STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE SOUTH WALES 12

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER

Thank you SWKA for inviting me to judge, I had been thoroughly looking forward to it for some time, especially since it had been 10 years I awarded CC's to dogs, also thanks to my able steward but most of all thanks to the exhibitors I appreciated your entry very much. Unfortunately, I did notice quite a wide variety of type, from some very 'Bully' animals, with ultra short forefaces to some very 'Terrier' animals, which were leaning towards looking more like Whippets, neither of which are correct as the breed requires a blend of both. There were a couple of converging bites and unfortunately toplines appeared roach in some animals, dippy in others. I think we as a breed need to address these problems, by more selective breeding. However, I am pleased to say my winners, especially my major winners, had none of the mentioned problems. I was also over the moon to later hear that both my BOB & BPIB were shortlisted in their respective Groups.

MPD(3)

1 Kendall's Bellarouge Blood Diamond. What a cutie pie, just six mths, my heart just went to mush when I saw him and I wasn't disappointed when I went over him either to find he lived up to his looks. Good rich red, with a powerful head for one so young, good ear carriage, good bite, wonderful expression. Nicely shaped body for such a baby, lovely front and rear. Moved well. I think he will have a good future and would love to see him in six mths when he will have grown a wee bit. BPD.

2 Mouneux & Hawke's Siamstaffs New Moon. Another baby who showed himself very well. Possessing a nice head shape, with well placed ears and lovely dark eyes. Body developing nicely, moved OK.

3 Sutcliffe's Barielle Air Marshall Of Pendlestaff.

PD(3, 1)

1 Chaine's Good One Cyril Des Terres D'Armour. Dark brindle quality dog. Lovely head, lovely ear carriage, keen expression, good bite. He is bodying up nicely, ribs need to spring and brisket needs to drop. Handler gets the best from him, as he shows like he's been at it for years. However, his movement needs to settle as he's still so young, but maturity should bring a promising future.

2 Thisby's Dogumenyary's Thunder. Promising youngster, with nice body, good head, good front and feet, good shoulder set. Nice angulations to the rear. Moved well for a baby. Presented a pleasing picture when stood.

1 Lewis' Charmonics Regal Lad. What an absolute star in the making. If this dog doesn't get his title then there is no justice whatsoever. To me, this beautifully marked brindle and white dog fits the standard accurately in every way. He has a wonderful head with excellent ears, dark round eyes, correct muzzle, excellent under-jaw, with pronounced cheek muscles and a wonderful attention seeking expression. Good spring of rib, lovely front and excellent shoulder placement, with nicely angulated rear. Topline is held on the move with driving rear action rear action. Handled to a very high standard. CC & BOB.

2 Monestina's Itcheboren Night Fury Dust Blaze. Another standard brindle dog. Nice head, good bite, good ears, dark round eyes. Lovely balanced body, with lovely front, stood four square. Moved and handled well.

3 Morgan &Jones' Mountarw The Prodigal Son.

YD(3)

1 Monestina's Englandian Cool Crusin. Black/brindle dog. Quite a show dog. Nice head piece, with lovely expression and correct bite. Good front, near rear. Ample bone. Bodying up nicely, quite athletic. Handler would be better off letting the dog free stand. Moved ok.

2 Dawe's Marstaff Smokin Joe. Nice dog, stood four square. Pleasing head shape, with correct bite, Good shoulder placement. Nice front and rear. Seemed to be carrying a little weight, but obviously this could be addressed.

3 Nicholson's Zoellies Northerb Star For Ballindona.

GD(3)

1 Robbins' Antroboss In The Red With Jakataffs. Top size red dog. Nice head, good expression, nice front and rear. Moved well, but was fidgety when standing. Needs more ring practice, to get the best from him.

Nice head of correct proportions, with correct bite. Ample enough bone. Good feet, nice rear. Moved quite well retaining level topline as he went. Stood square. Presented a pleasing picture who watched me all the time. Today he had to give way to a young dog in sharp form. RCC.

2 Osbourne's Welshstaff Credit Crunch. As with number one, another quality dog, who presents a pleasing picture all rounds. Good conformation throughout. Nice head, with good expression, followed off with dark eyes and neat well placed ears. Topline held on the move. Very good front and rear. Good spring of rib.

MPB(9)

1 Birbeck's Bellarouge Blythe Spirit. What a little sweetheart. Striking red girl of just 6 mths. The nicest of well proportioned heads, with an absolute punishing expression that demands you look at her, with tidy well placed ears, beautiful dark eyes, good bite. Her front quarters are well boned and her rear quarters are developing nicely. She shows herself very well and seemed quite at ease with her handler. To me she did not put a foot wrong in the BPB challenge as for the BPIB (I had to do a double take as my BPD & BPB stood side by side) she just pipped the dog on overall expression (absolutely says look at me) and I was overjoyed to read that they were brother and sister. Many congratulations to the very fortunate breeder.

2 Aure's Heart Full Of Soul Berserker. Nice wee bitch. Good head, with nice ears, eyes and good bite. Tidy front and body, but still very immature. Moved like a baby, a little erratic at times but was shown beautifully.

3 McDonald, Foster, Johnston & Brown's Revelry Soul Diva.

2 Aure's Heart Full Of Soul Berserker. Nice bitch. Good head shape, round dark eyes. Strong boned front, good feet and well placed shoulders. Nice body. Good bend of stifle. Moved ok. Just needing more confidence.

3 Thisby's Kilghara's Lady Guinevere.

JB(9, 1)

1 Murray & Fawkes' Flintsatff Helena. Very nice bitch. Lovely head and expression. Nice front with good bone. Ample spring of rib, short coupled. Good bend of stifle. Nicely balanced throughout. Moved and handled well.

2 Rollin's Seenworstaff Test Of Faith. Solid young red and white bitch. Nice head, with tidy ears, good bite. Nice front, tight feet, good shoulder placement. Presented well, but was a little erratic in movement when going but coming was better. Presented a pleasing balanced picture when stood.

2 McDermott's Macadermus Summer Lady. Nice bitch. Seemed a little nervous in the show ring today, but handler managed to get the best from her. Nice head, good bite, pronounced cheek bumps. Strong neck. Nice front. Ample boned front. Good rear. Moved ok.

3 Pearce's Eclystaff Take A Bow For Bullhawk.

1 Murray &Fawkes' Flintsatff Helena.

2 Byrne's Manark Miss Teeby. Nice bitch, shown in excellent condition. Tidy head, good bite and ears. Nice front. Bodying up nicely. Ample bone. Good topline when stood. Seemed a little nervous when moving and as a consequence sometimes lost her topline.

3 Knight's Redrichstaff Amazing Grace.

PGB (5)

1 Halifax's Seastaff Polar Storm. White bitch of the highest quality. Very typy bitch. Lovely head of correct proportions, with correct bite and clean lipped, good ear placement. Excellent front, leading to tidy feet. Wonderful rear. Movement is true, coming and going, holding topline throughout. Ample rib. Shame she met CC winner who was on form but with finished maturity her day will come. RCC.

2 Jones' Blazinstaff Dynamytee At Rougestaff. Another very nice bitch. Powerfully put together yet retaining femininity. Good head, well proportioned, nice expression, tidy ears. Nice front and feet. Good rear. Moved soundly. Stood square. Presented in hard condition.

3 Parker's Nettlestaff Nitty Gritty JW.

LB(7)

1 Smith's Rowelstaff Red Ember At Willowstaff JW. Nice red bitch who presents a pleasing picture when standing and on the move in the ring. She is very standard with a nice head, good bite, tidy ears. Nice body with nicely sprung rib, well boned front and good shoulder placement, well developed rear. Moved and shown to a high standard. Would like to see slightly darker nails.

2 Scanlon's Pantycelyn Glamorous. Lovely bitch, was unlucky to meet one. Name suits her. Lovely head with the darkest of eyes, neat ears and good clean lipped bite. Nice body shape, with good spring of rib. Good front and rear quarters. Moved well holding a level top-line, presented to a high order.

3 Rodgers' Waystaff Desert Orchid At Berrystock.

OB(6)

1 Frankland's Aldwych Tiger Lily. Strong, feminine head of correct proportions with keen expression. Lovely ear carriage, dark eyes, good clean bite with tight lips. She has a very clean outline. Super fit condition, lighter than I normally like but today she actually looked she appeared to have a little more covering, perhaps she had a few cream cakes or Yorkshire Puddings, as she seemed to have a little bit more of a covering to me on the day. Moved soundly and handled to an exceptionally high standard, today she lost out to a young dog who was in tip top form. CC & BOS.

2 Hirst & Bibby's Taraiel Ciara JW ShCh. Another quality bitch, who on any other day would have won this class, I'm sure her title can't be far away. She has a correctly proportioned head with lovely ears, eyes, good bite. Lovely front and feet. Her handler certainly gets the best from her at all times, whether moving or standing.

3 Johnston &Kelly's Gossip Girl At Northbull.

VB(1)

1 Hirst & Bibby's Taraiel Queen Galadriel. Oh my goodness when I saw she was standing alone, I couldn't resist giving this dear old lady of 10yrs+ a big kiss. How the veterans get to me. Still retaining a good head shape, with nice ears, bite (well what can I say - not quite what it should be any more), still retains a good body shape and moved well round the ring, thoroughly enjoying her day, thank you for entering her. I noticed overseas that in some countries, the veterans are clapped in time as they go round the ring, this makes them show off and I think this is a wonderful touch to show he veterans respect in such a way.
