STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BELFAST 14

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

I had a great day judging Staffords today, some very good dogs under me, thank you to my two wonderful stewards on the day, & especially the exhibitors who accepted my decisions very graciously, I thank you.

I was disappointed to find a few canine faults on show today, I thought this was behind us, also overall movement was not great, only a few that really pleased me. On the brighter side I thought the dogs were stronger than they have been in the last few years, a plus in my opinion. My BD & BB I was very proud to award them CCs, two excellent animals. I hope the exhibitors enjoyed the day as much as I did, thank you all.

JD

1 Houghton’s Belter Staff Ginger Joe, red, very nice head, good bite, nice dark eye, neat ears, very well balanced, good front, nice pigmentation, moved well & held his topline on the move. Handled well, still a bit to come but has a bit of class;

2 Moore & Connery’s Cicely Crazy Horse, pied dog, great head, good bite, neat ears showing good expression. Very nice front, well balanced, shown very well, not just the movement of 1 or the conditioning but a very nice young dog;

3 Adlam’s Fairleniums Top Gear.

PGD

1 Donaghy & McEldowney’s Angranian Fionn Mccool, pied dog with lovely head, good bite, dark eye, neat ears, making very nice expression, good front, short coupled, nice clean outline, moved OK. Worthy class winner;

2 Holmes’ Barielle Field Marshall, another with a good head, strong muzzle, good bite, ears not as tidy as my winner, good front, well bodied & in very good order, moved OK;

3 McClements’ Storm Fire Billy-boy at Kidszac.

LD

1 Ryan’s Rubericla Black Starscream, b/br, very good head, clean bite, dark eye, neat ears which he used well. Short muzzle, has a nice straight front & short back, moved well & carried tooling well as he moved, shown off very well in a very close class;

2 Molineux’s Siamstaffs New Moon at Druidhawk, another very good dog, just split these two on heads, all the attributes of 1 & shown very well, just didn’t have the expression of winner today, a very close decision on that, could easily reverse next time out;

3 Quigley’s Cilledoire War Machine.

OD

1 Corcoran’s Ch/Ir Ch Zakstaff What’s The Story at Molru, my first time looking over this dog & I must say he deserved every honour that he has achieved. Cracking head, good bite, very nice expression, neat ears, great body, very well balanced. Stood foursquare, good rearquarters, moves OK, handled very well. Glad to have awarded him a CC, a very worthy ch;

2 Fairhurst’s Fairleniums Snow Patrol, pied dog I have judged before as a young dog, he has matured well, cracking head, good depth, neat ears, good bite, short neck going into very nice front with great depth of brisket, short back, good rearquarters, best mover of the day, personally would just like a little bit more leg to balance him out but a very good Stafford;

3 Clarke & Travers’ Briganah Black Chieftain.

PB

1 Hopwood & Holt’s Bold Stock Here I Am, really pleased with my winner here, she took my eye from the off, br/w, beautiful head, great expression, good bite, very nice front & so clean, great balance, shown well, will be watching this puppy’s progress with interest. BP & PG2, very well done;

2 Duncan’s Nettleworth No Nonsense, another excellent puppy, didn’t make it easy for winner, b/br, very good head, nice ear carriage, good bite, clean front, nicely balanced puppy in very good order, moved OK, handled well, another with a very good future ahead of her, two excellent pups;

3 McClements’ Jodanzac Brindle Pride.

JB

1 Johnston & Brown’s Revelry Custom Made, excellent b/br, beautiful head & expression, good bite, neat ears, darkest of eyes, good front & very well balanced, nice rib, good sound back end, really showed well & moved well today, this bitch really worked hard every time, I looked near her she was standing square, she really deserved her RCC today & I’m positive tickets won’t be far away;

2 Nicholson & Finney’s Ballindona Caol, very good bitch, b/br, very good head, good bite, neat ears, straight front, very well balanced with nice rib & good quarters, moved OK, didn’t show herself of as much as winner today who was in top form;

3 Jenkins’ Belter Staff Rock Steady.

PGB

This was a very close class with any of the top three capable of changing places, had to really nitpick here.

1 Hopgood & Kerry’s Starolestaff Mystic Mini of Antroboss, really nice b/br, good head with nice ears making very nice expression, clean bite, good front & short back, good backend & in very good condition, moved OK, well handled, very alert in line-up;

2 Southall’s Dynastaff Black Velvet, another very nice bitch, b/br with nice head, good bite, clean front & good overall outline, good backend, moved OK, very close decision, winner just had that little bit more sparkle today;

3 Jardines Cover Girl at Farhan.

LB

3 Stephens’ Midnight Trouble.

OB

1 McPhails’ Scorguie Stolen Kisses, b/br, really stood out today, loved this bitch from when I laid eyes on her as she entered the ring, top size, very well balanced, clean outline, beautiful head & expression with dark eye, good topline held on the move, excellent front & in superb condition, showed her socks off. Pleased to have the pleasure of giving her the CC & BOB;

2 Parlett’s Janikastco Hellfire of Starloestaff, red bitch, very well balanced, strong but feminine, good head with dark mask & strong muzzle, good front, nice spring of rib, good rearquarters, nice pigmentation, shown & handled very well;
