STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE DOGS NATIOANL TERRIER 18

DOGS My thanks to that most prestigious terrier show in the dog world for inviting me to judge dogs, it was a great honour. I would also like to thank my very capable stewards, Garry and Alison Hinsley, for their expert help in running the classes. I suppose the type of Staffords I like is probably well known and I was certainly not disappointed in the quality of the exhibits. Plenty of bone and substance, very few faulty mouths and although it's a well worn cliché, a lot of the dogs in the later classes were worth tickets and some very decent dogs went away cardless. However, that is the nature of dog showing and I would encourage the exhibitors to keep trying. Their chance will definitely come.

MPD (10,1)

1 Blanche Calonge Stormfire Lebron James A very typy red dog with a good front, plenty rib for age and a level topline. Well defined head with good ear carriage and alert expression.

2 Harkin's Harkline Connor McGregor. Another very promising puppy. Very mature for age. Well off for bone and well balanced all round. Short coupled with correct head shape and muzzle. Nice dark eye and plenty underjaw with good bite.

3 Marachowska Passernomen Biancus Omen. 4 Rose Englandian Gran Torino. 5 Hensley's Tegumen London Pride.

PD (10,1)

1 Wilson Northstaff Notorious. A quality black brindle pup with all the right qualities. Strong, well set bend of stifle which let him move with ease. Not much to choose between 1st and 2nd but clinched the class on his typical movement.

2 Boote's Belnite Balor at Gelstaff. A short coupled, fit young dog who excelled in rib and chest. Typy head and good front, but let himself down with movement on the day.

3 Desmond Elitebull Challenger.

4 Thorley Lustbull The Don.

5 Cusick. Mad Eyes du Domaine de Poudlord.

JD (18,3)

1 Simpson Ballindona Standing Bear. I was very impressed by this brindle dog. Terrific head with good mouth and muzzle. Excelled in bone and substance but nothing exaggerated. Nice dark eye with good pigmentation all round. Correct tight ears, a vert typy Stafford.

2 Dixon's Maggem Sinner Boy. A very well set up red dog, full of type, he was the shortest coupled dog in the class. Nice tight feet, in perfect condition. Would like to see another inch or so on him but I think he will develop into a quality dog.

3 Garavaglia Firecross Amusing Sunrise.

4 Blanche Calonge Diamonds of Blanche Knockout.

5 Fernando The Knot Unites Make Yourself Unstoppable.

YD (10,1)

1 Axe Harley's Chance (J.W). I had to wait for this young dog to finish a stakes class but I am glad I did. He excelled in every department and was a serious contender for the top honours. Good head and front, adequate stop, level topline when on the move. Nice dark eyes and nails.

2 Cartes Over The Top of Spiritstaff. Nothing over the top about this young dog. A nice standard size with shapely head and body in fit hard condition.

3 Schack. On the Highway to Hell Great & Glory.

4 Shipp Hammystaff Hanky Panky with Idyliststaff

5 Brady Calazde Black Hawk War J.W.

ND (2,1)

1 Morrell Prospector des Terres d'Armor. Stood alone but seemed to be sound all round. Longer cast than I prefer but no serious glaring faults. Moved and shown well.

GD (2)

1 Boulton Ducklight Against All Odds. White, well balanced dog with good head and mouth. Strong underjaw, good front with nice spring of rib. Short in body and set of his colour with lovely dark eyes.

2 Andrevon Dimanstaff My Little Sheachou. A decent enough black brindle dog who with the right handler could do well. He had all the right attributes but I couldn't assess him properly because he wouldn't show himself on the day.

PGD (15,2)

1 Tacker's Druidhawk Jakdahat. This dog excels in bone and substance. He is probably too much for some judges and is borderline even for me but he excels in type and puts these whippety, so called Staffords to shame. Terrific head, great wide chest and strong rib but fit and hard as a Stafford should be.

2 Jackson, Wainwright & Spencer. Roughnecks Noble Quest. Another powerful looking dog. Red with good clean lines, a very typy dog with a lot of the attributes of 1st, set off with excellent pigmentation all round.

3 Cook Luthais Highland Fling

4 Farleys Homafar Last Chance.

5 Jordan Dazmarnic Know Wot I Mean.

LD (12)

1 Yorke's Braunstaff Feel the Noise. As I stated in my introduction, there were several in the next two classes (and some in previous) which were good enough for tickets. This dog is one of them. I have watched him from being in minor puppy and never thought he got his just desserts. A well balanced dog all round with no exagerrations at all. Shourt coupled, typical head, good mouth and underjaw. Straight front and strong back end. Was pleased to award RCC.

2 Van Wijk. Be Aware V/D Butuws Glorie. A similar dog to the first. Slightly heavier set but still a quality dog. The only thing that detracted from him was his slightly untidy ears but his other qualities excelled.

3 Marshallsay Fergustaff Jack Frost.

4 Edwards Tagstane Welsh Wonder.

5 Clarke Rowellstaff Ooh Aah Cantona.

OD (22,4)

1 Holme's Ch. Goldstaff Crack the Code. This dog caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. I have never heard or seen anything of him before but what a showman. He excelled in type and temperament with his quality head, level topline. Great bend of stifle, he moved like a dream with a typical Stafford swagger. I was more than pleased to award dog CC. and BOB (with my co-judge). I then saw him get Res BIS, no mean feat for a Stafford.

2nd Rileys Ch Molru Nothing Else Matters. Another dog I have admired before, full of type, no exaggerations. Great head, body and movement but I have seen him better than he was on the day.

3 McClelland C Rochlawlie Behold the Hour.

4 Miller Deldenas Black Shadow.

5 Mayren Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaff
