SKYE RICHMOND 09 Judge: Mrs Monica Barraclough CAIRN JUDGE RICHMOND 09 Cairn Terriers A quality entry. I found most Cairns moved better when given time to settle rather than just the minimum of movement. The main comment I have is what has happened to the fronts on our breed? The Standard calls for ‘standing well forward on forepaws’. This correct construction for a Cairn is sadly lacking in some exhibits who are straight & flat in the front, lacking forechest & shallow in depth of brisket. This in turn means lacking spring of rib & a short upper arm. Some were too wide across the shoulders. Temperaments were excellent & presentation good. VD (0). PD (4,1a) 1 Shopland’s Cherrycrack Blackadder, gr/br, up to size, very clean outline, balanced, coat short but of desired texture, movement sound, covered ground keeping his topline, head developing with the correct proportions, wide apart medium sized eye of dark hazel colour, good scissor bite, large teeth. BP; 2 Soper’s Elitecharm Dream Boy, wh/br, nice size & balance, attractive head with good proportions. Preferred eye & expression of 1. Large teeth, correct bite, quality coat, well presented, steady mover; 3 Shannon’s Brenndarcy Trouble At Mill. JD (4,1) 1 Morley’s Kedvaiy Locomotion, red, excellent head, dark points, so desirable, always seem to disappear during puppy hood, but have remained in this dog, very good proportions, kept his outline on the move, clean shoulders, showy, movement true; 2 Kinchin’s Tyreece’s Tricks, r/br, a heavier build than 1. Nice head & expression. Little heavy in shoulder. Good spring of rib & depth of body, moved true; 3 Kippen’s Chezaku Master Minder. YD (4) 1 Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Raleigh, r/br, lovely head & expression with dark mask, moderate throughout, correct front with spring of rib & layback of shoulder, angulation in harmony, moved well, keeping his topline; 2 Inett & Harrison’s Inett To Winnit with Carradine, masculine dog, lovely head & expression, moved with drive never putting a foot wrong. Would like to see a little less coat down sides as this gives him the effect of a shorter leg & throws balance out. Made correctly, very good angulation; 3 T Tricks. PGD (2,1) 1 Mosely & Inett’s Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx, gr/br, lovely head of good proportions with dark points, good balance, free mover. Coat on the short side. Showy dog who stood alone. LD (4) 1 Peers’ Tweedisle Guy Mannering, dark gr/br of very good balance, really showed off his outline, viewing the dogs in the next ring, clean shoulders, level topline, good tailset, very nice head & expression; 2 King & Leighton’s Carradine Night Listener at Harkinleigh, wh/br, very good masculine head, covered the ground. Not the clean outline of 1. Turns hind feet a little when moving away; 3 Green’s Aizenay The Mighty Quinn. OD (4,1) 1 Middlehurst’s Zalazar Un Zipped! at Starveren, red coat, all male, commanded the class, does not disappoint on the table, presented to perfection, correct front with forechest & depth of brisket, good spring of rib, level topline kept on the move, tailset at one o’clock, head has a good stop & balanced muzzle with dark well set apart eyes, neat ears. To nit pick could be a little longer in back. CC & BOB; 2 Pollock’s Larchlea Licence To Thrill at Stanedykes, all masculine dog, excellent head, very good expression, largest of teeth. Not so enthusiastic as 1. Moved on a short tight lead which affected his movement. Level topline, well angulated, very good outline, well presented coat of correct texture. RCC; 3 Hogarty’s Cadagio The Unexpected. VB (0). PB (7,3) 1 Osborn’s Tweslam Maid By Magic, red with perfect outline, very good size & balance, feminine head, showy & assured, moved well, keeping her topline, good front matching rear angulation, well handled. BP; 2 Kippen’s Chezaku Love In A Mist, red coat of good texture, at 7 months the baby of the class, keen expression, feminine head, moved well, good outline; 3 Soper’s Elitecharm Brindled Beauty. JB (5,1) 1 Smee’s High Class Baby at Malmay, r/br, showy, well balanced, moved steadily, keeping her topline, attractive head of good proportions. Would like more forechest & more depth to body; 2 Hogarty’s Cadagio Make It Happen, red, good head, correct coat, sound mover. When her tail was up a pleasing balance, when she dropped it she looked a little long. Correct front & matching rear angulation. Needs to show herself off more; 3 Waite’s Svendalens Crazy Diamond. YB (8) 1 Parker- Tucker’s Uniquecottage Sea Breeze, r/br, lovely head of correct proportions, very well constructed, correct front for the breed, spring of rib, neck well set on, upper arm of commensurate length, matching hind angulation of medium size with correct movement; 2 Inett & Harrison’s Noncom Minnie The Minx at Carradine, wh/br, correctly made bitch who pushed hard for 1st, good coat texture, well presented, lovely head with dark points, moved with drive & purpose; 3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Button It. PGB (8,2) 1 Robinson’s Cruzo Caitlin, up to size wh/br, gorgeous head, coat very well presented & very showy. Front is lacking forechest for our Standard, therefore the front assembly spoils front movement. Good rear action; 2 Poile’s Kedvaiy Liza with a Z, r/br, gorgeous head & expression, nicely balanced, same remarks apply to the front as 1. Good coat, well presented; 3 Mosely’s Carradine Sapphire at Spawyche. LB (6) 1 Felters & Rumen’s Landbuck Jazz Hands, wheaten, took my eye straight away, handled extremely well on the table with correct front & ribbing, lovely feminine head, mischievous expression, angulation matching, clean shoulders, level topline retained on the move, coat quality excellent with consistent texture throughout, moved superbly as if she could go all day. CC; 2 King, Leighton, Inett & Harrison’s Curtisey Foreign Account with Carradine, wh/br, very well presented, very nice head & expression, correct front & rear which enabled her to move out with drive, keeping her outline, moving effortlessly, could go all day. RCC; 3 Smee’s Malmay Skies The Limit. OB (3,2) 1 Waugh’s Razzle Dazzle Glory at Tribannon, wheaten, very good coat texture throughout, gorgeous head, dark expressive eye, excellently proportioned muzzle to skull, correct front & rear, moved well with drive. Would like to see her tail carriage a little more at one o’clock when moving. Very good balance. ELAINE SHORT
