STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE DARLINGTON 13

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

This was a pleasant judging appointment I had been looking forward to. The quality of the dogs far exceeded all my expectations, & it was a truly wonderful day. The overall type, size & balance were excellent, highlighting that the difficult balance of strength & agility can be achieved without sacrificing the head & expression. Without exception, all dogs had super temperaments & were perfectly presented in excellent muscle condition.

I know it may sound as a cliché but it indeed was the case on this day: there were far more dogs worth a placing in a class as well as CC than was possible. This is unfortunately not the case in many breeds at the moment. Thank you for the lovely entry. Thank you also for accepting my decisions, there was a pleasant atmosphere on the ring side.

VD (1)

1 Davies’ Ch/Int Ch Stormbull Solo, magnificent dog, excellent head with broad skull & strong muzzle. Good eyes & expression, excellent front, good rear, tailset & carriage, sound mover, excellent condition. Considered this 9 years stallion dog for top honours.

MPD (3)

1 Sutcliffe’s Pendlestaff Firestorm, red of excellent type, good bone, excellent head shape, good mouth & underjaw, excellent expression, good front, very well developed, compact body;

2 Clough’s Pendlestaff Thunderstruck, slightly less matured dog with longer shape. Ribcage needs more time. Correct skull, good front, good bone, sound;

3 Richardson’s Enzo Aguello.

PD (4)

1 Fulford’s Elitebulls Heartbreaker for Regalbull, excellent type, good substance, excellent head, eyes & expression, correct mouth, excellent underjaw, good body, strong bone, excellent mover, acceptable tail carriage. Excellent future ahead. BP;

2 Lamb & Mayo’s Staffwize Musketeer, slightly heavier in skull than 1. Muzzle needs more time to balance with the skull. Good mouth, excellent bone, good front, very good mover, correct tail;

3 Southworth’s Albermarbull Gambler for Staffmaster.

JD (6)

The top two of this good class stood out, & should have a brilliant future.

1 Gabel’s Dark Solo of Spirit-staffs, very balanced, sound & agile dog, my notes say ‘good overall’, correct head & mouth, good expression, excellent bone, good ribcage, good mover, correct tail carriage;

2 Payton’s Tonpay Barmy Army, stronger head with excellent expression, strong body, steady mover; Ryan’s Rubericla Black Starscream.

YD (7)

1 Monestina’s Itcheboren Celtic Obsession, red, very masculine, strong dog with beautiful expression, good mouth, good front, strong bone, strong hindquarters, excellent tailset & carriage, good mover;

2 Beeby & Watson’s Geordiestaff Dynamo Dexter, classic type & correct size, excellent head, most gorgeous eyes, good mouth. A bit too proud of his tail;

3 Heron’s Dilirystaff Rough Diamond.

GD (3)

1 Brooksby & Pycroft’s Valglo Notorious at Sarianterra, pleasing shape, size & bone, balanced head. Ribcage needs to develop more. Correct tailset & carriage, moved very well;

2 Donkin’s Crossguns Conviction, excellent expression, strong head, very athletic. Could move a bit stronger behind;

3 Macdonald’s Magical Apache.

PGD (11)

This class was full of quality dogs full of type, but surprisingly many had a rather high tail carriage, please take note.

1 Monestina’s Itcheboren Night Fury Dustblaze, won this class on his overall type & excellent shape, substance & bone. Correct head, excellent eyes, excellent hindquarters, correct tailset & carriage, good mover, full of life;

2 V Notorious at S;

3 Butler’s Torostaff Our Billy at Joemikeste.

LD (14)

Absolutely wonderful class!

1 Kimber’s Kimstaff’s Harry Potter, excellent expression, excellent bone & depth of body, strong hindquarters, steady mover, very pleasing;

2 Speed’s Speediestaff Black Velvet, similar excellent shape as 1, excellent eyes but muzzle needs to develop still a bit. Very strong bone, good mover, correct tail;

3 Bruton’s Zakstaff Black Baron.

OD (17)

The top two in this strong class were the ‘great ones’, not much to differentiate between them.

1 Plant’s Ch Kyraloebis Italian Gigolo, excelled in expression & head details, great athletic body, very compact, excellent size, good bone, correct tailset & carriage, sound & steady mover. CC & BOB;

2 Gabel’s Alchemist of Spirit-staffs, top dog with same outstanding attributes of balance & shape, excellent mover. Preferred the expression of 1. RCC;

3 Bruton’s Zakstaff Dark Knight.

VB (4)

1 Hirst’s Bibby Ch Taraiel Trinity, 8 years, excellent condition, excellent size, very feminine, correct head, good expression, good bone, good front, excellent hindquarters, steady mover. BV;

2 Fletcher & Seedhouse’s Rockstaff Kaos at Granitangel, 11 years, still going strong, feminine head, good bone, slightly longer cast, good mover, very happy;

3 Fletcher & Seedhouse’s Granitangel Solar Flare.

MPB (4)

1 Hopkins’ Trufflestaff Masud Humaini, very sound puppy with good bone, promising head, correct mouth, excellent hindquarters, good mover, very confident;

2 Macdonald’s Tagstane Who Says, slightly heavier head with a stronger skull, good eyes, quite short in body, good bone, well muscled;

3 Partlett’s Starolestaff Fiftee Shades.

PB (9)

Very good class with lots of promise for the future.

1 Qualtrough’s Elitebull Romance, well matured, excellent size, excellent skull, beautiful eyes, good front & neck, excellent bone, easy mover;

2 Woolley’s Bethaleese Call Me Darla, most pleasing type, promising head, good ribcage, strong bone;

3 Hart’s Albermabull Ice Diamond.

JB (10)

1 McVay, Moffat & McBurnie’s Kargonstaffs Konichiwa, excellent size, very compact, well muscled, good expression & skull, good front, sound mover;

2 Asker’s Dazmarnic Kiss N Tell, red bitch, more immature & puppy like, excellent expression, best of heads, excellent bone;

3 Rollin’s Seenworstaff Tea For Two.

YB (11)

1 Houwaart’s Jecanibo’s Aayla Secura, excellent type & size, very well muscled, good body, balanced mover. Slightly heavy in head, underjaw needs to grow a bit wider;

2 Jackson’s Aus Ch Strongstorm Style Is Eternal at Jackabyte, excellent shape, good front. Rather strong head, would prefer smaller ears. Excellent hindquarters, tail carriage needs attention;

3 Bell, Murray & Walker’s Cannichbull Sweet Surender.

GB (3)

1 K Konichiwa;

2 S Tea For Two, excellent type, strong head, beautiful eyes, very sound.

PGB (8)

1 Ritchie’s Blazinstaff Refection at Northsaltire, red, slightly longer shape, strong bone, good front, excellent eyes, good skull & mouth, pleasing type. A bit lazy mover;

2 McDermott’s & Macadermus Summer Lady, muscular, compact dog with rather strong head, could be a touch more feminine. Good bone, sound mover;

3 Gold’s Ashbull Ofee.

LB (10)

1 Martin’s Alvis Northern Lights, athletic, honest, very balanced. Correct skull & good expression, strong bone, good front, excellent hind quarters, correct tailset, good mover. Considered her for top honours;

2 McClelland’s Tagstane Shining Star, sound, feminine bitch with good bone, correct front, strong hindquarters. Good expression;

3 Moody’s Woodystaff Lady Luck.

OB (11)

Superior class full of type. Any of the five I placed could easily win this class another day, not to mention those that went cardless who would deserve recognition. This is an excellent situation for the breed.

1 Gabel All In One Of Spirit-staffs, excellent size & shape, never stood wrong, full balance & condition, good body, excellent eyes, balanced head, excellent mover with correct tail carriage. CC;

2 Hirst’s & Bibby’s Ch Taraiel Ciara, excellent type, size, shape, expression & head, very sound with strong bone, very close decision but preferred the movement of 1. RCC;

3 Nicholson’s Ballindona Bombshell.
