SKYE PAIGNTON 18 Judge: Mrs B Brown BEST OF BREED : 1484 CURTIS Mrs J Ch Brakemill Barnum Sh.CM SKYE JUDGE PAIGNTON 18 I would like to thank all the exhibitors for the lovely entry they gave me at this show where I was awarding CCs for the very first time in Skyes. I had strength and depth of quality and I must mention the puppies - all seven entered were present and every one of them was an absolute delight which I sincerely hope augurs well for the future of this beautiful, old breed. This was a lovely class of quality puppies. 1 Pringle's Esgia The Exciseman. 8 mth old cream dog who has a lovely head and eye, good mouth, pleased in neck, topline and quarters. He moved out soundly and very well and he was presented in lovely coat and condition. Very definitely one to watch in the future. 2 Shuttleworth's Whicheeta Total Eclipse. 9 mth old black with a masculine head, good neck and length, he moved out well and he was very well presented. 3 McLeod's Esgia Glen Garioch. A litter brother to first. 1 Bamford's Whicheeta One For The Road. 3 yr old silver with black points, masculine head with a good mouth, lovely level topline and good length, pleasing front and good hindquarters which he used well to produce sound movement. 1 & Res CC, Large's Juger Edelweiss Mickey Mouse Is Madaza (Imp). An impressive drop-eared dog who is very masculine, he has a good mouth, lovely reach of neck, level topline which he held at all times, excellent hindquarters which he used to advantage to produce sound, ground-covering movement. I had never seen either this dog - or indeed his owner - before today but I was delighted to award him a very well deserved Res CC. 2 Kendrick's Frisco Kiaora At Jeraro (Imp). 2 yrs dark silver, masculine head, dark eyes, well feathered ears, lovely neck flowing in to decent shoulders, well angulated hindquarters, sound and steady on the move. For personal preference I would like to see him with a little more length to complete the picture. 1, CC, BOB & G2, Curtis' Ch Brakemill Barnum ShCM. For me, he excelled in breed type and quality. I awarded this striking cream BPIB when, as a replacement judge, he was previously shown under me. He is now a fully mature 6 year old who has fulfilled all the early promise he showed me as a 6 mth old puppy. He has a thoroughly masculine head, complete with dark eyes, correctly fringed ears and a lovely mouth, excellent length, his front pleased me as did his excellent hindquarters which were well muscled and which he used extremely well to produce sound, ground covering movement. He was in superb coat and condition and I was delighted to award him the CC & BOB. I was later thrilled to see him win G2 under a Skye specialist - many congratulations! 2 McLeod's Juger Edelweiss Me, Myself And I At Esgia (Imp). A drop-eared dog who I see is a litter brother to the Res CC winner and similar remarks apply. I particularly liked this dog for length and he moved out soundly and extremely well. As I was going over him I was reminded that at an all-breeds Open show exactly 25 years ago I awarded G1 to a drop-eared dog owned by this self-same exhibitor. The memory made me smile! 3 Shuttleworth's Whicheeta Celtic Keepsake. 1 & Best Sp Beginners, W One For The Road. This class saw a superb line-up of quality puppies - they were an absolute joy to judge. I was spoilt for choice! 1 & Best Puppy, Large's Parrima-arih Universe Of My Fantasy Is Madaza (Imp). This 10 mth old cream shows a great deal of promise. She is very feminine with a beautiful neck, level topline, excellent angles fore and aft and she moved out soundly and with drive. She was beautifully presented, and I will most definitely watch this youngster's progress with lots of interest. I suggest she will have a very bright future. I wish her well! 2 Pringle's Esgia First And Fairest. 8 mth old cream, litter sister to the Puppy Dog winner and again similar remarks apply. Feminine in head, good eye and expression, lovely neck and topline, excellent hindquarters and she moved soundly and smartly. Her coat was beautifully presented and she was spot-on for condition. 3 Curtis' Verumamicus Aurora Of Brakemill. 1 Parker's Tweedsmuir Feebee Mine, 21 mths, a very feminine cream who pleased me in head and body proportions. She has a good mouth, lovely neck, decent front, level topline and excellent hindquarters. Not moving as well behind as I would have liked. 1 Shuttleworth's Perrylands Cassidy At Whicheeta. 4 yrs, pleased in head, mouth and hindquarters but for my personal preference I would have liked to have seen her with a little more length of neck and body. Unfortunately, on this occasion, she did not make the most of herself. This was a lovely class. 1 & CC, Breeze's Ch Salena Silver Sapphire. Very feminine bitch of excellent type and quality. She has a beautiful head, eye and expression, her lovely neck flows into very good shoulders, level topline which she held on the move, excellent hindquarters and she moved out soundly and with great drive. As always from this kennel, she was immaculately presented. I liked her immensely and I was delighted to award her the CC. 2 & Res CC, Curtis' Ch Brakemill Briar Rose. Litter sister to the Dog CC winner, and like him she possesses excellent breed type. She has a beautiful head, dark eyes which are full of expression, lovely neck, topline and quarters. She too was beautifully presented. When it came to the final analysis, the deciding factor for me was that I preferred the movement of first. 3 Zvezdina's Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins (Imp) ShCM. A top quality bitch who I see is yet another litter-mate to the winner of the Res Dog CC and the 2nd in Open Dog. Clearly, that was a superb litter!
