STAFFORDSHIRE BULL BELFAST 13 Judge(s): MR M G GRIMWOOD Staffordshire Bull Terriers I came across most shapes & sizes & dimensions. Some with muzzles that I cannot consider purposeful, although being fair, most were equipped with full dentition. One or two with misplaced incisors which didn’t affect much of the decision making. Other mouth faults were penalised more severely. I tried as always to find sound traditional Staffords for my placings & believe by & large managed this. My main winners fit into that category no problem. PD 1 Tittley & Bosanko’s Willowstaff Nats My Daddy at Garwstaff, b/br looking very promising at this stage, head balances to body, skull has width & depth, good length to muzzle, extremely impressive dentition with strong long canines, good expression provided by neat ears, correctly placed & dark eye, correct stop & tight in lip, straight in forequarters, decent levels of fitness, good spring of rib & light in the loin, correct rear angulation. Would prefer a little more pad & tightness of foot; 2 McClement’s Stormfire Billy Boy, red of slightly stronger proportions than 1, good head & expression, dark eye looking forward, neat well positioned ears, good strength to the muzzle width & depth with length, good forechest, up on pasterns, angulations good on fore, good spring of rib, neck flows well into level topline. Would prefer a little more angulation at the stifle. JD 1 Kelly’s Lanluain Precious Blood, Standard b/br with good expression & reasonably tidy ears, strong underjaw, neat in the lip & reasonably dark eye but would prefer darker. Head balances to body, straight & strong in forequarters, feet turn out slightly at pastern, level topline, good spring of rib, neck flowed well into topline, good body definition, well developed hams & second thigh, good rear angulation, moved smoothly; 2 Devlin’s Tightlines Living The Dream, stronger red with very good expression, decent head, dark eyes, very strong muzzle, head balances to body, impressive spring of rib, light in loin, wide shoulders with pelvis almost matching, well muscled rear, both first & second thigh, moved reasonably well. There are things that detract on him but his qualities gained him his placing. GD 1 Beeby & Watson’s Geordiestaff Dynamo Dexter, b/br with white blaze, very nice dog, good expression, dark eye, neat ears, tight in lip, strong underjaw clearly visible as it should be, straight in forequarters, feet turning out slightly at the pastern, up on his toes, brisket to elbow, good angulation fore & aft with good columns of support. Would prefer more definition between rib & loin. Front, shoulder & pelvis showed good width, moved smoothly; 2 Quigley’s Cilledoire War Machine, bigger headed b/br with less definition to his skull than 1, please do not think that I thought this a minus point though, well muscled with good spring of rib. Would prefer more definition between rib & loin. Moved well. LD 1 Stanway’s Waystaff Diggers Double, red with white blaze, Standard dog with good expression helped by a dark eye & neat well placed ears, skull & muzzle have width & depth as does his muzzle which is of correct length & has a good bite within, dark nails & mask add to his cosmetic plus points, front has width & lift, has a decent length of upper arm & is well up on pasterns with brisket to just below elbow, decent tuck up but would prefer more along with a bit more definition between rib & loin, well angulated hindquarters get his feet where they should be, they are well muscled with good first & second thigh development, moved well. RCC; 2 Frankland’s Aldwych Tokyo Joe, close up on 1 was a b/br, typical head shape with nothing overdone, skull has width & depth. Would personally prefer a shade more strength to his muzzle & eyes could be a bit darker. Good bite, excellent balance with super clean front, well up on his pasterns, brisket to elbow, tuck up & body definition matched 1, well muscled hindquarters, good angulations allowed correct positioning of pads naturally, moved well. OD 1 Stanway’s Watstaff Strikes Out, extremely attractive br/pied with the cleanest of heads, tight clean lips, neat well placed rose ears, darkest of eyes looking straight ahead, pronounced cheek bumps, strong in underjaw, correct length of muzzle which has depth & width & houses a good bite, just the right amount of stop, has the correct expression for the breed & there cannot be many that better him, straight in forequarters with good width across his chest balanced with the correct amount of lift, up on his pasterns, neat well padded feet, good spring of rib. Ideally I would prefer a shade more definition between rib & loin. Good angulations get his feet where they should be, well muscled hindquarters showing good development of first & second thigh, moved very well. CC; 2 Robbins’ Antroboss In The Red with Jakastaffs, strong red with very good expression, head balances to body, correctly placed dark eye, strong muzzle, clean lipped, up on his pasterns, dark nails, decent forequarter angulation with well sprung ribs, well muscled rear with developed first & second thigh, moved reasonably well, preferred rear angulation of 1. PB 1 Tittley & Bosanko’s Garwstaff Sitting Pretty, well named, she is a pretty athletic br/w, flash & paws, nice typical bitch with nothing overdone, head balances to body, has depth & width with strong muzzle of functional length, tight clean lips & good big strong teeth. Looks a shade leggy still at this point but this will I think correct upon maturity, brisket to elbow, good angulations get her feet underneath her, alert at all times & moved very well. BP; 2 Jardines’ Cover Girl at Farhan, pipped by 1 was this excellent b/br with probably a very successful future, beaten by the smallest of margins after weighing up this & that swithering this way then the other I went for the impressive bite on 1, standard bitch with a lovely expression, good length of muzzle, tight clean lips, dark eyes, good bite & strong underjaw, forequarters well angulated with decent length of upper arm, rear angulations get her pads naturally where they should be, starting to muscle up on the rear, a very nice puppy. JB 1 Byrnes’ Lackyle Bean Olc, Standard b/br with white flash on her chest, very nice with a typical expression, neat ears placed well on the side of her skull that has both width & depth, her stop is ample & not overdone, dark eyes of good shape & position compliment the pleasing expression, her muzzle balances to her head, clean lips & houses a good bite, a good width to her front with lift, strong straight forequarters with feet slightly turning out, brisket is to elbow with good angulations fore & aft that put her feet naturally where they should be, acceptable level of fitness, her movement was effective parallel & effortless. RCC; 2 Tittley & Bosanko’s Garwstaff Angels Delight, a taller bitch without the apparent condition of 1, good head & bite with definitely nothing overdone whatsoever, skull has width & depth as did muzzle, good bite, correct stop, good angulations front & back, level topline, could be a little more animated. Moved very well. PGB 1 Young’s Rapstaff One Direction at Willchar, b/br, good typical expression, skull has width & depth, round dark eyes well placed, tended to keep her ears tucked back, (until the photograph), tight in the lip, good muzzle, well up on pasterns, front has width & lift, good angulations front & rear get her feet where they should be & her quarters support her body well, good level of fitness overall & well muscled up at the rear, a level topline standing & on the move & moved out well; 2 Rhodes’ Crumkil Gidemon Girl at Teracota, b/br who was a stronger type than 1, purposefully strong in the head with good length of muzzle, dark eye, skull has width & depth as does her muzzle, good width across her chest balanced by lift & good spring of rib. Thought she could be more up on her pasterns. Her brisket is to elbow & her angulations get her feet where they should be, level topline. LB 1 Raynesford & Stevens’ Raynstaff Do You Know Who I Am, Standard br/w with an excellent typical expression helped by alert dark eyes & neat rose ears correctly placed, outgoing bitch, muscular active & agile describe her very well, fit as a flea, right up on her toes & missing nothing, strong yet feminine, very clean around the head & muzzle with the correct amount of definition to be typical, strong, hard clean lipped muzzle has width & depth with good bite, her well muscled neck flows on through her withers, well sprung rib, good tuck up & light muscular loins, well up on pasterns with good pads, first & second thigh development was excellent, moved effortlessly. CC & BOB; 2 Young’s Roughnecks Lush Lashes at Wilchar, a red with a white chest who was getting close to the fitness of 1, a shade taller & rangier, lovely head shape & expression, dark eyes & neat ears, clean on the front, good spring of rib & tuck up, good angulations & moved well, appeals to me greatly with virtue to spare but she stood on feet that splayed slightly & it cost her in my thoughts about the RCC. OB 1 Marshall’s Diamond Cut, b/br, well up on the leg with good head & expression, no exaggerations, muzzle is of purposeful length with good depth & width, tight lipped & strong in underjaw, dark eye & neat ears add to her typical expression, a fit bitch, up on her pasterns, good spring of rib & definition between these & pelvis being light in loin, good angulations on front & rear with good development of first & second thigh, moves very well; 2 Hirst & Bibby’s Ch Taraiel Ciara, Standard b/br, more compact than 1, very strong defined head, dark eye, tight clean lips, straight in forequarters, good spring of rib & well muscled hindquarters showing well developed first & second thigh. Didn’t seem to be at ease at all. MARTIN GRIMWOOD |
