PGD (6,1) 1 Dewar’s Mintmar Just The Man, well balanced brindle, stood four square, lovely straight front with deep brisket, short coupled, level topline, strong head with well defined stop & neatest of ears. Close contender for RCC; 2 Membury’s Mitzstaff No Mercy, another nice b/br in good condition, lovely head with dark well placed eyes, good body & condition just slightly longer in back than 1; 3 Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Maverick McClean. LD (12,1) Really good class with all the first five worthy of top honours. 1 Beaufoy’s Wyrefare The Govenor, lovely red in good condition, perfectly balanced with no exaggerations, well shaped head, dark eyes & neat well placed ears give him a pleasing expression. Straight front with plenty of depth to brisket, well angulated powerful hindquarters helped him move with drive. Nice short gleaming coat. Well handled, showed all the time. RCC; 2 Marachowski’s Kalhols Black Magic at Passernomen, b/br heavier build than 1 but full of virtues, muscular well balanced body with good spring of rib, strong head with deep stop, correct dentition & nice expression, moved & showed really well; 3 Dewar’s Euphemia Drummer Boy. OD (10,2) 1 Ir Ch Lackyle Diabhal Dearbhchlo, b/br I have always admired, full of quality, strong well shaped skull with strong underjaw, tight lips, deep stop, correct eye & ear placement all give a typical expression, strong muscular neck leading to well placed shoulders, good spring of rib level topline, strong hindquarters with well defined muscles, nice tight feet, good movement in both directions, well handled. CC & BOB, should go on to gain his title; 2 Rogers’ Berrystock Devils Advocate, b/br that I judged as a puppy, liked him then & I am pleased with his development, nice head & expression, straight front deep brisket, level topline, nice dark pigmentation & good coat condition, moved & showed really well; 3 Rhodes & Foxhall’s Terracota Hells Angel. V (5,1) 1 Lay’s Ch Carnig Positive Profile, b/br that shows little sign of his age, still possesses an excellent head with correct bite, well set ears & a lovely expression, well balanced & still in good body condition, moved with drive; 2 Connelly’s Ch Waystaff Dutch Courage, strong pied dog & another that shows little sign of age, his body is in perfect balance & like 1, retains a level of fitness not seen in some of the younger exhibits; 3 Ashburner’s Stormpike Comfort And Joy. MPB (1) 1 Acutestaff Perfect Partner, brindle of 6 months who is still very much a baby, body is developing well, good topline, nice dark pigment. Head still needs to develop. PB (7,1) 1 Winwood & Tunnah’s Cursus Summer Storm, well balanced b/br with lots of promise, good head & expression, straight front, well ribbed with nicely angulated hindquarters, moved well; 2 Norman & Coates’ Sebsonic Seren Fach at Megastelle, b/br who has a lot to like, comments of 1 apply to her. Just lost out in body; 3 Ware’s Cursus Shaka Nandi. JB (13,2) 1 McGrath’s Jajca’s Sweet Dream, b/br of correct size who is well balanced throughout, nice head & expression with good stop, correct bite & dark eye, well ribbed short coupled body. Moved & handled well; 2 Pearce’s Bullhawk Divalicious, brindle with nothing overdone, well proportioned head with correct dentition, dark eye & correctly held ears, level topline, shown in excellent condition, slightly taller than 1; 3 Pritchard & Rhodes’ Scratchline Tatanka. YB (10,2) 1 Hopkins’ Trufflestaff Hasina Bahiti, b/br with white blaze, pleasing head shape, dark eye, correct bite, straight front with deep brisket, well proportioned body, well defined waist, good condition, moved well; 2 Raynsford’s Caribbean Coco at Raynstaff, b/br with white chest, nice shaped head, neat ears, strong neck with well laid shoulders, level topline. Just slightly longer in body & not quite as fit as 1; 3 Longley’s Emperorstaff Red Romance. GB (7,2) 1 T Hasina Bahiti; 2 C Summer Storm; 3 Membury’s Mitzstaff Crazy Mazey. PGB (7) 1 Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Jorja On My Mind, b/br with well shaped head, good bite, level topline, well sprung ribs, showed & moved well; 2 M Crazy Mazey, b/br with nice head & expression, good body shape, good condition. Slightly smaller than 1 & feet not as tight; 3 Keirl’s Oscellsies Misty Eve. LB (17,3) Could have done with more cards in this very strong competitive class. 1 Pearce’s Inkastaff Midnight Chaos at Bullhawk, b/br with white blaze, nice head shape, strong yet feminine with dark eye & neat well set ears, well bodied with good quarters & level topline, moved really well both ways, excellent condition; 2 Dewar’s Mintmar One For One, b/br very close decision & am sure these bitches will change places many times, a stronger bitch than 1 but not overdone, well shaped head with nice expression, straight front, level topline, moved & handled well; 3 McDonald & Foster’s Tusselstaff Black Fury. OB (6) Although a small class it was full of quality with any of the first four bitches worthy of top honours. 1 Hopkins’ Ch Trufflestaff Monifa Kanika, one I have always admired from ringside & was not disappointed, b/br who is full of quality, strong yet feminine head with a lovely expression, neat rose ears, well set dark eyes, strong underjaw, correct bite.
