Richmond 10 Judge

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL RICHMOND 10 Judge: Mrs Mary Coble (Surestaff) STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE RICHMOND 10 Staffordshire Bull Terriers Thoroughly enjoyed the day, albeit as the replacement judge for Ralph Britton who regrettably, at quite short notice, had to relinquish this appointment due to ill health. Unfortunately, have to agree with the general census of opinion at the moment, overall quality of bitches seems to be somewhat superior to that of the dogs. Saying that, I had no trouble in finding plenty of virtues in my winners. VD (1) A. MPD (3,1a) 1 Pearce’s Bullhawk Crack The Code, dark brindle of only 8 months & already quite a substantial pup, moderate head coming along OK, scissor bite, strong muzzle that appears a little long. Nice dark round eye set to look straight ahead. Free mover, although a bit loose in front. However, acceptable at this age; 2 Hirst’s Taraiel Dizzee Rascal, b/br with pleasing head & appealing expression, dark eye, neat ears. Body development satisfactory, but very unsettled on the move. Will no doubt improve with maturity. PD (4,2) 1 Leyland & Simpson’s Briganah Black Knight, very stylish Standard size b/br, strong well shaped head, broad muzzle, ample underjaw with developing cheek bumps, dark round eye, true in front, plenty of bone, tight feet, deep chest, generous rib & short in back, level topline held on the move, one to watch out for, should have a good future. BPD & BP; 2 Wall & Webb’s Manark Predator, good headed b/br youngster, but not quite the expression of 1. Well developed body, felt he just needs a little more spring of rib to balance. Handled expertly, however, preferred rear movement of 1. JD (6,1) 1 Lewis & Smart’s Blazinstaff Blazin Justice, r/w pied that stands out in a crowd, excels in head, deep through skull, neat well placed ears, dark round eye, correct mouth, straight front, good shoulder placement, nicely boned legs with padded feet, adequate rib, short back & ample bend of stifle, totally at ease with his handler & probably the best mover of the day, covering the ground with minimum of effort, with maturity should have no trouble in gaining his title. RCC; 2 Jones’ Blazinstaff Light My Fire, red, litter brother to 1 with many of the same comments applicable, true in front, short coupled, good head, correct mouth. Just favoured the head shape, expression & overall outline of 1; 3 Hyde’s Segbred Black Diamond. YD (5,1) 1 Jones’ Maxta Loud N’ Proud, b/br with white of Standard size, strong head with lovely expression, enhanced by neat small ears which he uses well, dark eye, straight front, good bone, tight padded feet, well ribbed & short in back. Neat whip tail, although at times he does tend to spoil the outline by carrying this a bit high. In fit & hard condition; 2 Samby & Frost’s Sunnystone Wizard Of Oz, top size, heavier built dog with good head, clean front, deep brisket, well developed body. Close decision, but would certainly improve chances by being in fitter condition; 3 Atherton & Kemp’s Javawolf Midnight Onion. PGD (8,3) 1 B Light My Fire; 2 Clarke’s Jucrocs Sandras Red Sizzler, r/w, very strong headed dog, clean bite, pleasing eye & ear placement, good front, neat feet & well bodied up, deep brisket & powerful hindquarters. Close decision, but didn’t move as purposeful as 1; 3 Miller’s Crashkon Puff Daddy of Skyland. LD (13,3) A good strong class to win. 1 Dowse’s Rotherstaff Black Tie, quality b/br that almost seems hell bent on spoiling his chances by playing his handler up when the time comes for his movement to be assessed. Lovely Bull & Terrier blend, strong defined head, distinct stop, correct bite with large teeth, broad muzzle, clean lip, dark round eye & thin neat ears which he uses well to enhance expression, good front & shoulder placement, ample rib, level topline with good tuck-up & strong hindquarters with well bent stifles, excellent fine coat & good pigmentation throughout, compact dog in tip-top condition & on second attempt I saw enough of his movement to confirm his soundness. CC; 2 Beaufoy’s Wyrefare The Govenor, have to say this r/f dog has never particularly impressed me from ringside, but on going over him here I was pleasantly surprised. He is a very balanced animal, well within Standard with good clean lines, nicely shaped head with distinct stop, strong foreface, good underjaw, scissor bite & neat small ears, straight front, ample bone, adequate rib & well muscled rearquarters. Only criticism is I would have liked tighter feet with better pigmentation. However, the whole package is a pleasing one; 3 Scarlett & Reid’s Ramblestaff Ebenezer Good. OD (11,6) 1 Johnson & Pushko’s Rus Ch Tillcarr Tillerman, top size b/br with white flash on chest, strong head, deep through skull, broad muzzle, dark eyes & neat rose ears, clean shoulders, deep brisket, well boned straight front & reasonable bend of stifle. Could do with a little weight off loin. Moved & handled OK; 2 Rogers’ Berrystock Devils Advocate, good headed b/br, pronounced cheek bumps, strong foreface, dark round eye giving nice alert expression, set off with rose ears, well muscled body, deep brisket, good tuck-up & well bent stifles, moved freely; 3 Ford’s Valglo Jeff’s Choice. VB (2) 1 Funnell’s Knockon Minerva Of Powerpack, b/br, 9 years & still on her toes & raring to go. Losing her head a bit now, but neat ears & correct mouth. Good front & nicely ribbed, in good condition for her age & enjoyed her day out & handled well; 2 Ashburner’s Stormpike Comfort And Joy, top sized b/br, bite still OK. Of finer build than 1, but with good rib & nicely tucked up. MPB (7,1) 1 Thomas & Davies’ Samtan Mystical Gem, very typy, substantial b/br with good head shape, eye dark enough, distinct stop, strong muzzle & correctly placed rose ears, straight front, well laid shoulders, fairly developed for age & worked well with her handler; 2 Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Rihanna, nice b/br, pleasing head, round dark eye, lovely expression, enhanced by neat rose ears when she lifted them. Good body, short back, ample bone & tight feet. Not quite 7 months & still very much a baby, but shows promise; 3 Stanway & McCulloch’s Waystaff Sea The Stars. PB (10,4) 1 Hunt’s Carnig Cheeky Rascal, good sized b/br with attractive head, strong blunt muzzle, scissor bite, dark round eye & tidy ear carriage, straight front & muscular neck leading into well placed shoulders, enough rib for age & strong hindquarters, enabling her to move purposefully, handled well. BPB; 2 Jones’ Staffwise Shakira at Kobellie, b/br of smaller build than 1. Strong feminine head with dark eye & very alert expression, good mouth, pleasing body shape, but would have liked a little more width to chest. Nicely developed rib & moved OK; 3 Smith’s Rowellstaff Red Ember at Willowstaff. JB (10,2) 1 Kemp’s Bekanbar Shining Star, Standard size bitch of good type, strong feminine head, round well placed eye & neat rose ears, muzzle to head ratio correct, well developed ribcage, short coupled & nice bend of stifle, a very showy girl, which gave her the edge to win this class; 2 Bowdery’s Zakstaff Miss O’Reilly of Southstar, b/br, well within Standard with excellent head & good expression, slightly finer boned than 1, but straight front. Good muscular body, level topline & neat tail. Close decision, but lacked lustre, but on another day could easily swap places; 3 Hyde’s Segbred Beacon Baroness. YB (8,1) 1 Stanway’s Waystaff Double Strike, very attractive r/w pied of good construction, stylish head, deep through, strength in muzzle, lovely expression, round dark eyes, small neat ears & good pigmentation, nicely bodied up, short back & strong backend, hocks well let down, well presented & movement good; 2 Yarham’s Sheza Sugarbabe at Engladian, b/br with plenty going for her, pleasing head shape, distinct stop, dark eye, correct bite, short in back, ample rib, level topline & good hindquarters. Carrying a little excess weight on loin; 3 Reid & Booth’s Ramblestaff Take On Me. PGB (13,5) 1 Turner’s Tidestaff Firecracker, really liked the tiger brindle colour of this well put together bitch, very clean lines, nothing overdone, so probably needs to be gone over to appreciate her quality, appealing head, strong muzzle & good mouth, tight lipped, true front, decent rib, deep brisket, level topline & good bend of stifle, works well with handler & moved OK; 2 Badenhorst’s Ramblestaff Fanny F’nakapan, Standard size b/br bitch of pleasing proportions, good head, round well placed eyes & keen expression, nicely developed body with good backend. Hard to handle at times; 3 Vine’s ADVOCATES SLAYER. LB (15,5) 1 Manito’s Rotherstaff Indian Ink, b/br in absolutely fabulous condition, fit as a flea, but not stripped out, I have always admired this bitch & on examination she certainly lived up to my expectations, lively & on her toes all the time, portraying strength for size, strong head, feminine expression, round piercing eyes as black as coal, correct bite, compact body, well placed shoulders, ample rib & nice tuck-up, finished off with strong rearquarters & good bend of stifle. Handler works hard to keep her exuberance under control. Shown to advantage & moved well. CC, hope her title is not far off, is litter sister to my DCC, so quite an achievement for the breeder; 2 Funnell’s Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, typy b/br of quality, Standard size with good body, in hard condition, ample bone, well sprung rib & powerful backend, good head, deep stop, well developed cheek bumps & round dark eyes, moved & handled expertly; 3 Welsh’s Valglo Matilda for Staffwize. OB (8,1) 1 Lowe’s Ramblix Revisionist at Khanspride, classy type of b/br, another one I like & have watched with interest, very balanced, lovely clean outline, good head shape, enough stop, tight lip, scissor bite & large teeth, agreeable body, well off for rib, reasonable tuck-up, level topline & correct tailset. In first class condition & moved effortlessly, but just lacked the sparkle of the CC winner in the final challenge. RCC; 2 Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Trinity, smart looking b/br/w bitch of good balance, lovely head & expression, strong muzzle, dark eyes, neat ears, good pigmentation, compact body with level topline, held on the move, moved & handled well; 3 Simpson’s Ch Brigannah Black Orchid. |
