SKYE SCOTTISH BREEDS 16 Judge(s): MR R I CRUDEN (SHAMSKY) DCC CH BRAKEMILL BARNUM SHCM (MRS J A CURTIS) SKYE JUDGE SCOTTISH BREEDS 16 Skye Terriers ND (1) 1 McLeod’s Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I at Esgia, 18 month large headed boy with dark eye & nice big teeth. Reasonable front & is low, level & certainly long. He held his topline at all times & had solid true movement. I kept having another look at him in the challenge & am sure he’ll feature prominently in the future when his coat finishes. PGD (3,1a) 1 Thomson’s Glorfindel Shadow Boxer, 22 month dark silver with strong head & muzzle. Deep in ribcage & sound in front. Slightly taller dog than 2 but still had good ratios & held his topline well. Strong rearquarters producing good drive around the ring; 2 Neilson’s Auchenbathie It’s A Doddle, a younger dog at 16 months who still has a bit of maturing to do. Bit narrower in muzzle than 1 but has lovely dark fringing against a pale silver coat. Is nice & low with good length but stands under himself a bit raising his rump & throwing his topline off. LD (2,1) 1 McLeod’s Esgia Murray’s Olympic Gold, nearly 2 years old & in a gleaming nearly black coat. Strong muzzle with large teeth but they could do with a clean. Good forehand, deep chest, strong arched neck & pleasing ratios. Drove out well but does carry his tail a tad high. OD (8,4) 1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum, 4 year old cream who I loved nearly 3 years ago as a junior & was my RCC winner back then. Has since matured into a beautiful Skye with a super profile & is such a sound & well balanced dog. Shown in wonderful condition with dark contrasting fringes & delighted to award him the CC this time & BOB. Delighted also that he went on to RBIS; 2 Marshall’s Emoticon Kiaora Glorfindel, this 3 year old was my BP last time out, has strong head & jaw, large teeth & super contrasting fringing. Strong neck & shoulders, bit tight in front, deep chest & strong topline. Sound moving dog & happy to give him the RCC this time; 3 Breeze’s Salena The Magnificent One. VB (1) 1 Macqueen’s Ch Azrakhan Capercaillie, 9 year old super looking girl, very dark coat with silver threads. Very feminine & still has a good clean set of teeth. Good shoulders & front & manages to hold onto topline most of the time. In very good coat & condition & a beautiful example of the breed. A little hesitant at times on the move but is true away & back. JB (1) 1 Bryden’s Esgia’s Sula Froya, silver girl of just 12 months having dark eyes & dark pigmentation. Good length of neck into level topline. Long & low presenting a nice profile but a little on edge today & her movement suffered a bit. NB (1) 1 McLeod’s Noap Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia, 18 month light silver who really caught my eye today. Dark eyed with good mouth & pigmentation. Good arch to fair length of neck into level & long topline that she held at all times. Presented in lovely condition, creates a super profile & moved true. Delighted to award her the RCC. PGB (5,3) 1 Marshall’s Glorfindel Shadow Witch, 22 month dark silver with a decent width of skull & strong muzzle. Lovely long neck, level topline, good depth to chest & strong hindquarters. Good driving movement; 2 Neilson’s Celticbridge Dawn Spangles at Auchenbathie, 4 year old silver of pleasing type, though not quite having the head & muzzle of 1. Good forehand, depth of chest, & length of rib. Stands a bit high on the rear & unfortunately her movement was compromised a bit & she tends to weave. LB (4,3) 1 Smith’s Marrcrieff Glen Glamis, 3 year old silver having well balanced head, good teeth, muzzle & black fringing. Enough length to neck, depth too chest but a little narrow in front. Topline is good & held well. Would have liked to see her a bit more positive in movement. OB (4,1) 1 Marshall’s Skyewalker’s Ozone Baby at Glorfindel, 2 year old cream bitch winning a hard decision here. Good balanced head, nice length of neck & lovely profile. Good front, depth of chest & rib length. A nice sized girl being long, level & low. In great condition with dark contrasting fringes & moved easily & true. Delighted to award her the CC & then to discover that it was her third & crowning; 2 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Briar Rose, 4 year silver of high quality, sound in every department & just a bit taller than 1. Also presented in wonderful condition & moves well; 3 Breeze’s Salena Silver Sapphire. ROGER CRUDEN
