SKYE JUDGE SKC MAY 16

Skye Terriers

Thank you for the entry. I am pleased to say that temperaments on all of the exhibits was good. Mouths were also good. There was a lack of muscletone in some exhibits which in turn will have an effect on movement & toplines. In my opinion fronts in particular need watching, I appreciate that a Skye’s front is not straight like a WFT but it shouldn’t be twisted & out at elbow. The rear end action on some exhibits is not good. Skyes should show their pads when moving with the pads coming up true & not twisting out to the sides. Also the slight skip on some exhibits is incorrect & could be indicative of a problem. I do find however that Skye’s in general are not happy inside on those concrete floors & show much better outside on the grass.

JD (1)

1 Symonds’ Alfastary Hannibal Haz History Bearreraig, 16 months cream dog with a fair head with good ear fringing. Front assembly OK & good rear angulation. Has a tendency to roach which spoils his outline. Unsettled on the move.

PGD (2)

1 McLeod’s Juger Eidelweiss Me Myself And I at Esgia, this 19 months drop eared cream presents a pleasing outline. He has a decent head with a good eye & expression. A good neck & a strong topline carried well on the move. Front OK, good rib to loin & good rear angulation. Moved well. RCC;

2 Thomson’s Glorfindel Shadow Boxer, dark grey not as settled as 1. Has a decent topline & is OK in front. He was unsteady & skipping at the rear slightly on the move.

LD (2)

1 Harrison’s Glorfindel Shadow Dancer for Trenson, dark grey with a good coat. His front is OK & he has a decent neck & topline. Rear angulation is fine & he moved quite well. I have seen him look better as today he looked a bit boxy & a tad high on the backend;

2 Neilson’s Auchenbathie It’s A Doddle, pale silver boy that needs more coat. He has a good earset with dark fringing. Not giving his handler the best of days as he did not want to stand well & moved with his nose to the ground. I would also prefer more bone & strength to him.

OD (4,1a)

1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum, a very well presented glamorous cream dog in good coat. He has a lovely head & expression with well fringed black ears. Good depth of chest & OK in shoulders I would however prefer straighter front legs. He has good rear angulation & is a well muscled dog in peak condition which helps him move steadily around the ring holding his topline well. CC;

2 Marshall’s Emoticon Kiaora at Glorfindel, not the head of 1 but has dripping black ear fringes. He was not holding his topline well & was very unsettled on the move;

3 Smith’s Lambaiss Mad Max at Marrcrieff.

PGB (3,2)

1 McLeod’s Noap Charoit Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia, pretty silver colour, she has a feminine head with a nice expression, well set ears with good black fringing. An excellent topline which she holds on the move. Front OK. I found today she gave me the impression of working really hard on the move rather than free flowing.

LB (2)

1 Whinncup’s Bunnybois Inspiration, pleasing cream bitch. Lovely head & expression with beautiful black ears. She was very well presented & in good coat. Nice neck & shoulders, good chest room, OK front but feet turn out & good rear. This girl held her topline well both standing & on the move. She is glamorous & demands attention. RCC;

2 Smith’s Marrcrieff Glen Glamis, grey bitch with a fair topline. Head OK with a good earset. Well laid shoulders & quite good front. She has good rear angulation, moved OK but lacked sparkle.

OB (2)

1 Glorfindel’s Skyewalker’s Ozone Baby at Glorfindel, I gave this cream bitch the RCC last time I judged. Today I awarded her the CC & BOB. She is a glamorous & feminine cream bitch in good coat. She has a lovely head & expression with beautiful black ear fringing. She has a lovely neck which she used to her advantage. Good shoulders & front with enough chest room. She has a good rib to loin ratio & holds her topline well. Ideally she could be a little longer but she is long enough. She was beautifully presented & moved around the ring well;

2 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Briar Rose, grey bitch in good coat. She has a good length to her & held her topline well. She has a fair neck & front OK. Today she seemed very tense & did not show herself as well as she could.

VB (1)

1 Macqueen’s Ch Azrakhan Capercallie, this 9 years girl really frustrates me! I have judged her twice now & often admired her from the ringside. She is a very well made girl in beautiful coat. But, again, today she just did not want to give her best. She went through the motions but gave her handler nothing other than the bare minimum.
