STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BORDER UNION 14

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Firstly I would like to thank Border Union Agricultural Society for inviting me to judge my first Ch appointment. I would also like to thank my steward for his efficient organisation. I was in general very impressed with the quality of exhibits & their condition & whilst a bit of a cliché there were some very tight decisions with some sound exhibits unfortunately going home cardless. I thank everyone who made the trip that far north & for the sporting acceptance of my decisions.

MPD (4,2a)

1 Gabel Hopkins’ Golden Boy Trufflestaff, nicely balanced 8 months b/br, neat head shape with good muzzle definition, clean lipped, mouth correct, dark eye. Pleasing overall outline with good bend of stifle. Short coupled. Moved well;

2 Sinclair & Collins’ Ruadonis Young Pretender, attractive 7 months r/w. Good head shape, neat ears, dark eye. Nice expression. Clean straight front with well laid shoulder. Level topline. Sound backend. Nice balance of bone. Needs to settle in the ring as movement was rather erratic. Promising youngster.

Broad deep skull, deep stop, good cheek bumps, very neat thin ears, well set eye placement with dark eye, strong muzzle, correct bite, all giving a very typical expression. Straight front, plenty of brisket with enough rib & good level topline. He is compact but with well muscled quarters giving plenty of power on the rearend. He moved parallel with plenty of drive. 1 Glassbrook & Rhodes’ Captain Ron, 7 years typy b/br. Very nice head shape, neat ears, good mouth, good body shape, compact, moved well. In lovely condition. Doesn’t look his age.

MPB (4,1)

A trio of very nice litter sisters whose placings will I’m sure change around going forward. However on the day my winner showed her socks off.

1 Elrick’s Ruadonis Delilah’s Delight, this r/w pied puppy is certainly a delight to go over. 7 months, chunky, lovely head & cheeky expression, dark eye & pigment, neat ears, correct bite, well angulated front & rear, good topline, short coupled, moved well, ample bone. Strong in all departments. What a lovely puppy, one I would definitely take home! I shall watch her future with interest. BP;

2 Elrick’s Ruadonis Dust Bowl Dance, r/w, slightly larger than litter sister. Another nice puppy. Skull deep & broad, strong muzzle, correct bite. Good straight front with some width, level topline. Moved well. Nice type;

3 Kean’s Ruadonis Lover Of The Light.

PB (4)

1 R Delilah’s Delight;

2 McCallum’s Skitazbell Bella’s Pride at Ashstaff, well made 10 months fawn. Good forequarters & rearend, moved with plenty of drive. Good topline. Head is coming on but needs to develop yet; 3 Jackson’s Jefmor Straight As A Die.

JB (10,3)

1 Johnston & Brown’s Revelry Custom Made, eyecatching b/br teaming with quality. Top sized. Lovely neat head & expression, dark eye, neat ears, correct bite. A very good quality class.

Clean front, level topline, excellent rearend. Moved best in class with plenty of drive on the rear. Very well presented, keen & alert. RCC;

2 McPhail’s Scorguie Stolen Kisses, another quality b/br/w bitch. Lovely head, well placed dark round eye, tidy ears, lovely expression. More bone than 1. Well put together, nice substance, good type. On the day felt that 1 had the edge on movement & ring presence but feel these two bitches are likely to change places many times;

3 Asker’s Dazmarnic Kiss N Tell.

OB (7)

Some quality bitches in this class.

1 Johnston’s Challenger Incantation for Tillcarr, striking standard b/br/w. Teaming with quality & looked really well on the day. Lovely head & expression, well placed round dark eye, the neatest of ears, correct bite. Clean front with good width, nicely laid shoulder, good rib & nice depth of brisket, level topline & strong rearend. She moved straight & with purpose. A very neat well balanced bitch. I was pleased to award her the CC;

2 Hopkins’ Ch Trufflestaff Monifa Kanika, another gorgeous b/br I have admired for many years. Many of the above comments apply to this bitch & she is in good fettle. Felt 1 had the edge on the day but a quality bitch who has nothing to prove;

3 Hirst & Bibby’s Ch Taraiel Ciara.

VB (4)

1 Simpson’s Ch Briganah Black Orchid, what a pleasure to go over this Ch bitch who I always liked the look of from outside the ring in her earlier days. Now 8 years, lovely head & expression, deep short clean muzzle, lovely eye & eye set. Very good general body shape & moved well. BV;

2 Hirst & Bibby’s Ch Taraiel Trinity, another very nice 8 years Ch bitch I have judged in her earlier days. Nice, compact neat type with clean lines, soundly constructed & moved well;

3 Fletcher & Seedhouse’s Rockstaff Kaos at Granitangel.
