SKYE NATIONAL TERRIER 24 Judge: Mrs J Miller SKYE JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 24 It was an honour to judge my breed at his prestigious show and I was very grateful to the exhibitors for giving me a quality entry with some very nice breed exhibits. I was delighted to see my Best Veteran go onto be placed 3rd in the Veteran finals of the day. 1 Whitelams’ Madaza Star a very nice type to this 2.5 year old bitch very feminine strong head with good length nicely veiled, correctly sized ears well set and fringed, nice dark eyes, good slight stop, strong jaw with correct dentition. Slightly crested neck into strong broad shoulders and a very firm level back to a strong rump and well set on tail. She has nice front and rear angulation, and her body is so well ribbed back into a strong short loin. Her fawn double coat texture was clean and in excellent condition and presentation, this gave her the advantage over the youngster whos coat is in the inbetween stage and hard to get correct. Short well boned legs were quite straight, strong quarters and hocks. Powerful stridewitha nice free powerful action. 2 Haighs’ Vindovaia Coat Of Colours. Lovely to see a young puppy male in the ring certainly has the long low and level requirement and as long a he develops and does not get walked too much should stay a lovely shape. Strong masculine head, good skull ears need to settle and firm and are too low set but this may alter as his head matures. Nice dark eyes with some puppy veiling. Strong long arched neck, broad shoulders a firm long back with good strength, nice rump well set, but carried high on the move, just needs training, Very nice body with substance and depth and oval ribs well carried back into a short loin and a strong rump and thigh. A soft dark grey going silver puppy double coat little too open but being trained with length coming from the parten. Strong short legs and tight feet, once he settled down showed an sound free movement. Vet (3) 1 Kendricks’ Ch Frisco Kiaora At Jeraro (Imp Cze), not far off 8 years old and how this dog has improved and become more masculine, not having seen him for some time and now having the opportunity to go over him it was a pleasure. Lovely strength to his head with good breadth and length, well set, fringed and carried ears, dark alert well set apart eyes, slight stop to foreface and powerful jaw, Holds his head proudly on an arched neck into broad shoulders and a long broard level back to a strong rump and well set and carried tail. Lovely oval ribcage and strong loin. Beautifully presented and conditioned solid black double jacket hard and straight with a lovely length. Today he stepped out with a good reach and driv and covered the ground so well. Best Veteran lovely to see him placed in the Veteran final quite an honour at a Terrier show. 2 Heaths’ Perrylands Hello Again same age as the winner and looking very smart of a good size and well presented in a beautiful conditioned double fawn coat of correct length. This bitch was so feminine with a strong well developed head of good length, correct ear shape and set with good fringes, liked her expressive eyes covered with a good veiling, nice stop separated her strong foreface and jaw. I would have liked a little more neck length, strong shoulders and good front development with depth to her chest, good boned legs and tight feet. Although a nice length of body she was a little shorter than the male, having a firm straight back and moulded rump with well set tail carried well both on stance and move. Strong quarters and hocks from which she moved off so free and soundly. 3 Parkers’ Tweedsmuir Feebee Mine ShCm MPD (2,1) 1 Heales’ Rhoderns Arbika Of Treiawneki a real baby, just 7 months but so well developed for his age, once matured should have a good show career. At his age he is well built and has the correct long low and level so as he develops properly should grow well. Nice strength to his head, good skull and well set ears although they do need to firm and settle. Dark expressive eyes, slight stop and good foreface and jaw with correct dentition. Good neck length shoulders, a firm level long back with nice rear quarters, tail set fine and carried ok. Lovely angulation to both ends of a good body with oval ribs well set back, having susbstance and depth needed at this age. Well presented double dark grey coat with enough length and in nice presentation, well boned short legs and correct feet, a stylish happy mover once under control into his stride could be seen to be sound with a nice action. BPD PD (2,1) 1 Haighs’ Vindovaia Coat of Colours PGD (3,1) 1 De Leies’ Vermamicus Cicero With Castrumskye very impressive male on the stack and very nice to go over on the table, he is certainly all dog and has the most stunning masculine head, has strength and correct balance, good back skull width with correctly set on and positioned ears with good fringes, slight stop to a strong foreface with correct dentition. Long slightly arched neck to strong broad shoulders and broad level back of good length, muscular rump and well set and carried tail. I would like a little better front angulation, holds elbows in on strongly made and boned legs that are fairly straight with tight feet. Deep body with good weight, well ribbed with oval ribs well back into a short loin, very well presented in a straight light fawn jacket with lovely length and of a harsh texture. Good return of stifle and strong hocks. Moved soundly just lacks drive at times, but when moved faster by his owner handler does pick up a good stride and has a sound action. 2 Herberts’ Riskerytree Ravenwing. Just heading for 2 years old and holds a nice outline being long low and level to be critical I would like him to be a little more masculine but with time should come. Overall shape to his head but needs more strength and length, ears are set well could be bigger and better coated. Lovely dark eye shape with alert look. Correct dentition. Good neck length shoulders and firm back with enough length, well developed rump and well set and carried tail. A good body but needing more depth and substance, nice oval ribs well back into a short loin. A very well presented black harsh textured double coat in nice condition, being straight of good length. Well shaped legs with enough bone, tight round forefeet moved out really well, sound both ends. LD (2,1) 1 Lynes’ Madaza Box Of Frogs A nearly 3 year old stunning male, today he had that lovely outline of being very long of the correct height so low and holding his topline firm. Masculine head of strength with strong back skull, this boy has large droppd ears with plenty of fringes lying flat a side of his head. Lovely dark eyes with nice vieling over, slight stop, nice tapering to a powerful foreface and jaw with correct teeth. Good neck length into broad shoulders being so well built with a lot of length, has a very long back which does make his topline look slightly uneven at times. Great body substance. His front could be deeper at his chest but is nicely angulated, his ribs are oval and well back into a strong short loin. Strong rump well muscled, good return of stifle and let down hocks. So well presented in a beautiful straight double cream coat of lovely length and texture. So well handled to get the best from him, moved at a good pace and showed a sound action with drive and reach. Pleased to award him DCC and BOB. OD (5,1) 1 Heaths’ Ch Lavaux’s Bahamian Chris I see this 4 year old is the son of my Veteran winner, very smart dog on the stance and nice to go over, good strength correct shape to his head, well set and used ears well fringed, dark elert expressive eyes under good vieling. Nice taper to his strong foreface and jaw with correct dentition. Holds neck on a strong slightly crested neck into his laid back shoulders, of good length to his firm back to a well shaped rump and well set and held tail. Would like a better front angulation, short strong legs of good bone could be slightly straighter. Good depth of body with nice weight and ribs well shaped back into his short loin. Very well presented in a harsh double straight silver grey coat of good length. Muscular hindquarters with good return of stifle and straight hocks, Very free sound mover but I would like more power and drive in his action. RCC 2 Baileys’ Rhoderns Haggis At Marjayn This is one strong, stunning dog that is long and low and certainly should carry his title. I did feel he could have been my winner, but he let me down today and unfortunatey stood with a noticeable dip in his topline although this disappeared on the move. Lovely masculine head so correctly shaped and so well coated and veiled. Loved his dark blsck well fringed ears set and used, and expressive dark round eyes, slight stop to strong tapered foreface, strong jaw all well furnished. Muscular long crested neck into well laid back shoulders and a very long back to strong hindquarters with well set tail carried correctly. Lovely depth to his angulated front and chest, well ribbed back with deep oval ribs into a short loin. So well groomed and presented in a straight double clear cream coat of a lovely length, so clean and well conditioned. His rear quarters are toned with good return of stifle and let down hocks and tight feet. Has well boned short legs fairly straight and tight feet. Has a lovely stride but does not move out with drive and I believe this is due to his handler not having the strength to move him faster. 3 Shuttleworths’ Whicheeta Walk The Walk MPB (2,1) 1 Baileys’ Rhoderns Ailsa Bay Avec Marjayn, just a baby 7 months old and looked quite confident on the move although just needs to settle but had a nice sound action with nice reach and drive. Lovely to go over, strong well shaped head well set strong ears with some fringing, smart alert look to dark round eyes, slight stop, nice foreace and correct dentition. Holds head proudly on slightly crested neck of good length into well laid back shoulders, has a nice overall balanced outline with a firm long level backline to a nice rear wth well set and carried tail. Lovely depth to her chest and super body and her ribcage is carried well back, nice short loin. Lovely angles front and rear with nice straight front and toned to her rear quarters. Beautiful double black coat well presented very straight and with a good harsh texture. BP & BPIB JB (1) 1 Whincup & Mccourts’ Coriend The Adjudicator By Partisky very confident showgirl certainly long and low. Of good length but I would have liked her back to have been a little more level as she stood and moved uneven. At 17 months she is still developing and maturing, her head needs to strengthen, with more width to her back skull, well set and carried ears with some fringing. Sweet expressive eyes with vieling over, slight stop, more strength to her foreface just a little narrow at present. Lovely length to her crested neck to good shoulders, enough angulation front to short legs with enough bone. Good oval ribs well back to her short loin. Beautiful presentation to her straight cream coat which is just changing colour and into her adult coat as the texture is becoming harder, at present has a lot of shine to her retained puppy coat. Very sound mover with lovely reach and drive. PGB (4,1) 1 Herberts’ Riskerytree The Magpie very impressive on the stance being long, low and level, and just as nice to go over on the table very attractive well conditioned lovely straight black coat changing colour at present into dark silver of a lovely length for her age. Very feminine head with enough strength a good width to her skull, nice back skull and well set and held ears, good veiling over dark expressive eyes, nice tapering to her foreface with strong jaw, well coated. Held head proudly on long toned, crested neck into her well laid back shoulders, nicely angulated front to her short legs which could be straighter. Well bodied with enough substance and well ribbed. Well toned hindquarters and return of stifle and let down hocks. Moved out soundly with style covering the ground well with good drive. 2 Roberts’ Tarskavaig Speed Bonny Boat At Sunabil how this bitch has changed since it first saw her, she has matured into a lovely looking feminine girl now 3.5 years old another who looked smart on the stack and was nIce to go over on the table. Has strength in her head with a good width, nice ear set with enough fringing ears slightly rounding at tips, dark alert eyes of nice size good veiling over, slight stop to well shaped foreface with strength, correct dentition. Good neck length to her shoulders, into a firm level back of enough length, good quarters, tail set little high which inturn carries litttle high on the move. Lovely depth of chest and body with lovely substance, harsh texture to her black coat changing colour slowly to dark silver, nicely presented but more work would make the length look better. Short legs and tight feet, a sound free mover with good reach and drive. 3 Shuttleworth & Whincups’ Wondersky Wish You Were Here At Whicheeta (Imp USA LB (4) 1 Graingers’ Black Cuilline Catriona JW (MP DEU) Beautiful outline, size and overall balance and build to this lovely feminine just 2 year old. Fabulous strength to her balanced head with nice width to her back skull, well set and carried ears with nice dark points and fringing. Sweet dark moderate eyes with lovely expression with nice veil over, nice stop, strong tapering to her foreface and jaw, correct dentition, nice furnishing. Holds her head proudly on a long well toned neck to well laid broad shoulders into a long level topline to a firm rump with tail set carried well. Nicely angulated front and rear of a body that is well ribbed back with a short loin. Super presentation and condition to a straight double cream coat of lovely length. Short well boned legs and tight large feet, hindquarters with lovely tone, good return of stifle and let down hocks, today she covered the ground with lovely reach and drive and once into a stride with her handler had a fabulous side action. BCC and BOS 2 Heaths’ Skyeshire Rosie another very stylish girl 3.5 years old and by my open dog winner, lovely size, and long, low and level. Very attractive strong head well worked with nice shaped ears well set on and used fringes could be darker. Good expression from her dark eyes with a nice slight stop. Holds her head well on a good length of neck, broad shoulders, having a firm back of good length and strength with oval ribs set well back. Nicely angulated front and rear of her body having depth to her chest and brisket with her elbows held in on her short boned legs and feet, strong hind quarters with good turn of stifle and let down hocks. Quality coat to a good cream so well presented and conditioned, her points could be darker. Another who had a nice action using her hindlegs to give drive and push. Nice tail carriage. BRCC 3 Heales’ Rhoderns Helena OB (3,1) 1 Curtis’ Ch Verumamicus Aurora Of Bakewell JW Osw This girl is nearly 7 years old, it only seems yesterday that she came out into the showring. She has done a lot of winning and brought the breed to the fore. In my opinion there is just too much of her for me. She has the most powerful well shaped head but my opinion I would like a little more refinement for a bitch. Well shaped and set ears with fringes, lovely dark expressive eyes, good veiling, slight stop, lovely dentition. Proud head carriage on a good length of neck and set in broad shoulders, she has a good length of back but today she had a dip in her topline and it was slightly uneven. Well muscled rear quarters, correct tail set and carried well. Nice front angulation and depth of chest and body which is well ribbed back to her loin. Quality clear double straight cream coat in superb presentation, condition and length, Short well boned fore legs, could be straighter nice large tight forefeet, hindquarters well developed with good return of stifle and hocks, very good free mover, covers the ground well but does not really power drive but is sound both coming and going. 2 Roberts’ Sunabil Tywysoges O’libanus so very different these two, this lady is very small and not enough of her, she is long and very low and her back is level. She has a small worked head, lacking in back skull, small ears needing to settle and not sitting well with some fringing, but she does use them. Dark alert eyes under veiling. Slight stop narrow foreface and jaw. Good neck length to well set shoulders, into her back of good length, well set on tail. Body has enough angulation front and rear but she needs more substance and weight, she has oval ribs set well back into her short loin. Well presented and coated in a straight solid black jacket of nice texture and length. Would like more stenght of bone in her short legs, she moves out soundly from both ends but has not power drive.
