SKYE THREE COUNTIES 10 Judge/s:Mr A Burscough
Skye Terriers A small but quality entry that led to some close decisions. I was pleased that my BOB represented the breed well in a large terrier group, was shortlisted & narrowly missed a group placing. PD (0). JD (1) 1 King’s Little Lone Piper for Celticbridge, dark silver, maturing nicely & along the right lines, skull balanced with the right width & strength to ensure he has a masculine look, strong muzzle, correct bite, strong teeth, dark eye, ears well set, good length of neck leading into front assembly with appropriate angulation, tight & with the elbows fitting close to the body, ribcage of correct shape, has depth & OK for length, back level, firm loin & strong, well angulated hindquarters, correct tailset & length of tail, coat of harsh texture of correct length for age, moved well. PGD (1) 1 King’s Celticbridge North Wind, cream, masculine head, good width of skull, strength to his muzzle, correct bite with strong teeth, lovely expression with dark eyes, good earset & mobility set off with appropriate fringing, has a neck that has strength & of a good length, shoulder placement & angulation were correct, rib of the right shape with depth & was a good length, hindquarters were strong, angulation matching the front, nicely muscled, correct tailset & length of tail. On the stand he had an impressive profile but unfortunately he was not settled on the move but he did show some of the movement his construction indicates he should be able to produce. OD (4,2a) 1 Curtis’ Gumshoe Bugsy Malone of Brakemill, 6 years black, thought he looked a picture, in excellent coat & condition, handled to get the best out of him, displays the three L’s but is not overdone & is fit for function. Surprised he has still to gain his title but he was an excellent ambassador for the breed in a strong group where he made the shortlist. Super head, strong muzzle, correct bite, dark eyes, well set ears with lovely fringing, liked his length of neck & correctly angulated front assembly, rib of correct shape with good depth & length, strong loin giving a strong, level topline, hindquarters are strong with angulation matching his front with correct tailset & tail length, on the move he holds a firm topline & moves with freedom covering the ground with ease, all topped off with a full harsh jacket that enhances his appearance & completes the picture. BOB; 2 Parker’s Glorfindel Basil Brush, pale silver, another quality dog who was unfortunate to meet 1 in such good form. Many of the comments about 1 apply to him, of excellent type, strong masculine head, excellent front assembly, rib of the correct shape, depth & length, in lovely condition. Holds a firm backline on the stand but can lose it on the move at times when his concentration lapses. Just preferred the outline of 1 who was more settled to the job in hand but I’m sure on another day they could change places. RBD. PB (0). JB (1) 1 King’s Celticbridge Northern Star, cream, excellent type with her overall shape & proportions, taking the eye when she entered the ring, not disappointed in going over her, strong but feminine head, good strong muzzle & correct bite, very expressive with dark eyes & well placed well fringed ears, good length of neck, nicely angulated front, closely fitting elbows, correct shape of rib which has depth & length, firm topline, strong loin, hindquarters that compliment the front, tailset & length of tail fine. Needs to develop more confidence so that she can show her movement off to advantage & hopefully that will come as she matures. BB. PGB (0). OB (2,1) 1 Curtis’ Ch Tsuki Solastar of Brakemill, cream bitch who had decided that she would sabotage her handlers attempts to get the best from her, she was unhappy with the ring & was very skittish when she asked to move. Very feminine, nice head, eye colour & ear placement, nice length of neck, correct front assembly, her shape, depth & length of rib is fine, has a strong loin, in good coat & condition. She was obviously not happy, her topline was rising towards her rearend & she was unhappy about moving in the ring. RBB. TONY BURSCOUGH |
