STAFFORDSHIRE BULL BATH 17 Judge: Mr N Merrick BEST OF BREED : 1623 HOUGHTON Mr I Ch Belterstaffs Ginger Joe STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BATH 17 Staffordshire Bull Terriers Thank you for affording me your precious time to assess your stock & give my opinion based upon the KC guidelines & my interpretation of it. Overall quality was super, there were however a couple of specimens with high toes which is a pet hate of mine. Mouths were good so too coats. MPD (4) 1 Jenkins’ Slatady Above The Clouds, a pleasing youngster with plenty of bone. The head is coming & he has a nice ear carriage. His expression is keen & his eye dark. He has correct dentition & a correct length of neck. He is made well in the front & rear & moved OK for a young dog; 2 Stanway’s Waystaff Strike Force, a red dog with quality. Correct head with correct ear & dark eye. Correct dentition & made well in the forequarters. Correct angulation in rear. Moved OK, I preferred the bone & substance of the class winner; 3 Moureu-Larrang’s Magic Charmer Du Clan’ Molotov. PD (9,2a) 1 Shipp & Hammond’s Hammystaff Hanky Panky with Idyllicstaff, this young red dog with black mask is a stunner. He has a head shape that will finish nicely with well placed ears & dark round eyes. His expression is keen & very pleasing. He has ample bone & is made well in all departments. His dentition is big & correctly set with good width & depth to his underjaw his flews are correct & clean. He has a correct lay of shoulder & is the correct length in body. He is well for rib on such a young specimen. His rear is strong with a good bend of stifle & his tailset correct. He moved well for a young one on such a hot day. This boy & his handler work well together & it shows in his attitude in the ring, total trust in her! 2 Stanway’s Little Earthquakes Power Strike at Waystaff, a brindle dog with quality throughout. Correct head with correct ear & dark eye. Correct dentition & made well in all departments. Moved OK; 3 Arntzen & Kerry’s Catstaffs Firefly. JD (9,1) 1 Breckell’s Chiswelstaff Lets Dance, a dog that stood out in his class as soon as they walked in. A chiselled head, dark eye & neat ear, he has correct dentition, he demanded you look at him. Straight front depth width & bone. He has a level topline & moved with drive. If only there were more than 2 top prizes! 2 Marshallsay’s Fergustaff Jack Frost, a standard r/f dog with great attribute. Today unlucky to meet the class winner. He has a correct head with the right amount of muzzle & correct scissor bite. He has deep dark eyes. His expression is that of keenness & he is made well throughout. Moved well for his handler; 3 Weiss’ Out Of The Dark Great ‘N Glory. ND (6) 1 H Hanky Panky with I; 2 Guillat’s Little Polar Froce Blackbull Diamond, a nice r/w dog with a cracking expression. Correct ear & eye, correct dentition, straight front & strong pasterns with correct feet. The neck is strong & of a correct length. His shoulder is well laid back & rib is plenty. He is made well in the rear & this showed in his movement; 3 Harrison & Roper’s Trawden Ice Rebel. PGD (14,2) 1 Lewis’ Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge, a standard red dog with bone, substance & breed type. He has a keen expression because of his well set ear & dark eye housed in that black mask. His dentition is correct & lips clean. He is deep straight & wide in the front as should be. His forequarters & rearquarters make up an all round pleasing specimen. His movement was effortless & with drive & he pushed hard for top honours; 2 Rees’ Edgeworth Arturo, a powerful headed dog with plenty of substance. Correct ear & eye with correct dentition. He is wide & deep in the brisket & correct in the front. He is short through & strong in the rear. His movement was with drive from the rear; 3 Turner’s Quatros Iron Clad Buddy. LD (18,2) 1 Moureu-Larrang’s Lord Largo Pineapple Du Clan’ Molotov, this red dog turned my head as soon as he walked in the ring. A flashy white front & black mask, a keen expression, neat correctly placed ear, darkest of eyes, correct length of muzzle housing correct dentition, clean & big. Straight front, correct turn of foot & well padded too. Well for rib & short coupled, well bent stifle & strong rearquarters. He moved with drive & carried his topline well. Another that for me won’t be far off top honours; 2 Heron’s Manark Fast N Furious, a brindle dog of type. Correct shape head & correct ear. His eye could be darker but correct for the coat colour. His teeth are correct & big. He is good for bone & substance & well ribbed. He has a well made rear & moved well; 3 Mayren’s Bellarouge Adonis at Fergiestaffs. OD (12,1) 1 Houghton’s Ch Belterstaffs Ginger Joe, wow what a specimen of a dog! This is my ideal of a Stafford. Great strength for size, hard as a rock & on the tiptoe of expectation at all times. He is balanced & he oozes breed type. He has a masculine strong skull with a deep stop & well pronounced cheek muscles. He has well placed small rose ears & the darkest round eye, giving that keen expression we try so hard to breed. His foreface is enough & he has a good fill under the eye. He has a wide & deep underjaw housing a perfect set of big white clean teeth. His neck is strong, his front is straight & well angulated through the shoulder. He has a correct depth of brisket & a rib well sprung of the correct shape & size. His length & height are correct giving a balance to him that few achieve. He has correct feet with strong pasterns & short nails. His rearquarters are strong & well muscled. He has a pump handle like tail that is carried correctly not high, & this dog moves, parallel when viewed from front or rear, straight in the topline, not dipped nor arched, drive, power, free motion all as you would expect from a top class dog on the move. My CC & BOB & then went on to win the Terrier Group. Then won the CC & BIS at the adjoining show. What a super dog! 2 Weiss’ Hulk Hogan Great ‘N Glory, this brindle boy I have watched with great anticipation. He is strong & all Stafford. His head shape is powerful through & he has a defined stop, pronounced cheek muscles & correct dentition. His neck is strong & correctly arched, his front straight & true. His feet are well turned out & of the correct virtue. His rib is plenty, his body the correct length & he is made well in the rear. His movement was good with drive & parallel when viewed from the rear. He pushed close but lost out on overall condition, he was just not quite... RCC; 3 Hedges & McBride’s Brohez Rubin Hurricane. VD (3) 1 Jones’ Blazinstaff Light My Fire, a red dog I have admired for years. Correct head, neat ears, correct dentition. He is straight in the front, has well laid back shoulder, plenty of rib, plenty of bone. His rear make up is sound, he oozes breed type. As fit as a fiddle. He moves like a dream, a credit to his owner. Thank you for bringing him for me to assess. BV; 2 Fletcher & Seedhouse’s Jsy Ch Granitangel Zircon, a standard size brindle dog. Correct ear & dark eye, straight in the front & good for rib. Made well in the rear & moved well for one of his years; 3 Smart & Worthy’s Fifa Blue. MPB (9,2) 1 Southworth & Hart’s Jackstaff Valentina, a pretty girl this one. White & red with a cracking feminine expression that shouted pick me! Neat ear, dark eye & correct mouth. Straight in front & nicely shaped body that will mature well. A proper puppy that went well for her handler; 2 Beesley’s Maxstaff Miss Whizz, a red bitch that is also a proper puppy, nothing overdone, neat ear & dark eye, she is well made but yet to mature, she has lots to offer & could swap places with first on another day; 3 Hammond’s Hammystaff Scarlet Witch. PB (2) 1 Jackson’s Jackabyte Miss Moneypenny, another to admire this young girl. A b/br bitch of nice quality. She took me by surprise a little as she’s full of breed type but so feminine. She has a beautiful piercing head shape with neat ear well set & dark round eyes. She has a clean jawline that houses correct dentition. Her neck is of the correct length & her shoulder well laid back. Her front is true & straight, her feet correct & well padded. She has body & width & depth with more to come as she matures on. Her rearquarters are well angulated with a well bent stifle. Her tailset is correct & she carried herself round the ring very well with economy of effort; 2 Mayren’s Joemikeste Queen Of The Nile at Fergiestaffs, a r/w bitch with correct expression, neat ear, & dark eye, her front is straight but she is not as strong as my first who I preferred the depth & width of. Albeit she is a tidy bitch with a bright future. Her rear is well made & she moved well. JB (9,1) 1 Stanway’s Stormfire Crack The Code at Waystaff, a beautiful r/w bitch whom caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring. She has a feminine look that I couldn’t pass by. Correct head shape for a young bitch with more to come, neat ear, dark eye correct dentition. She has a well made front with correct feet. Her body will come with a few more months maturing but all is there in the correct place. Age is most definitely on her side. She is made well in the rear & she moved well from front & rear. She gave me a tough decision to make when choosing my RCC winner; 2 Southall’s Beckash Black Ice, a standard b/br bitch with a lot to like. She has a strong but feminine head with correct stop, dark eye & neat ear. I felt she gave a little away in her depth of brisket but her front is straight & true. She has a correct body length & her rearquarters are angulated correctly. Her movement was OK; 3 Simpson’s Briganah Body And Soul. NB (2) 1 Riggs & Case’s Antroboss Look At Me Now, a red bitch with a lovely head shape. She has a dark eye surrounded by the black mask. Her ears are neat & her bite is correct. She is straight in the front with a little daylight. She is well made in body & correct rearquarters. She moved with drive; 2 Hunt’s Engladian Leather And Lace, a short stocky bully bitch in brindle. She had a pleasing head with neat ear & a correct mouth. She was a little low to ground for my liking but had a lot of correct attributes. PGB (24,2) 1 Lee’s Leebee’s Precious, a white & fawn bitch with plenty to like. A correct head with dark eye & good dentition, a nice straight front & correct feet. She is good for depth, width & has substance in abundance. She is well ribbed & has correct rearquarters. She moved very well with economy of effort; 2 Houghton’s Belterstaff She Wore Prada, red bitch with a piercing head. Well set ears, dark eye correct dentition. Correct front with well laid back shoulder. Her body is short coupled & well made in the rear. She moved OK but could, for me, do with a bit more cover; 3 Scotland’s Callastaff Moon River. LB (14,1) 1 Weiss’ Can’t Touch This Great N Glory, a b/br bitch of type. She is bang on standard, has a correct head with a correct stop, dark eye, neat ear & correct dentition. Her front is straight & true. Her rib is well sprung & she is well for bone. Her rear angulation is correct & she moved very well carrying her topline correctly whilst doing so, her handler getting the best from her at all times; 2 Johnson’s Bullhawk Maybe Mytime, this b/br/w bitch is very nice, she has a stunning head with darkest eyes, good stop & correct muzzle. Her dentition is good. She too is straight in the front with good feet. She is well bodied & has a correct rear structure, moved well & at one with her handler; 3 McKimm’s Biggleswick Fifty Fifty. OB (14,3) 1 Rogers’ Ch Berrystock Charlies Angel, well this one took knocked me for six. B/br bitch that is just stunning. A superb head shape with the keenest expression, her dark eyes & rose ears with the correct stop, wow. She has correct dentition, clean in the flew with a strong neck. Her front is, well, wide, deep & straight. She has substance, bone, width, & depth. She is well laid back in the shoulder, bags of rib, short coupled & very well made in the rear. She was put down in great condition, she gleamed. I would have her on my sofa any day of the week. She owned this class & she knew it. CC; 2 Butler’s Seenworstaff Storm Warning at Joemikeste, a red bitch I have liked for a long time but never had the chance to go over. She is standard & beautiful. Her head is correct, her eye dark, correct scissor bite, front angulation is correct, so too the rib & body length. Her rear is made well & tailset correct. She moved well for her handler. Pleased to award her a RCC; 3 Canavan’s Ch Boldstock Am I Bovered. VB (3) 1 Hirst & Bibby’s Ch Taraiel Ciara, a brindle bitch of great quality, pleasing head, dark eye & correct mouth. Well made in front & body, her rearquarters too are correct & she moved well, in great condition Thank you for giving me the opportunity to assess her; 2 Funnell’s Ch Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, another classy lady with similar attributes to my first. Correct headed bitch with a keen expression. Dark eye, correct mouth. Correct front & body, her rear also right. Moved with enthusiasm; 3 Canavan’s Boldstock Bella Quinn. N MERRICK
