SKYE SKC AUGUST 17 Judge: Dr S Downes BEST OF BREED : 4401 CURTIS Mrs J Ch Brakemill Barnum Sh.CM SKYE JUDGE SKC AUGUST 17 I'd like to thank the Officers and Committee for my invitation to judge the breed today, and for providing an impeccably run show. Thanks also to my ring steward who kept everything running smoothly. Thanks must also go to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs out today. I was pleased to have the opportunity to go over dogs that were new to me as a judge. It was especially nice to see the distinction between dogs and bitches returning, with some very feminine yet solid bitches in the ring. JD (2,1) 1 Wallace's Tweedsmuir Flyin High. A promising young man of ten months with lots of maturing still to do. Strong masculine head supported by a strong neck and front. Good bite and expressive eye. Body well ribbed, with a deep chest and short loin. Well-angulated hindquarters that gave him good drive on the move, he just needs to settle a little to get that effortless movement. OD (6, 3) 1 Curtis' Ch Brakemill Barnum Sh CM. Eye catching cream dog of 5 years that presents a handsome silhouette; long, low and level with a touch of glamour. Strong head with good bite and eye, good length of neck that leads into well laid-back shoulders. Deep ribcage with a well-ribbed body that leads into neatly made hindquarters. Moved with drive from the hind whilst keeping a lovely topline. BD and BOB. 2 Thomson's Glorfindel Shadow Boxer Sh CM. Another well made dog that showed himself to the full. Three-year-old silver with strong head supported by strong yet elegant neck. Good front with deep ribcage. Well-angulated hindquarters that, again, gave him solid rear drive on the move. Pushed hard in the class but just a shade shorter in body than the winner. RBD. 3 McLeod's Esgia Murray's Olympic Gold. JB (2) 1 Barrass' Gallondean Foreign Spirit. 18-month-old cream bitch offering a feminine outline. Lovely head with strength that doesn't compromise femininity. Good length of neck leading to well made front. Shoulders well laid back and nice deep chest. Body well ribbed with an excellent topline standing and on the move. Can be a little unsettled in the move but the drive is definitely there. 2 Evans' Kometa Rossi Bozena at Marodyme (Imp) 10-month-old silver bitch with lots of maturing still to do. Lovely feminine head, good length of neck. Well-ribbed body and short loin supporting a sound topline when standing. She was a little unsettled on the move at times today but shows promise. Looking forward to seeing how she matures. BP. PGB (2) 1 Bryden's Esgia's Sula Froya. Pretty silver bitch of 2.5 years who was giving her handler a challenging day! Lovely feminine head with good pigmentation, good bite and dark eye. Good length of neck and well constructed front and rear. Good topline standing. She moved well and with drive once she settled into it and pushed hard for her win. RBB. 2 Smith's Marrcrieff Glen Glamis. 4-year-old dark silver bitch with good head, bite and eye. Good length of neck. Front well put together, well-ribbed body but not quite the hind of the winner. Moved out well both for and aft. OB (2, 1) 1 McLeod's Noap Chariot Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia. Pretty light silver bitch rising 3 with all the right bits in the right places. Feminine but strong head with correct bite and dark eye. Good length of neck with a neatly made front. Good depth and length of ribcage giving a good chest. Nice short loin and well-angulated hindquarters allowed her to move well and retain a level topline on the move and when standing. A bit more coat will give her a little more glamour but a very neat and tidy bitch to go over. BB Judge Dr S Downes |
