STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 22

Well, that was a hot one but we all managed to get through it! Too all the people who decided it was too hot well I don’t blame you at all and can fully empathise with your decision. It was very very hot, but Bournemouth CS had put on excellent facilities and with owners using cool coats, fans on crates on the benches which were under shaded, with open sided marquees and common sense. We all got through it. My Steward’s Elaine MacDonald and Gillian Trevett did very well organising everything that needed to be organised and encouraging me with the time. What a fantastic entry you gave me, thank you so much for that. There was quality throughout all the classes. I was very pleased with my main winners and the depth of quality went down through the cards and sometimes beyond. There were 49 absentees, I understood, I just wanted to thank so many of you for getting in touch prior the show and letting me know you were not coming because of the heat, I would also like to say good job, everyone who came, by keeping your dog’s cool and safe in the heat.

1 Lowe & Kaur-Hayre’s Big Man On Mac Dui - 8 month old red fawn with black mask, this is a very nice puppy indeed, very good head, expression and good width and depth to skull. A very good class.

1 Hands & Wyatt’s Skyestaff Winter Soldier JW Black Brindle, liked this boy as a puppy but not really seen him lately, I didn’t realise it was him, he has really grown up and matured into a handsome boy. I loved his head and expression which was framed by the neatest of ears, dark, round well-placed eyes which followed me around the ring. Correct bite. He is a balanced dog of real quality with a good front and ample bone. He has a very pleasing side view with level topline, good depth to brisket and short coupled body. He has a well sprung rib and well-muscled rear quarters, he was in gleaming condition with good muscle definition, short tight coat, moved and handled very well.

2 Clark & Ortizo’s Powerpack Lachlan Dorin JW. Black brindle with white chest. I love this dog and his second in this class was not because I didn’t like him when I went over him! He’s a very typy classy dog with all the qualities of the first, I just preferred the overall balance of the first and that was just splitting hairs. I hope both these dogs will go on to get their just desserts, moved and handled very well.

3 Jefferson’s Alport Bold Ruler.

MLD (5,3)

1 Funnell’s Powerpack Tam O’Shanter JW. Dark brindle with a lovely head and expression, neat ears and good depth and width to skull, well placed dark round eyes and correct bite. LD (10)

1 Waltham’s Dringshaw Athos JW. Red and white pied, one of my favourite dogs at the moment, when I judged this class, he was going to be my CC winner and he would be hard to beat. He has the most beautiful head and expression, in fact an expression to die for!!! The neatest of ears, dark round eye placed wide apart, the darkest of pigmentation, correct bite with large white teeth, good width to his muzzle and depth to his under jaw. He just says power and strength, good strong neck and correct shoulders, straight front with ample bone. Neat feet. Good depth to brisket. Level topline and that lovely wedge-shaped body that I love. He is top sized but balanced with it. He has a good spring to rib, and well-defined muscle. Correct tail set. His handler gets the best out of him as he can be quite naughty, In the final line-up, he was almost there but I looked at him and compared him to the open dog and saw an beautiful unfinished gangly teenager needing a bit more maturity. I wish I could have given him his third ticket and made him up but I’m there to judge the dogs in front of me and I must give my honest opinion on the dogs in front of me and that’s it. Moved really well – This is just my opinion and a week later he was made up and I cheered for him as loudly as everyone else!

2 Plumstead’s Callastaff Son of the Moon. Black Brindle another quality dog, I love this dog too and was conflicted in this class. 1 Desmond’s Ch Elitebulls Challenger JW. WOW, what a stunning dog! Black brindle dog, I would say at the peak of his show career, brought under me in tip top condition, with good muscle definition and gleaming coat. He has a fabulous expression with neat small thin ears carried correctly. He has a dog depth and width to his skull and muzzle. Dark round well placed eyes, he is clean in his face with no wrinkle or heaviness. He has a correct bite with big white teeth. Short neck leading to well laid shoulders and a straight front. He has a good depth to brisket and well sprung ribs. He is short coupled with level topline. He has a correct tail setting and powerful rear quarters with good musculation and well let down on hocks with good bend to stifle. You can see he’s just on the edge of naughtiness with his owner who just about controls him, but he has plenty of spark about him. He is a stunning dog and well deserves every CC he has. Moved well.
