Skye Terriers

I really enjoyed my day with our lovely heavenly breed, all the exhibitors seemed very happy & friendly which made for a very warm feeling around the ring. Some lovely dogs on show & many who will change places on a different occasion.

1 White’s Talyots Menelaus at Gumshoe, 14 months well developed black of excellent type, super harsh straight coat, good height & length with a firm level topline on the stance & carried well on move, lovely head, good strength of skull, foreface & strong jaw, nice veiling over dark expressive eyes & ear fringes coming, muscular neck into well laid back shoulders, best of fronts with depth to chest & body line, elbows held into sides & well boned short legs of strength & strong feet, well muscled hindquarters, although has a super stride & is very sound, I would like to see a more motivated handling of this dog who should have a bright future;

2 Bell’s Celticbridge The Ferryman, very well handled by a new exhibitor to myself, nice outline to this 14 months cream coated male. Just lacking the finish & length of 1. Strong well shaped head & kind dark eyes, ears well set & carried with fringes coming, good length of neck set into a level topline over a long body lacking in substance & depth, enough front angulation but lacking in depth of chest, little out at elbow but used legs well with good stride, strong hindquarters moved with drive.

PGD (2)

1 Bailey & Hansel’s Mighty Mouse by Marjayn, very smart well coated cream with dark fringes, great headpiece with strength & balance & strong jaw with good dentition, dark expressive eyes with good veiling, ears well carried with dark fringes, strong well muscled neck & laid back shoulder into a backline that could be stronger, super angulated front, good depth of chest & brisket, elbows slightly out, well ribbed back body into short loin, body with depth & strength, super coat well presented & of excellent texture & colour, well turned stifle & muscled quarters, good front action although a little wide, I was surprised at the lack of rear drive & short striding action from such well built quarters, although was very sound.

1 Richardson’s Talyot Learchus, have watched this dog with interest from the first time I saw him as a baby, has now developed into a very nice youngster, super masculine head with strong muzzle, dark kind eyes well veiled, correctly shaped erect ears well fringed, strong neck into clean well laid back shoulder to firm backline to tail well carried, beautiful coat texture, well presented & conditioned, lovely body depth with ribs well back, best of front angles, short well boned legs & strong feet, good turn of stifle, well muscled quarters & short hocks, nice large, thick padded feet, very positive mover with strong drive & free forward throw, in the final line-up looked a little immature, just needs a few extra months & will cause some trouble;

2 Barrass’ Gallondean Moonlite Shadow, has always had my attention, now a fully mature dog of correct height to his long length, well muscled & carrying a super length to well conditioned & textured coat, excellent type, lovely masculine head of strength with nice fringes to ears & veiling to eyes, angulated front with deep chest, little out at elbow, strong boned legs. Not as straight as 1. Super firm topline to tail, just carried at times too high, lovely well ribbed back body with depth, strong hindquarters, free flowing sound mover with good drive;

3 Hawkes & Mason’s Maridale Blueys Beach.

OD (2)

1 Breezes’ Salena The Special One, certainly well named, a dog I have not seen before, I learned later he was at his second show, young dog but so well matured & developed, super outline of a good length, low & level, beautifully presented & textured straight coat touching the ground, strong well made head, dark expressive eyes covered in lovely furnishings & erect ears sporting super fringes, great strength to crested neck into well laid back shoulders & firm level backline to well set tail carried well over a body of substance & depth with ribs a fair way back to loin, deep chest & well angulated upper arm, best short, straight well boned front legs I have found on a Skye, strong, round well padded feet, muscular hindquarters, well turned stifle & short hocks, very sound, powerful effortless stride with good ground coverage. CC, his first, BOB & G3;

2 Stewart’s Ch Ir Me He Can Finnsky Momentous, I was so lucky to judge this dog when just 9 months in Finland & said there was one thing wrong with him, he did not belong to me, I have since judged him in Ireland & now here, he was such an exciting youngster. I believed his move to Ireland did not suit him but with his owners perseverance has started to look so much better & has developed & matured into a good looking masculine dog, retains a super head, lovely expressive eyes & ears with fringes, slightly taller than 1 but with a very good length & a very level backline over a body well ribbed back with depth, strong front angulation, well turned hindquarters & short hocks, straight well boned legs & tight well padded feet, excellent cream textured straight coat needing more length to complete picture, super sound mover with great free flowing stride, reach & drive. RCC.

VD (2)

1 McQueen’s Lynaire Me Darcey of Azrakhan, dark grey, 7 years of good type, strong well shaped masculine head, dark clear eyes well veiled, strong jaw with strong clean teeth, correct shaped erect ears well fringed, well arched neck into shoulders & firm level back well held on stance & move, good angles both fore & aft, well muscled throughout, super body depth & strength with ribs well back, super presentation to straight dark well textured & conditioned coat, positive sound mover with good stride & drive.

PB (1)

1 Barrass’ Lavaux Spirit Of The Isle of Gallondean, my only puppy but what a cutie, just 6 months & a few days but as confident as you like, super outline on the stance completes all the long, low & levels at her age & with all the maturing to do should stand her in good stead for a bright future, pretty well developed head & dark eyes full of cheeky expression, lovely earset & well fringed already, beautiful crested neck into well laid shoulders & firm topline to tail well set on & carried, lovely substance to body with ribs well back, correct return of upper arm & depth of chest & body, well turned stifle & short hocks, very well presented & textured black coat with nice face furnishings coming, smart mover, good fluid stride once settled. BP.

1 Proud’s Knowlespring Dream Walk to Dolphaz, on her last outing under myself she won the puppy class, now maturing nicely, looks lovely on the stance being of good height to her longer length & just as nice to go over, sweet, feminine correct proportioned head of strength, dark brown eyes very expressive, lovely carried & placed ears with nice fringing, firm backline & well carried tail, super chest & body depth with ribs well back into a short loin, correct front angles & hindquarters both well muscled, beautifully presented silver coat of correct harsh, straight texture with good undercoat, elbows held well in on short straight well boned legs, well let down hocks, well padded strong feet, stylish mover with a free driving action & sound, would like owner handler just to make more of & show her off & she will be troubling the best. RCC;

2 Bailey & Hansel’s Celticbridge My Lady by Marjayn, dark grey with a nice outline on stance, most beautifully constructed head with enough veiling & nice earset with fringes, good crested neck of length & well laid shoulder placement, holds topline well on occasions, stands firm then drops it on move, great body, well ribbed back, nice depth of chest, good angles to upper arm, short well boned legs rather tied at front, strong well turned rearquarters well muscled, super coat texture with good undercoat & length coming, moved out with good drive;

3 Bell’s Glorfindel Spring Secret.

LB (4)

1 Shuttleworth’s Whicheeta Celtic Crusader, very smart & feminine, a nice picture on the stance & move & is just as nice to go over, beautiful & very feminine powerful head, the best in the class, nice earset, shape with super fringes & expressive dark eyes under nice veiling, strong long neck into well laid back shoulders, very well held backline, firm on move & stance, nice height & length although a little shorter in back than 2 but with a good ribcage well back into a short loin, nice front & well boned legs, round well padded feet, strong developed hindquarters & short hocks, coat well presented with good texture. Could have more length to finish picture. Moves with free-striding action & sound, will be up in the top spot soon;

2 White’s Salena Special Effect at Gumshoe, very attractive & feminine grey just coming into her own but slightly held back by her owner handlers laid back attitude to showing her (sorry), great head of good strength & power with strong jaw & dentition, long crested neck set into firm backline of good length held well, nice front angles with depth to chest, straight well boned front legs, well muscled rearquarters & nicely turned stifles, lovely length to coat, well presented, conditioned with a nice undercoat, moved out soundly lacking interest & not as settled as 1;

3 Richardson’s Talyot Katy.

OB (2)

1 McQueen’s Ch Azrakhan Capercaillie, what is the old saying ‘don’t judge & make statements from outside the ring’, well this is one for me, until now I have not been that keen on this 5 years bitch but never having put my hands on her I did not know how nice & correct she was to go over, on the stance looks very impressive & is well handled, is on the bigger side for a bitch but everything is in proportion & is long & level, super head shape, powerful but feminine, no extremes with super head coating & veiling over dark full of character eyes, super earset with fringes to match, lovely outline with firm level backline of good length over a deep long body with ribs well back into short loin, nicely angulated front with good depth of chest, front legs well boned slightly tied, good return of stifle & in super muscletone, short hocks & well padded tight feet, Fantastic dark grey coat of good length with a super texture & undercoat, moved out with a positive very sound effortless stride covering the ground well, in the challenge both dog & bitch looked so type stood side by side. CC.
