STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE DOGS MANCHESTER 19

DOGS: Many thanks to the Committee of the Manchester Society for inviting me to judge dog's at this great show. I truly enjoyed my day judging and always an honour to judge my own breed. Big thank you to my two ring stewards who did a super job ensuring my ring ran professionally and smoothly. Always my biggest thank you goes to the exhibitors who gave me the pleasure to judge their dogs and accepting my decisions in a sporting and mannerly way, minus one. I think the quality of bitches have been leading the way the last few years, but to my delight I feel the dogs have caught right back up with some really top quality dogs. I came away that day smiling, knowing the future of Stafford's are going in the right direction. On the downside, the one thing I feel is still there since I wrote my last critique is gay tails. For me it spoils the Stafford, takes the whole look away, some folks can make allowance for it but its one of my pet hates. I also came across at least three dogs with incorrect bites, to my surprise these dogs are consistent place getters. I was delighted to see my CC Dog go Best of Breed along with my Best Puppy taking BPIS in agreement with my co-judge Mrs Janet Higgins who was a pleasure to judge along side with. I would like to wish you all the very best of luck for 2019.

1 Scanlan's striking young pied dog, one I really liked as he walked into the class. He was a handful for his handler and made both our jobs on the day hard, I did learn afterwards it was his first show if he had shown himself better could have changed the decision of Best Puppy. Another smart head of balanced shape and proportions, good cheek bumps, great round dark eye, good bite, nice length of muzzle, excellent pigmentation, good rose ear, good body shape with a nice spring of rib, level topline, overall very balanced dog with a good future with some more experience in the ring. One I will watch with interest.
