SKYE JUDGE SCOTTISH BREEDS 18

What an honour to be asked to judge 'the Heavenly Breed', one I truly adore, at this unique show. I was really thrilled to achieve this ambition and privileged to handle these exhibits, thank you all who have encouraged me over the years.

VD (1)

1 Burscough's Glorfindel Secret Shadow at Kilfinan ShCM. Charming dark silver, strong muzzle, dark expressive eyes, ears good size. He had enough length of neck into strong shoulders and full quarters. A little lacking in undercoat today but hard, straight outer jacket and correct fringing. A bit proud of his tail on the move but moved true fore and aft, feet pointing in the right direction. BV and RBVIS, congratulations.

PGD (1)

1 Kendrick's Frisco Kiaora at Jeraro (Imp CZE), only 20 months old, this shaded silver had such a terrific outline, his topline held effortlessly both stacked and on the move. Shouted long, low and level to me. Strong head of good shape and light veiling over dark eyes. Crested neck and developing well with oval ribbing and short loin, well off for bone. Correct double coat, although I appreciate there is still some length to come. It was on the move that this dog particularly impressed, definitely a fluid mover, and so effortless, happy with it too but still maintaining a correctly held tail. CC.

LD (2)

1 Thomson's Glorfindel Shadow Boxer ShCM, lovely dark silver, well bodied, strong headpiece and muzzle, and a pleasing, correct outline. Good rib to loin ratio, tidy in front and balanced behind. He held his topline at all times though he flagged his tail somewhat today on the move. He didn't move today as his construction suggested, just not putting his all in sadly. RCC.

2 Bailey and Evans Talyot Nimrod by Marjayn. Cream with powerful head and strong muzzle. Well bodied but a bit lacking in coat today, though enough fringing over dark eyes. Keen to please his young handler, but struggling to maintain his topline.

OD (5,1)

1 Curtis' Ch Brakemill Barnum ShCM, cream mature male with correct dark points, a strong head and muzzle with enough length, dark eyes and lovely reach of neck. Straight in front and strong hindquarters with balanced angulation. Good undercoat and hard straight jacket. Topline just as it should be and moved well enough but could have put more into it.

2 McLeod's Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I at Esgia (Imp EST), cream drop ear, no daylight to see, with larger size ear and correct lower head carriage on good length of neck. Plenty fringing and hard textured coat, level topline stacked and moving and moved out actively.

3 Smith's Lam-Baias Mad Max at Marrcrieff (Imp DNK). Res Parker's Glorfindel Deacon Brodie ShCM.

PB (1)

1 McKenzie and Scott's Bearreraig Rubha Sughar at Borcho, cream at correct stage of coat and shading for age. Black points and fringing coming in nicely. Good eye and expression, feminine but strong enough in head. Body developing well and holding topline. Happy mover, tail held well, just inclined to crab sideways at times. BP.

JB (1)

1 Parker's Tweedsmuir Feebee Mine, cream youngster, again, coat and colouring at right stage for age. Fringing and black points there to see and has length and strength in head. Neck developing and good length of rib, short loin, bodying up and holding her topline stacked and moving. Free and active mover and happy with it. BJ.

NB (1) 1 As above.

PGB (1)

1 Barrass' Gallondean Foreign Spirit, cream young lady who is very like her dad. Colour clearing nicely and femine but with strength. Super eye and expression. Maybe could do with a little more length to neck but good rib to loin ratio and held a level topline at all times. Moved true with good tail carriage, but could have done with a bit more activity today.

LB (3)

1 Marshall's But Beautiful of Morningsky (Imp Deu), very feminine black, but still giving the impression of power and dignity. Well set ears, strong jaw, good length of neck, correct proportions of rib to loin and balanced front and rear. Harsh coat falling flat to sides and moved freely holding topline. I hesitated with her for top honours as she did seem to tense up when standing and raise her rear at the final assess.

2 McLeod's Esgia Sula Froya-Shaded silver, appeared long low and level, but the devil had got into her and she was very hard to assess, strong muzzle and hard coat with woolly undercoat. Moved actively but without putting her feet on the ground in the required order!

3 Evans Kometa Rossi Bozena at Marodyme.

OB (4,1)

1 Curtis' CH Brakemill Briar Rose, classic silver mature bitch, elegant demeanour, and again shouted long, low and level. Feminine but with strength in head and jaw, dark, expressive eyes. Well constructed broad shoulders, oval ribbing of good length and strong muscular rear. Has a super outline at all times, great head carriage on a crested neck and tail held gracefully. Harsh outer coat and soft undercoat. Her topline is held so well at all times and although she almost was inclined to play up at times she moved actively and fluidly and with purpose. CC and BOB.

2 Burscough's Ch Glorfindel Shadow Wings at Kilfinan ShCM, another beautiful bitch, dark silver, of slightly smaller stamp and with everything in place. Well proportioned head, correct in body with a great topline and in super hard jacket. Dignified and elegant in outline and presence, sadly she wasn't in the mood to put everything into moving but did enough for RCC.

3 McLeod's Noap Chariot Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia (Imp RUS).
