SKYE JUDGE WINDSOR 25

I would like to thank the exhibitors for entering their dogs and the committee for inviting me. A small entry, but I was pleased with the overall quality. I think this may possibly be the last time I judge this wonderful and beloved breed after some 40+ years involvement, with 20 Champions in the UK and around the world, plus several winners of stud book numbers. Having had our lines devastated by Skye Hepatitis, I find it an increasingly hard and emotional experience to go over the exhibits. Please be aware of the disease and it’s fatal effects; just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it is not lurking in the background. I would like to commend the club, especially Cath Parker, for the support of the genetic research into the inheritance mode.

1 Birgisdottir Skoradale Badass Silver boy. Balanced head, good drop earset, leathers close to head, correct drop. Dark eye, strong jaw, large teeth and correct bite. Of good body proportion and harsh coat. Does not want to grow anymore. Front and rear assembly good, strong bone, moved well. Another who needs a little more time to complete the picture. Sympathetically handled

1 & RDCC Tiny Winne Argon Targaryon. Clearest of creams with lovely pigmentation. Glorious coat of correct texture and length. Looks like a cream should look like. Why this dog is still in Special Beginners I cannot understand. Lovely head, good bite with strong dentition. Beautiful neck that flows into a very good forehand. Strong ribcage of correct length and shape. Excellent topline which was held on the move. Rear angulation very good which gave him excellent front and rear movement with plenty of front and rear extension

1 & DCC Shuttleworth’s Whicheeta Walk the Walk I judged this dog last at Scottish Breeds 3 years ago and gave him a well deserved RCC. He has since improved again A pleasing understated adult male of 6 years, who displays excellent breed type. Not the flashiest of dogs but he is so correct for size. He is so very sound with good front and rear extension. Level topline which he kept on the move. Masculine head with no coarseness. Good ear set, good bite and strong underjaw. Proudly carried head on neck of correct length and flowing into excellent forehand. Good length of rib and strong loin. Tailset ok. Well deserved ticket and I hope he gets his crowning CC soon

Special Beginners

1 Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (Imp Swe)

2 Harris’ Nahearadh Sky Full of Stars. Cream bitch of just over 12months. Feminine head with good ear set and bite. Little shorter in neck to winner however layback of shoulders was ok. Level topline and good rear angulation. Moved nicely and with drive. Should mature on well with future promise.

2 very pleasing exhibits

1 Volkova’s Verumanicus Calypso Cream in full coat. Serious contender for CC but in challenge did not move as well. Pleasing head shape with dark eye, correct bite and good earset. Lovely reach of neck going into good shoulders and length of ribcage. Rear angulation good and nice turn of stifle. Moved well in the class.

2 Cox’ Silverbriar Imogen of Pettipaws Younger silver bitch moved well holding her topline. Feminine head, correct bite and dentition, strong jaw. Good layback of shoulder, overall body shape good. Harsh coat. Unfortunate to meet first.

A very pleasing class to judge

1 & RCC Holt’s Coriend Let’s Do Justice A Cream bitch Ccream bitch of almost 2 years who moved well. Lovely headpiece, darkest of eyes, good bite and pigmentation. Lovely reach of neck going into excellent forequarters. Level topline both standing and on the move. Good front and rear extension. Hope she goes on to get her championship.

2 Shuttleworth & Whincup Wondersky Wish You Were Here at Whicheeta (Imp.USA). I judged this girl as a young very raw 6 month old puppy. Another lovely bitch who was unfortunate to meet the winner. Good earset, correct dentition and bite. Length of neck good, forequarters ok with good lay of shoulders. Lovely topline and long rib cage. Rear angulation OK and length of hock. Good example of a Skye bitch bitch.

3 Chapman’s Verumamicus Dione at Melminds.

Ob (1)

1 Grainger’s Black Cullins Catriona (Imp.Deu) BCC & BOB Judged this cream bitch in 2022 at Scottish Breeds and, like good wine, she has certainly improved with age. She has matured well. Very happy to award her the 3rd and crowning CC, worthy champion. Very good headpiece with excellent bite and dentition. Strong underjaw with large teeth. Powerful neck flowing into well placed shoulders and forequarters. Excellent ribcage with heart room and length of loin. Very good rear angulation with well let down hocks. Showed how she could move well and kept her topline. A lovely bitch.
