SKYE JUDGE SCOTTISH BREEDS 22

I would like to thank the exhibitors for entering their dogs and the committee for inviting me.

PD (1)

1 & Best Puppy Lee’s Darzet Mack the Knife Young dog of approaching 12 months with the correct cream with black points coat. Pleasing head and dark eye, powerful jaw, strong large teeth good bite. He’s at the adolescent stage at the moment but even so, for the discerning, has much to admire. Long rib and good tail set. Would like to see in a couple of years

JD (1)

1s Maclean & Weir’s Rhoderns Hamish. Dark silver boy just over 12 months of age. Balanced head, good earset and dark eye. Strong jaw, large teeth and correct bite. Of good body proportion and harsh coat. Front and rear assembly good, stromg bone, moved well. Another who needs a little more time to complete the picture. Sympathetically handled by her very experienced owner.

GD (1)

1 Maclean & Weir’s Rhoderns Hamish

LD (1)

1 & RCC Shuttleworth’s Whicheeta Walk the Walk A pleasing understated adult male of 3.5 years who is very sound with good front and rear extension. Level topline which he kept on the move. Masculine head with no coarseness. Good ear set, good bite and strong underjaw. Proudly carried head on neck of correct length and flowing into excellent forehand. Good length of rib and strong loin. Tailset ok.

OD (2)

1 DCC, BOB Maclean & Weir’s Knowlespring Jackpot at Rhoderns. I had previously given this dog Best Puppy in Breed when I judged the breed in 2019 at National Terrier. Find of the day. What a fabulous dog, so pleased he has developed into a top class example of the breed. Clearest of creams with lovely pigmentation. Glorious coat of correct texture and length. Looks like a cream should look like. Why this dog isn’t a champion I cannot understand. Glorious head, lovely bite with strong dentition. Beautiful neck that flows into a correct forehand. Strong ribcage of correct length and shape. Excellent topline which was held on the move. Rear angulation very good with superb front and rear movement. Absolute joy to go over.

2 Pringle’s Ch.Esgia the Exciseman ShCM. Another lovely dog to go over, was unlucky to meet the winner in such sparkling form. I have judged this 4 year old dog before awarding him the RCC at National Terrier in 2019 and he is a very pleasing dog to go over. Sympathetically shown by his handler. Masculine headpiece with good earset. Correct bite with strong underjaw. Good length of neck. Forehand good, rear angulation OK.Move out well and with drive. Special Beginners (1) 1 & BP Lee’s Barzet Mack the Knife Very raw 6 month old puppy with a lot of potential.

JB (4)

Top lines were a bit of a problem in this class.

1 Hamilton’s Headscrook Heads or Tails 15 month old bitch who moved well holding her topline. Feminine head, correct bite and dentition. Good layback of shoulder, overall body shape good. Harsh coat.

2 Macqueen’s Madaza Cuckoo 16 month old cream bitch who was of pleasing outline. Coat needs to clear soon. Nicely proportioned head, good bite and strong underjaw. Forehand OK, rear angulation good.

3 Grainger’s Black Cuillins Catriona (Imp Deu)

GB (2)

1 & RCC O’Rourke’s Borcho Skoosh of Straunmore Clear cream bitch of almost 2 years who once she settled moved well. Lovely headpiece, darkest of eyes, good bite and pigmentation. Lovely reach of neck going into excellent forequarters. Level topline both standing and on the move. Good front and rear extension. Hope she goes on to get her championship.

2 Lee’s Celebros Anaire 17 month old cream bitch. Coat needs to clear. Feminine head, teeth OK. Would have liked a little more length of neck. Held topline both standing and on move.

LB (5, 2)

This was a lovely class to judge.

1 Macleans & Weir’s Knowlespring Miss Marple at Rhoderns 4 year old cream bitch. Typical head from the Knowlespring kennel. immaculately presented by the owner. Good earset, correct dentition and bite. Length of neck good, forequarters ok with good lay of shoulders. Lovely topline and long rib cage. Rear angulation OK and length of hock. Good example of a Skye bitch.

2 O’Rourke’s Esgia Glen Scotia of Borcho Cream bitch colouration not as good as winner, more what the Americans describe as platinum. Feminine head with good ear set and bite. Little shorter in neck to winner however layback of shoulders was ok. Level topline and good rear angulation. Moved nicely and with drive

3 Gracie’s Elnath Bohemia Cokol with Cekebros (Imp CZE)

OB (2)

1 & BCC Pringle’s Esgia First and Fairest Judged this cream bitch in 2019 and like good wine, she has certainly improved with age. She is now almost 5 years and has matured well. Very good headpiece with excellent bite and dentition. Strong underjaw with large teeth. Powerful neck flowing into well placed shoulders and forequarters. Very good rear angulation with well let down hocks. Showed how she could move well and kept her topline. She was unfortunate to meet the Dog CC winner in such sparkling form.

2 Maclean & Weir’s Kometa Rossi Gerbera at Rhoderns Dark silver bitch of 3 years who was unfortunate to meet the winner, however gave a good account of herself. Pleasing head shape with dark eye, correct bite and good earset. Lovely reach of neck going into good shoulders and length of ribcage. Rear angulation good and nice turn of stifle. Moved well.

VB (1)

A very emotional class for me as the bitch was out of our last champion Skye, Ch Talyot Learchus ShCM (Ben), who died an extremely painful death from Skye Hepatitis at the young age of 4 years.

1 & BV Grainger’s Perrylands Bentara Seven and a half years old dark silver bitch who was enjoying her day out.and belies her age. In full coat, level topline both standing and on the move. Feminine head with correct bite. Good shoulder placement and length of ribcage. Rear angulation and length of stifle good. Moved with drive.

Spec. Beginners Bitch (2, 1)

1st Hamilton’s Headscrook Heads or Tail

Mrs Lynne Richardson (Talyot)
