SKYE JUDGE WINDSOR 15

Skye Terriers

It was an honour to judge the breed at the Windsor show & I would like to thank the show society officials & stewards for making me feel so welcome. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for bringing their dogs along on what was a very hot & humid Thursday. Thanks especially to the dogs, whom I thought did the breed proud in the ring & outside of it.

PGD (1)

1 Conway’s Talyot Niall at Suzitzu, 2½ year old dark silver with a lovely headpiece. Strong skull with plenty of foreface, neat bite & dark eye. Good ear placement with nice fringes. Strong neck leading into the shoulder. Good spring of rib into a compact loin & adequate rear assembly. Could have moved with a little more drive. RBD.

OD (1)

1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum, beautiful 3 year old cream dog with lots to like. Super head & expression with correct bite, dark eye & correct ear placement. Neck strong without being overly long, leading into well laid back shoulders. Front neat & compact around a deep ribcage. Level topline to well angulated rear with correct tailset. Picture finished by correctly textured coat. Moved beautifully fore & aft, showing drive & purpose while maintaining lovely topline. BD.

1 Conway’s Whicheeta One Moment In Time for Suzitzu, 7 month old cream bitch who shows great promise. Feminine head with neat bite, dark eye & lovely ear placement. Graceful neck leading into a compact front with nicely angulated shoulder. Good spring of rib with a deep & long ribcage supported by a short loin. Powerful rear with good angulation that provided good drive on the move. Moved well in front & behind, just a little bit unsteady at times but doing well for a baby. RBB & BP.

OB (2)

1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Briar Rose, feminine 3 year old silver who looked a picture in the ring: long, low & level, standing & moving. Head elegant without sacrificing strength of bone, beautiful earset & fringing. Lovely neck, slightly crested but not overlong leading into lovely tight front assembly. Well laid back shoulders staying close to the body. Deep ribcage with excellent spring of rib into a lovely short loin. Powerful hindquarters that provided power & elegance in the movement. Moved beautifully. BB & BOB;

2 Barraclough’s Ch/Sw Ch Skyeotts Amnesix High Skye Miracle at Wemoway, another quality bitch, 8 year old dark silver drop ear. Beautiful feminine head with correct ear placement. Correct bite & dark eye with lots of expression. Strong but elegant neck leading to a very well put together front assembly. Excellent angulation of the shoulder & upper arm around a nice deep ribcage. Good length of back supported by short loin & an excellent rear assembly. Standing a shade higher than 1 at the shoulder but still beautifully balanced & in proportion. Slightly unsettled on the move to begin to when relaxed she moved well in front & behind making the class a very tough call.
