STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BITCHES 17

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

BITCHES – I would like to thank all of you who brought out their dogs & accepted my placings with good grace. I’d also like to thank my two lady stewards who kept me in order throughout the day. I found the quality was good in depth with many smashing bitches going home cardless especially in Junior, Yearling & Limit. Mouths were all good with just the odd misplaced tooth but some looked like 50 a day smokers!

I was looking for a blend between bull & terrier & many I thought fitted the bill lost out as they were so slab sided. It goes without saying temperament was faultless & I wouldn’t expect it to be any different.

There are no exhibitors that can produce atmosphere ringside like us Stafford enthusiasts & long may that remain.

MP (2,1a)

1 Jackson’s Jackabyte Miss Moneypenny, off to a good start here, although she was alone this is a quality girl who will give her compatriots a run for their money. A 7 months b/br with a pretty headpiece & good length & strength in her muzzle. She has a wide, true front with tight feet spoilt by long nails, please get them cut! For a pup she has a strong body shape with ample rib cage & strong backend. She was handled to great advantage & moved like a trooper when settled.

P (6)

1 Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs, this red pied took the rest to the cleaners on the move, great to see her stride out. She also excels on her clean head shape with a strong muzzle & no hint of excess flesh in sight. Her front shows enough width to balance with length of leg & enough daylight for her depth of brisket. She is short coupled with good width to her second thigh & short rear pasterns all of which go to producing that great movement. BPB bitch & in agreement with Paul, BP;

2 Weiss’ Nothing Else Matters Great ‘N Glory, not a big girl this one but what a pretty face with correct depth of stop producing round, dark eyes which melt your heart & neat, rose ears used to advantage. She is short coupled with ample spring & depth of rib. Her handler shows off her sound front giving her the edge. All this is finished off with tight, well padded feet & the shortest of black nails. She was so shiny I thought she was wet!

3 Martin’s Bethaleese Melisandre, this dark brindle is not a big girl but has a balanced body outline. Her head is strong with a short, strong muzzle. Her movement was ok when she settled.

J (17,2)

1 Pushko & Nywko’s Lawstaff Inky, loved the clean, balanced outline of this b/br with no hint of exaggeration in sight. I found her to be sound as a pound with a true straight front, wide enough & showing the right amount of daylight. Unstacked she showed a strong neck leading to well laid shoulders & angulation at the rear to match her front. It’s no surprise she moved out with style. Looking down she had the rib development lacking in many. Her head shape was typical Stafford with clean lips & round, dark eyes set off by off by well used thin, rose ears;

2 Yates, Tune & Cund’s Tusselstaff Black Diamond, a b/br with an expression second to none aided by tight, clean lips & correct depth of stop leading to forward looking dark, round eyes of the right size & hence producing a sweet expression. Her length & depth of muzzle balance with head. She shows great balance from all angles but wasn’t a happy girl & did her best to hide these thus giving her handler a torrid time but it’s still obvious she’s a quality bitch;

3 Southall’s Beckash Black Ice, this girl is another with a great face & couldn’t be faulted on her happy nature, I got a severe tongue lashing as I went over her, just how a Stafford should act. She shows good overall balance with a short coupled body & her sound construction resulted in her striding happily out & maintaining her topline, but would have preferred tighter feet. She pushed the first two all the way in a good class & just had to give way on the day.

Y (15,3)

1 Boulton’s Nizeva Va Nessa, well, what can I say. I’m pretty sure everyone who knows how I see a Stafford bitch would also know I would love this b/br girl & my notes simply say ‘loved her’. She lit up the ring for me with that keen face so full of life & naughtiness. She has large, round dark eyes & the neatest of rose ears that were on the go all the time. Her front is spot on with enough bone & width & showing no weakness at her pasterns. She has a lovely crest of neck leading to well laid shoulders. Her rib when you look down on her body balances out so well & all is finished off by a strong backend with broad hams. She was as hard as nails & strode out showing free active movement when she settled to the job in hand. Thank you for bringing her & wish she was mine. I was pleased to award her the CC & she was also BOS;

2 Butler’s Joemikeste Play The Game, as if that wasn’t enough here’s another bitch right up my street. She also is full of the joys of spring & this all helps to make that expression stand out from the rest in tight competition. She has a typical face with a strong muzzle of correct length & no hint of lippiness. Her eyes are well placed & of correct size. There is plenty of daylight on view & this is balanced by her length of leg & width of front plus the depth of her brisket & length & spring of her ribcage. Her movement is good showing plenty of drive but just wish she’d keep that tail down. I considered her for RCC but she seemed to have lost her mojo by then;

3 Grieve’s Nettleworth No Kan Doo, again a typical Stafford face with all the essentials in the right places to scream I’m a Stafford. From the front & the side she has a great outline with a close coupled body & correct drop of brisket. She lost out on her determination to be elsewhere other than in the ring.

N (3,1)

1 Ryan’s Rubericla Little Elita One, this b/br was unlucky to be in an excellent Junior class but I’m sure her turn will come. She has a correct, clean headpiece with no hint of excess flesh. She has plenty of bone & shows a straight, clean front with no looseness at the elbow. Her rib needs to spring & hence this will shorten her back but time is on her side & I’m sure then she will trouble the best;

2 B Melisandre.

G (6)

1 Ford & Williams’ Dajast Sweety With Jam’n Loz, Res in one of the best Junior classes I’ve judged for a while & she scored heavily in her sound movement which was produced by the angulation of her front & backend being of equal balance. She has a clean head & large dark eyes which melt the heart. She’s only young & I’m sure there is more yet to come but wasn’t surprised to be told that this win gave her, her JW. Well done;

2 Evans’ Willowstaff Double Top at Sleetmoor, a soundly made & balanced red bitch with a pleasing clean head shape & no hint of lippiness. She has enough bone on her straight front & a good depth of brisket. Overall a straight forward girl with much to commend her;

3 Johnston’s Druidhawk Freyja, a stronger all over bitch than the first two but with a typical keen expression & handled to show off her virtues. She has a wide front but this is in balance with her body proportions.

PG (15)

1 Moureu-Larrang’s I Need Your Money Du Clan’ Molotov, I thought this bitch was really something special & the more I saw of her the more I liked her. She’s not a big girl but shows such a degree of balance as not to be bypassed. She’s predominantly white with a brindle patch over one eye & has the prettiest of faces with a strong, blunt muzzle in proportion to the rest of her head. Her eyes are as dark as cesspits & she uses those neat rose ears to give an alert yet soft expression. Whatever angle viewed from there was balance & soundness in spades with a great, well angulated front, good spring & depth of rib all set off by a strong correctly angulated rear. I was pleased to award her the RCC;

2 Houghton’s Belterstaff She Wore Prada, a tidy red bitch with all the attributes I was looking for. Again a clean face with round, well placed dark eyes giving the desired expression. She has a straight front showing no weakness & hence well laid shoulders & balanced body proportions. Those hams on her backend are like iron driving her round the ring;

3 McKimm’s Biggleswick Fifty Fifty, a very pretty red girl with a super clean face. She has plenty of bone & a great spring & depth of rib on her short coupled body. She stands foursquare on tight feet & moved with life & attitude.

L (20,2)

1 Thomas’ Cwmcalon Lady Million for Gazstaff, this classy girl would be easy to miss as she wants to be elsewhere but the more you look the better she gets. She has the best of faces where all the bits come together to produce a cracking expression. She is dark brindle & has a straight front with enough lift & strong bone & stands on tight feet with short, black nails. Her strong, correctly angulated backend along with her correct front produced sound, business like movement;

2 Johnson’s Ginstean My Girl Lollipop at Nikkylestaff, this bitch oozes class, she has a strong head with blunt muzzle of the length to balance the rest of her head. Her eyes are dark & watch you all the time plus her neat ears are used to advantage. She has ample bone & lovely tight, well padded feet. Her body is well developed & backend is strong with a well developed second thigh. Just preferred the overall balance of the first;

3 Gutierrez Roldan’s El Doradostaff Sinai, this girl has a keen expression & stands foursquare on a straight front & has the correct spring & depth of ribcage. She’s a quality upstanding b/br with many virtues to offer the breed.

O (10,3)

1 Jardine’s Cover Girl at Farhan, a bitch to be admired with a typical expression produced by the good length of her clean muzzle in balance with her skull & set off her neat, rose ears & good sized, round, dark eyes correctly positioned. She is soundly built & can’t be faulted on her super balance & close coupled body. She has sound quarters with short rear pasterns;

2 Jones’ Rougestaff Flaming Ice, a pretty r/w pied with a strong & typical head set off by the darkest of eyes. She has matured into a balanced, soundly built girl since I last judged her & well deserved her placing today;

3 Lewis’ Macadermus Myrna Queen at Inkastaff, this is a strong girl & scored on her lovely expression enhanced by her round dark eyes. Overall she is soundly made & held her outline on the move.
