SKYE JUDGE PAIGNTON 10

Skye Terriers

I found the quality of the dogs & bitches were of a high standard & as I had not judged the breed for some time this was very pleasing but also made my choices harder. On the plus side all exhibits were well presented & I was pleased to see that the younger exhibits were very promising thus securing the future off the breed. The minus side was that I felt 3 or 4 dogs were a little jaded & have seen them go better. Perhaps a long season of shows was the reason.

JD (2)

1 Richardson’s Talyot Learchus, well presented masculine dog with balanced head, strong scissor bite, strong fill under eyes, bright dark eyes, used his ears well, good sloping falling into well placed shoulders, balanced rib to loin ratio, good depth of chest, level topline, used muscular rear to drive around the ring;

2 Shuttleworth’s Whicheeta Celtic Keepsake, this was his very first show but is full of promise, good masculine head with dark eyes, strong scissor bite, well placed earset, strength in jaw, nice reach of neck, level topline, good rib to loin, well muscled, had to give way to the ring presence of 1.

PGD (0).

LD (2,1a)

1 Parker’s Glorfindel Basil Brush, pale silver masculine dog who moved around the ring on a loose lead, strong jaw with scissor bite, dark eyes, well fringed ears, good rib to loin, muscular rear, presented well.

OD (6)

1 Samuel’s Skyelander Wee Man of Storr, have watched this drop eared dog since a youngster, found him so masculine with correct ear carriage, domed shaped head, dark eyes, strong jaw with scissor bite, slopping neck into laid back shoulders, good depth of chest, balanced rib to loin ratio, muscular rear giving drive, in great coat, took the ring demanding his place. CC & BOB;

2 Barraclough’s Ch Skyeotts Midnight Majesty at Wemoway, very masculine drop eared dog, just a shade smaller than 1 but carries all the good points, very balanced dog who moved with drive around the ring. RCC;

3 Marshall’s Ch The Black Touch of Morningsky.

JB (2)

This sister act was very pleasing to judge.

1 Shuttleworth’s Whicheeta Celtic Crusader, very feminine bitch who was on her first appearance in the ring, balanced head with correct earset, scissor bite, dark eyes, nice sloping neck with well placed shoulders, level topline, muscular rear, in good coat, moved well;

2 Grainger’s Whicheeta Celtic Conection, carrying all the good points of her sister, two very promising bitches, had to give way to 1 in movement only.

PGB (3)

1 Marshall’s Glorfindel Lucretia, I have admired this young bitch from the ringside since she made her first appearance, she really knows how to move around the ring with elegance, very feminine with balanced head, good ear carriage, strong scissor bite, darkest of eyes, good slope of neck into well laid shoulders, good front, level topline, balanced rib to loin, muscular rear giving drive, in great coat. RCC;

2 W Celtic Conection;

3 Shuttleworth’s Perrylands Stroller cum Whicheeta.

LB (3,1)

1 McLeod’s Esgia’s Sula The Late Edition, the first thing one notices about this feminine bitch is how much she enjoys her day in the ring, in flowing coat, good earset, dark eyes, strong scissor bite, good slope of neck, good rib to loin ratio, muscular rear giving drive;

2 Samuel’s Skyelander Midnight Dream, well presented in flowing coat, balanced head with dark eyes, strong scissor bite, good ear carriage, good slope of neck, level topline, muscular rear, moved with drive.

OB (4,1)

1 Barraclough’s Sw Ch/Ch Skyeotts Amnesix X High Skye Miracle at Wemoway, this bitch surprised me with her elegance, I had thought her too big but a lot is coat, feminine domed shaped head of a drop eared bitch, dark expressive eyes, strong scissor bite in good jaw, good front, lovely slope of neck into laid back shoulders, level topline, well balanced in rib to loin, in good coat, flowing around the ring. CC;

2 MacQueen’s Ch Azrakhan Capercaillie, very elegant bitch who I have been itching to get my hands on, balanced head with correct earset, dark eyes, good fill in jaw with strong scissor bite, good slope of neck into well laid shoulders, good front, balanced rib to loin, level topline, muscular rear, well presented in good coat, lost out to 1 on movement on the day;

3 Breeze’s Salena Secret Passion.
