SKYE JUDGE LEEDS 18
Please accept my apologies for the lateness of this report due to the serious illness of a family member. Many thanks to the Society for their kind invitation to judge and to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their dogs. Weather conditions were difficult for the dogs and their handlers - on a different day placings may well change. I have been away from the ring for a few years and type has definitely changed. Dogs and bitches are much bigger and in some cases coarser. One of the most noticeable changes was in coat texture. Many exhibits lacked the desired double coat - they had plenty of soft woolly coat but no straight, flat outer coat.

PD (2)

1 McLeod's Esgia Glen Garioch. Dark silver puppy with well placed neck and shoulders. Good length of body with a level topline. Moved soundly.

2 Sanderson's Esgia Highland Laddie. Dark silver puppy with a decent headpiece and well set ears. Longer in body than first and unsettled on the move.

PGD (1)

1 Lynch's Skyeluck Sisu (Imp). Silver drop-eared dog of an old fashioned type. Very solid body with a straight front. Moved steadily although a little pleased with his tail.

LD (3)

1 Kendrick's Frisco Kiaro At Jeraro. Dark silver dog with a strong head and correct ear set. Straight front with well-placed shoulders. Long and level; kept his topline on the move. Not the biggest of dogs but everything was in proportion. Would like to see him again as he matures.

2 Herbert's Tweedsmuir Stargazer. Silver masculine dog with a strong head. Long in body but I would have preferred a longer length of rib. Overall he was of a bigger build than first.

3 Large's Juger Edelweiss Mickey Mouse Is Madaza (Imp).

OD (6, 1)

1 Curtis' Ch Brakemill Barnium ShCM. Mature cream dog with black points, I have judged before. He has a strong masculine head with a correct bite. Good tight front with correctly placed shoulders. Long and level with excellent spring of rib. Moved out soundly. Pleased to award him the Dog CC. His ring presence gave him the edge for Best of Breed.

2 Breeze's Ch Salena THe Magnificent One. Mature dark silver dog. Particularly liked his head and ear set. Reasonable front; good length of body with a level topline. Not altogether happy on the move but his overall qualities were enough to give him the Reserve CC.

3 McLeod's Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I At Esgia.

VD (2)

1 Burscough's Glorfindel Secret Shadow At Kilfinan ShCM. A young black veteran dog with a good headpiece and well set ears. Nice tight elbows along with a strong, deep chest. Moved steadily.

2 Parker's Glorfindel Deacon Brodie ShCM. Another young veteran black dog who was happy to be in the showring. Liked his overall shape and size. Masculine head; tight front and good length of body. Moved soundly.

PB (4)

1 Large's Parrima-Arih Universe Of My Fantasy Is Madaza. Cream youngster with lovely dark points. Still very much a baby, feminine head, liked her strong front. Understandably a bit unsettled on the move.

2 Curtis' Verumanicus Aurora Of Brakemill. Cream youngster with dark points. Very similar in type to first and I'm sure they will change places many times.

3 McLeod's Esgia's Lone Wolf.

JB (1)

1 McKenzie & Scott's Bearreraig Rubha Sugar At Borcho. Cream youngster who was a good shape and size. Level topline and moved out ok. Unfortunately her lack of facial fringing did not do her any favours.

PGB (2)

1 Dunlop's Kometa Rossi Cinderella. Gorgeous black bitch who sadly was not handled to advantage. Once you got your hands on her it was apparent that this was a quality exhibit. Beautifully feminine with a lovely head and expression. Well placed neck and shoulders; correct height to length proportions. Moved soundly with drive. Delighted to award her the Reserve CC in good company.

2 Parker's Tweedsmuir Feebee Mine.Cream bitch with dark points. A different type to the winner. Correctly shaped front; held her topline on the move.

LB (2)

1 Dunlop's Kometa Rossi Cinderella.

2 Barrass' Gallondean Foreign Spirit ShCM. Strong headed cream bitch with dark points. Decent shape and size with a strong rib. A little sluggish on the move today.

OB (7, 4)

1 Burscough's Ch Glorfindel Shadow Wings At Kilfinan ShCM. Beautiful black bitch with a lovely feminine head and well set ears. Elegant neck set in to well placed shoulders. Good tight front with sufficient depth of chest. Well sprung ribs; correct length of body with a level topline. Strong hocks which she used to advantage on the move. In lovely coat and condition. Just my type of Skye, pleased to award her the Bitch CC.

2 Zvedina's Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins (Imp) ShCM. Mature cream bitch with dark points. Strong head with a well made body. A bigger and heavier type of Skye to my winner.

3 McLeod's Noap Charoit Madlen Mardzheri At Esgia.
