My thanks to the exhibitors for their support on the day. As a non -breed -specialist perhaps a few observations may be of interest having first judged this breed in the 1980’s. Could not help but note the lack of power and muscle in some that in past years could be found in the majority of exhibits. Information on the breed says it is a big dog in a small frame heavily boned with strong muscular bodies. Without this the principle propelling power in movement is lost with some appearing to walk on their hocks. Tail carriage is worth a comment as some hung motionless to the ground rather than thrown back in a curve something I can not remember seeing before unless in a nervous exhibit. That said temperaments were good as were coats. Interesting to note the dog CC and RCC were aged 7& 8 years. VD (1) 1 Bhatairnis Fasach (Mason) This 7 year old posses a long powerful head, moderate width of skull has slight stop to strong proportionate muzzle. Eyes well set dark brown his prick ears just a little too far apart but not alone in this today. Has moderate length of neck to broad shoulders fairly close to body has deep chest with correct width, legs short well boned and muscular. Body well ribbed back short loin. Whilst topline could be firmer his rear quarters are strong and well angulated covering the ground well on the move. Most times carries his tail well just inclined to raise slightly above back line. Overall a typical Skye deserving of the RCC. PGD (2) 1 Rhoderns Arbika of Trelawneki (Heale & Davies) Has well proportioned head medium width, eyes well set ears rather wide apart but nicely fringed.Fair length of neck had decent and depth of chest, good topline and tail set moved okay. 2 Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (Imp Swe) (Simpson) Light grey in good coat, balanced head ears well fringed with dark points. Moderate length of neck and back would have preferred more depth to body. OD (5,1) 1 Esgia Highland Laddie VW (Sanderson) As with veteran winner is a typical Skye with power and muscle, his long head is of good proportion strong muzzle, dark brown well place eyes whilst ear carriage could be better overall looked the part on the day. Has good length of neck to well laid shoulders chest deep with width, body is long and low without exaggeration. Short legs well boned, rear quarters well developed with good angulation moved out well. CC. 2 Madaza Box of Frogs (Lyne) His head is of good proportion well placed drop ears hanging straight and flat. Has long neck slightly crested is carried with elegance to well angulated shoulders, body of good length and level back. Whist well ribbed back would prefer more depth and bone. 3 Flanagan The Troublemaker at Feorlig (Imp Svk) (Ryan) PB (1) 1 Feorlig No Good Deed (Ryan) Interesting to see have awarded a CC to her sire who had strength and power. Looks like this puppy could follow in his footsteps certainly has a lot going for her.Has great ring presence elegant reach of neck long level back. Happy to award RCC. PGB (1) 1 Silverbriar Imogen of Petitpaws (Cox) Head of moderate proportion, muzzle in balance but could have a little more strength. Has fair length of neck enough length of body with sufficient depth. Pleasing in front movement but a little close going away. OB (3,1) 1 Brakemill Midsummer Dream JW (Curtis) Admired her dam who have given a CC, this girl is a little smaller but well balanced all through. Has a typical head and expression well placed prick ears gracefully feathered. Has good length of neck with slight crest giving elegant carriage,Pleasing front good shoulders with just enough width to chest. Body well ribbed back short loin level topline would just prefer a little more substance. However presented a typical outline with correct tail.Rear quarters well angulated giving good drive on the move. CC & BOB. 2 Ch Black Cuillins Catriona (Imp Deu) (Grainger) Has well proportioned head with good strength pleasing eye ears spoil expression. Has fair length of neck to decent length of body with ample depth, legs short and well boned. Miss Ann Bradley Go To Top Of Page
